Winfried Randerath
He completed primary school in Mönchengladbach-Bettrath from 1968 to 1972. From 1972 he attended the Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium Viersen-Dülken, where Randerath graduated from high school in 1981. He then studied human medicine at the University of Düsseldorf from 1981, followed by a practical year in internal medicine in Interlaken, Switzerland, and in neurology and surgery in Wuppertal-Barmen until 1987. He received his license to practice medicine on November 30, 1987; On September 30, 1988, the doctorate with the topic "Study on the influence of biosynthetic human proinsulin on fat metabolism and hormones of counterregulation" took place with Prof. Dr. med. F. A. Gries, Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Düsseldorf.
From January 1988 Randerath worked as a doctor in the medical clinic of the Marienhospital with Professor Dr. med. G. Cohnen worked. In April 1990 he moved to the Kamillianer Hospital in Mönchengladbach. From April 1993 he worked in cardiology, pulmonology and angiology at St. Bernhard Hospital Kamp-Lintfort, where he was appointed senior physician in November 1996. Meanwhile, he completed further training as a specialist in allergology (1993), internal medicine (1995), pulmonary and bronchial medicine (1995), qualifications in somnology (1997) and environmental medicine (2000). In January 2000 he completed his habilitation with the "Investigations into impedance-controlled self-adjusting nasal positive pressure treatment (APAPFOT) in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome", Venia legendi Internal Medicine, University of Witten/Herdecke with Professor Dr. med. K.-H. Rühle.
From July 1996 to September 2003 he was a senior physician at the Ambrock Clinic for Pulmonology, Allergology and Sleep Medicine under Professor Dr. med. K.-H. Rühle active. The doctor also specialized in the additional areas of sleep medicine (2006) and palliative medicine (2007). He was then appointed chief physician and medical director of the Bethanien Hospital, Clinic for Pulmonology and Allergology, Center for Sleep and Respiratory Medicine on October 1, 2003. He is also director of the Scientific Institute for Pulmonology at the University of Witten/Herdecke. In this position, the doctor became a leading authority in the fields of allergology, pulmonary and bronchial medicine, and sleep medicine.
