Carlos Olguin-Trelawny

Carlos Olguin-Trelawny was born in Buenos Aires. He began studies in architecture and urbanism but decided to interrupt these to travel to Europe, where he studied filmmaking at the ProDeo University in Rome and where he also attended seminars given by Jean-Luc Godard. Whilst in New York, Paul Schrader got him started in screenwriting and he took acting classes with Bill Hickey at the Herbert Bergdorf Academy. He started his film career as a second-assistant director to the Russian director Serguei Bandachiuk at the Dino De Laurentiis studios in Rome. After two enriching years in Afghanistan, India and the Himalayas, he returned to Argentina were he worked primarily in television as a writer and as an assistant director in films. His opera prima, "A Dos Aguas" won a Special Mention at Locarno Film Festival, Switzerland. In Los Angeles, where he has spent the last twelve years, he has been directing shorts and documentaries and has started to experiment with digital art. He attended UCLA screenwriting courses where he learned "how to tell a story as only Hollywood knows how, and with great success". During the last couple of years he has written several projects for film and television. This year he has decided to return to directing films and is producing/directing several short films before tackling a feature project.
