Netflix's upcoming true-crime series "The Watcher" diverts from the genre in that it doesn't center on a serial killer or a violent criminal but rather an anonymous stalker who torments a family who just moved into a new neighborhood. The series is based on the true story of the Broaddus family, who were terrorized by a mysterious writer calling themselves "The Watcher" who sent letters to their home throughout 2014.

This stars Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as the Brannocks, with an impressive cast featuring Mia Farrow, Noma Dumezweni, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Terry Kinney, Margo Martindale, and Jennifer Coolidge.

American Horror Story auteur Ryan Murphy is putting a terrifying new spin on his monster house conceit.

Netflix on Saturday (at its Tudum global fan event) unveiled the first trailer for Murphy’s latest limited series The Watcher, which stars Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Coolidge, Margo Martindale and Mia Farrow and is set to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 13.

Back in 2015, you may recall, a creep who called himself “The Watcher” forced a family to move out of their house in the wake of increasingly disturbing behavior towards them, and it didn’t take long for big names in Hollywood to compete for the rights to the unsettling story.

The story of “The Watcher” will be told through a limited series, created by Ryan Murphy (“American Horror Story”), and Netflix has released the official trailer this afternoon.

The series is based on a story written for New York Magazine and follows a family who were ultimately threatened and pressured into leaving their newly-bought mansion after a mysterious stalker began sending them letters in the mail.

About a year ago, it was announced that Naomi Watts (King Kong 2005) and Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man) would be starring in The Watcher, a Netflix limited series coming from American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy and his frequent collaborator Ian Brennan Netflix hasn’t yet revealed when they plan to release The Watcher, but they have started marketing the show in a fun way. Promoting a TV show when there are countless offerings out there is tough.

Netflix is taking a different approach for Ryan Murphy's limited series The Watcher, which is on track for a fall launch.

The streaming service released a clip of Jennifer Coolidge in character as realtor Karen Calhoun.

The intent?

To sell the house that serves as the setting for the show.

It's a decent method of promotion.

Coolidge has had some iconic roles throughout her career, and we're sure Karen will be another quote-worthy addition to her resume.

"Dean (Bobby Cannavale) and Nora Brannock (Naomi Watts) just purchased their dream home in the idyllic suburb of Westfield, New Jersey, but after putting all of their savings into closing the deal, they soon realize the neighborhood is less than welcoming," the logline teases.

The trailer for Netflix’s The Watcher limited series plays like a walk-through of a house for sale, with Jennifer Coolidge starring as the realtor who guides interested buyers through their potential new digs. Netflix has unveiled an unconventional teaser for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming limited series The Watcher. It’s also the streamer’s first official confirmation of the series.

The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge hosts a three-minute “open house” video as realtor Karen Calhoun.

“Hi, I’m Karen Calhoun from Darren Dunn Realty,” says Coolidge at the opening of the teaser. “This is 657 Boulevard,” she continues, “and this is my listing.”

“Are you ready?, your dream home awaits,” she adds.

The teaser could pass for a legit open house tour, except for a couple of things that are a bit telling — such as when Karen suggests you could fit an entire body in the home’s dumbwaiter, and when she fears opening the bedroom curtains because of “weird neighbors” who might be peering in.
