Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep
- Actor
-Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep creates in collaboration with performers in order to approach their present experience as primary artistic material. Placing performers as primary subjects and identity as an underlying theme, he explores their desires to marginalize, to confuse, to welcome, to impress, to transform, to sacralize. Through his work, he seeks to elicit the empathetic reception of witnesses. He sees creation and stage presentation as spaces for encounter and sharing.
Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep, aka Promo, has been immersed in hip hop since childhood. He joined the group Sweet Technique, with whom he took part in numerous breaking competitions, perfecting his skills over the years. To date, he has racked up over thirty victories and is regularly invited to take part in competitions around the world, sometimes as a participant, sometimes as a judge. Passionate about mastering the body, he began training at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, graduating in 2015. Since graduating, he has worked with Animals Of Distinction, Wants & Needs, Castel_Blast, Groupe RUBBERBANDance, 14 lieux, Lilith & Cie and Susanna Hood. Keen to pursue his artistic research, Sovann refines his approach to dance through his own creations and the various workshops he teaches. Today, as a member of Lorganisme, he is developing a number of stage creation projects featuring artists from various artistic communities: "Un temps pour tout" (2019) - presented at La Chapelle, Festival TransAmériques, Festival Furies, Musée d'Art de Rouyn-Noranda - and "Sam & Angèle" (2022).
