John Drea

John Drea was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the oldest of two sons of Mary (Bracher), a dental hygienist, and Raymond Drea, an artist. He was raised in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. John attended Loyola University Chicago, where he obtained his Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies and Theatre in 2020. He studied with Kathryn Pogson, Sarah Gabel, and Mark Lococo. John began acting at Marquette University High School. His acting career in film and television began with an unpaid guest spot in the web series Ashley Green: Eater of Souls (2020). In 2024, John found his most memorable and successful role to date, James, in the world premiere production of Little Bear Ridge Road at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, which starred Laurie Metcalf. For his work in Chicago theatre, he was nominated for two Jeff Awards.
