Well, it’s official. Lucas Bravo is coming back for Emily in Paris season 5 despite going on a smear campaign following the release of the show’s fourth season in which Bravo has made it incredibly clear he’s not a fan of the show’s creative decision.

Filming on the fifth season of Netflix’s beloved romantic comedy is set to begin next summer in France with cameras slated to begin rolling the first week of May 2025. In confirming the start date for filming, Variety has also confirmed that Bravo, who plays Emily’s on-and-off love interest Gabriel on the show, will be coming back for the upcoming fifth season… though, we’re not exactly happy with the news if we’re being completely honest.

While Emily (Lily Collins) has relocated to Rome in the Season 4 finale of the hit Netflix series, Macron is vowing to bring the production back to France.

“We will fight hard. And we will ask them to remain in Paris!” Macron told Variety. “‘Emily in Paris’ in Rome doesn‘t make sense.”

“Emily in Paris” is confirmed to be moving to Italy for its fifth season as Emily will lead the marketing campaign for new client-slash-suitor Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). And while it’s still unclear where the series could go next both narratively and in terms of jet-setting, it seems that Macron may have an advantage to bringing Emily once more to Paris: Macron’s wife Brigitte Macron guest-starred on the show.

Netflix has announced that it is renewing Emily in Paris for a fifth season, following the return of Season 4 on September 12.

Season 4 – which was split into two parts, with Part 1 debuting on August 12 – sees Emily (Lily Collins) embark on a romance with a handsome Italian fashion exec and then move to Italy to open a Rome office for Agence Grateau.

The Season 5 announcement featured a teaser of Emily sitting on rooftop terrace in Rome as she sipped on an espresso, saying, “There’s no place like Rome”, with a wink.

The show’s creator Darren Star confirmed to Deadline last week that the Rome connection is set to continue in Season 5.

“She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie’s company has an office in Rome. Emily’s getting that on its feet,” he said in a Q&a about Season 4B.

I don’t know why Emily in Paris season 4 felt like a finale to me, but it seems like I may have been more than a little bit wrong about that. Nothing is confirmed just yet, but with the way things have ended this season, there’s no way they don’t want to keep the IP going. Season 4 part 1 ended on a terribly low note. We learned that Camille wasn’t actually pregnant, and it had been a false pregnancy all along. But to make matters worse, because her girlfriend leaves her and she’s still stuck on Gabriel, she doesn’t admit the truth and pretends to be pregnant, which makes Emily’s life quite hellish, despite no ill intention on Camille’s part. It’s like when the makers heard that Camille’s character development was going to the dogs, they decided they’d make it even worse.

In Emily in Paris season 4 part 1, Alfie kind of got the short end of the stick. Even though he was angry and hurt after what went down at Gabriel and Camille's almost-wedding, he still loved Emily and wanted to repair their relationship. Unfortunately, his attempts to rekindle their relationship were no match for Emily's feelings for Gabriel. Let's just say Alfie will never forget that masquerade party.

Going into season 4 part 2, questions about how Alfie would factor into the story moving forward loomed large, mostly because Emily had chosen Gabriel.
