In the same The Hollywood Reporter interview where he revealed that Netflix is developing three more Fear Street movies, author R.L. Stine also spent some time hyping up another streaming adaptation of his work: Goosebumps: The Vanishing. The second season of the new Goosebumps TV series, Goosebumps: The Vanishing is set to make its premiere on January 10th on Disney+ and Hulu – and Stine described this as an “elevated” Goosebumps that’s more terrifying than the source material.
The first season of Goosebumps centered on a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past. The show is taking the anthology route, so we can expect a second season that has “an entirely new cast and setting based on Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.

Rachel Schwartz, head of the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, said in a statement, “This year’s nominations are particularly meaningful as much of the work being honored was delayed due to last year’s strikes. The 23rd BET Awards were given out on Sunday evening, in a five hour-plus (!) ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
This year’s host-less BET Awards had a lot going on, including a star-studded celebration of 50 years of hip hop (featuring musical medleys curated by DJ and producer Kid Capri); a tribute to the late Tina Turner, led by the legendary (if teleprompter-challenged) Patti Labelle; the recognition of Busta Rhymes with the Lifetime Achievement Award; and performances by nominees Coco Jones, Ice Spice, GloRilla and Latto, plus Doechii, Lil Uzi Vert and Mad Lion.

In terms of the sheer number of entertainment options, there’s never been a better time to be a kid. But it’s also never been more work.
The average 8-year-old in 2013 could turn on one of a few TV channels and park there for an hour or two, and maybe watch a few movies or shows on Netflix or Hulu (in the not-very-likely event their families had an account). YouTube was for teenagers and adults.
A decade later, an 8-year-old can choose from hundreds of titles across a host of streaming platforms and thousands of YouTube channels — as well as an age-protected YouTube Kids app — to say nothing of TikTok and other social media. The shift to streaming is even more pronounced among kids and teenagers than it is in adults: Where a popular network or cable show can still draw maybe half a million adults ages 18-34, no...

The video that changed Alaya High’s life is, by production standards, rather elementary.
Shot on a phone, handheld at a slightly off-kilter angle, it shows the tiny 11-year-old girl as she sits in the passenger seat of her father’s car. It looks, in fact, like the sort of video every parent has taken in the spur of the moment. Footage fired off to a spouse or a grandparent, meant for a space no more public than a group chat, destined for an emoji reaction or, if the recipient is feeling generous or a little bored, a follow-up question. The content, though, is pretty extraordinary.
