Nury Martinez

Nury Martinez was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California. As the daughter of immigrant parents, Nury admired their hard work and learned the importance of community involvement. Nury graduated from Cal State Northridge in 1996 and was elected to the 6th District of the Los Angeles city council on July 23, 2013 in a special election, and was elected to a full term on March 3, 2015. Prior to being elected to the city council, Nury served on the 6th District of the Los Angeles Unified School District School Board from 2009 to 2013. Nury resides in the Sun Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley with her husband Gerry and daughter Isabelle.
