Other recipients of the country’s second highest civilian award are eminent architect Balkrishna Doshi – who just passed away on Tuesday, Doctor Dilip Mahalanabis, who pioneered the wide use of Ors (Oral Rehydration Solution) that is estimated to have saved over 5 crore lives globally, and Indian American mathematician S R Srinivas Varadhan.

This year, 106 Padma Awards, including to 3 duos (where the award is counted as one), have been conferred. Apart from the 6 Padma Vibhushans, including three posthumous, there are 9 Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri awardees. These include 19 women and two foreigners/Nri/Pio/OCIs. Abhishek Bachchan has always had massive shoes to fill with his father Amitabh Bachchan being the legendary superstar. Ab Jr. who has till date steered clear of his father's films remakes, has finally agreed to be part of one. In fact he will be seen playing the role originally essayed by Big B in the remake of the film Do Aur Do Paanch.

It is learnt that producer-director Kunal Kohli has roped in Abhishek for the role. The yesteryear film that featured Shashi Kapoor in addition to Bachchan was the story of two petty thieves who are employed to abduct the son of a rich businessman. However everything goes awry when the duo fall in love with Hema Malini and Parveen Babi respectively, who change them into good men.

While Abhishek will essay the role of Bachchan, Bobby Deol will play Shashi's role. However, the girls, are still being finalized.

Chandigarh, Aug 29: Claiming that Sikhs were being shown in a bad light in the film "Son of Sardar", the All India Sikh Students Federation (Aissf) has urged the clergy to take action against actor-producer Ajay Devgn.

In a letter to Akal Takht head Gurbachan Singh, Aissf president Karnail Singh demanded action against Devgn for hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs.

The Akal Takht is the highest temporal seat of the Sikh religion.

Karnail Singh Tuesday said the film, to be released in November, had blasphemous.

Emran was over the moon when we told him he’s the first hero to have three consecutive blockbusters in a row. He is still very unassuming and believes he can only succeed if the script and direction is right. When we joked about who is the best kisser in Bollywood he laughed and whispered that it has to be him! Eros International has signed a deal with South Korea’s Korea Telecom (KT) giving them the right to display 50 titles from the library of Eros across various platforms including Iptv, mobile and internet.

“Considering the huge fan following Bollywood movies have in South Korea and with our library of over 2,000 movies, we thought this was an ideal opportunity to exploit our content,” said Eros International senior vice president, business development, Kumar Ahuja.

The deal includes titles like Yamla Pagla Deewana, Chalo Dilli, Housefull, No Problem, London Dreams and De Dana Dan.

It is expected that KT’s Olleh TV platform will showcase the select 50 titles.

Eros also signed a deal with Korea’s Inyoung Trading for the theatrical release of Tamil blockbuster Robot (Endhiran) starring Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan.

Vinod Chopra’s film Talismaan was to be a romantic fantasy adventure film directed by Ram Madhvani. Based on the epic novel Chandrakanta written by Devaki Nandan Khatri in 1892, Talisman was meant to see senior Bachchan in the lead. A teaser-trailer of the film, high on CG and featuring Amitabh Bachchan, was released a few years ago, pitting a mythological warrior against a massive army . The promo even had a ‘coming soon ‘ title at the end.

Amitabh Bachchan is gearing up to sing a medley of four of his hit songs in Puri Jagannath’s upcoming film

Amitabh Bachchan, the son of the late celebrated Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, has had a tryst with poetry since his film Kabhie Kabhie (1976). His last song was in Paa (2010) and he will be heard singing a medley of his own songs in his upcoming film Bbuddah…Hoga Tera Baap.

The four iconic songs that the superstar will sing are: Khaike Paan Banaraswala (Don 1978), Rang Barse (Silsila 1981), Saara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana (Yaraana 1981) and Pag Ghungroo (Namak Halaal 1982).

The same medley was sung by Bachchan during his ‘The Unforgettables Tour’ in 2008. Nevertheless, the medley was re-recorded with a few modifications. It was done at Vishal-Shekhar’s Studio in Bandra. Director Puri Jagannath is reportedly highly impressed with Big B.

Chandigarh, June 30 – The Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (Sgpc), the mini-parliament of Sikh religion, Wednesday released a one-hour telefilm ‘Baba Banda Singh Bahadar’ to pay tribute to the legendary warrior.

The telefilm, made to mark the 300th anniversary of Bahadar’s Sirhind Fateh Divas (win) in May, was released by Gurbachan Singh, jathedar (head priest) of Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikh religion.
