The best laid plans for Donald Trump’s inauguration — the pomp and circumstance of the outdoor Capitol swearing-in ceremony followed by a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue — have been stymied by Mother Nature.
With the forecast of Arctic blast moving into Washington on Monday, bringing wind chills in the teens or even lower, Trump said earlier Friday that some of the biggest events will be moved inside.
When Trump and Jd Vance take the Oath of Office, that will be in the Capitol Rotunda, witnessed by a far smaller crowd, perhaps only about 1,000. The parade will be moved to Capital One Arena, about two miles away, and Trump has promised that he will join his supporters there after the Capitol Hill ceremonies.
That said, other indoor events on inauguration weekend will go as planned, with a bevy of parties, balls and cocktail receptions planned for Trump’s ardent supporters and allies,...

Bad Bunny has been outspoken about social and political issues in Puerto Rico, but many wondered if he planned to take a definitive stance this election year. He was ever-present during the 2019 protests, but would he show up now? In September, he released “Una Velita,” a powerful and emotional call for leadership change in the Caribbean archipelago. Rumors abounded about what would come next, but nothing was confirmed. Suddenly, he began to follow only one person on Instagram: Puerto Rico’s third-party gubernatorial candidate Juan Dalmau Ramírez.

Jennifer Lopez will be joining Kamala Harris at a campaign rally in Las Vegas Thursday, Rolling Stone has learned. As previously announced, Mexican rock band Maná will also perform at the Nevada rally.
JLo’s appearance with the vice president will come several days after the singer shared Harris’ plan to build Puerto Rico’s economy and its energy grid. On her Instagram story Sunday, Lopez posted slides from Harris’ campaign. All of this came as backlash mounted after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating pile of garbage.

Marc Anthony is voicing his support for Kamala Harris in a new ad. On Friday, the Harris campaign unveiled a new TV slot featuring the Puerto Rican star, where he slams Donald Trump’s approach to Latino issues during his administration.
“Even though some have forgotten, I remember what it was like when Donald Trump was president. I remember what he did and said about Puerto Rico, about our people,” Marc Anthony says in the video, titled “Recuerdo.” “I remember after Hurricane Maria devastated our island, Trump blocked billions in relief while thousands died.

Nicky Jam’s collab with Maná, “De Pies a Cabeza,” is no longer on streaming services. On Sunday morning, the Mexican rock band announced that it had pulled the song from the internet following the reggaeton star’s public endorsement of Donald Trump.

“For the past 30 years, Maná has supported and defended the rights of Latinos around the world,” read the post’s caption in Spanish. “There is no business or promotion that is worth more than the dignity of our people.

On Friday night, the Puerto Rican musician joined Trump onstage in Las Vegas to endorse him, but the former president misgendered him in his introduction.
“Do you know Nicky? She’s hot. Where’s Nicky?” Trump said from the stage while looking offstage to find him. Jam then arrived at the podium as Trump corrected his mistake: “Oh, look, I’m glad he came up.

Given that Donald Trump has been in politics for more than eight years, his rallies are pretty recognizable to most Americans — but the one in Johnstown, Pennsylvania last week was different. This story is part of Como Celebramos, in which we're sharing how we're honoring our favorite summertime Sunday rituals.
Rauw Alejandro and Peso Pluma are set to take the stage at the 2024 Governor's Ball in NYC between June 7 and 9. While Becky G and J Balvin performed at the music festival in 2022 and 2021, respectively, this year marks the first time that two Latin music acts are headlining on separate days. And it's about time.
Since the 1940s and '50s, when cha cha and mambo took the US by storm, the mass appeal of Latin music has been undeniable. With its mix of West African and Spanish rhythms, the music is inherently danceable, which no doubt has helped genres like salsa and reggaetón break down the language barrier. You don't need to know what Bad Bunny's saying to be able to move to the beat. And yet, for a long time,...

When life gives you lemons, you have to make lemonade - and that's exactly what Shakira did after heartbreak. When the Colombian pop star learned in 2022 that Gerard Piqué, her partner of 11 years and the father of her two sons, was cheating on her, I'm sure it felt as if her life was falling apart. But when she couldn't bear the pain and the betrayal, she did what most musicians do - she turned it into art.
The first song Shakira released that was directly related to the breakup was 2022's "Te Felicito" with Puerto Rican Latin trap artist Rauw Alejandro. The song not only marked Shakira's comeback, it was also the first in a string of singles that would display her healing journey to the world and eventually become part of her latest highly anticipated album, "Las Mujeres Ya no Lloran," which was released on March 22.

The 2018 film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, was a boldly stylistic and striking foray into the flagging superhero genre, and featured a wild multi-dimensional story that brought multiple Spider-People (and a Spider-Pig) together from various threads in Marvel Comics canon. The main character was Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), although audiences also met a few versions of the original Spider-Man Peter Parker as well. Critics and audiences loved "Into the Spider-Verse," and the film would go on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The 2023 sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" resembled "The Matrix Reloaded" in many ways. It was twice as visually dazzling, and it was more narratively ambitious ... and it was only half of a movie. For being so much bigger, "Across" is ultimately the lesser movie. Eighteen years ago, before his debut on the 2005 compilation album "Sangre Nueva," not many were familiar with Puerto Rican reggaetón artist Arcángel. In the early days of his music career, Arcángel would sing on mixtapes for his friends and for locals in the rough San Juan neighborhoods of Villa Palmeras and La Perla, where he grew up. But these days, he has millions of listeners tuning in to his music, making him one of the biggest stars of the genre.
As Arcángel sits down for our virtual interview, his usual sunglasses are off. He looks straight at the webcam - not the screen - as if having a face-to-face conversation.
There's a startling amount of empathy in his eyes, which is both surprising and not when you consider his tumultuous early years, marked by hustling on the streets and finding ways to get by. People tend to associate that kind of life with cynical personalities,...

Both artists are familiar to Grammy voters: Karol cinched her first nomination in 2022, for her album KG0516, while Tainy won last year thanks to his credits on the Bad Bunny blockbuster Un Verano Sin Ti.

Karol G is at the best moment in her career. Amid dropping the history-making album "Mañana Será Bonito" and selling out stadiums across the United States, the Colombian superstar will receive a special honor at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards: the Spirit of Hope Award award, which recognizes an artist's humanitarian and philanthropic work.
Before becoming Karol G, she was born Carolina Giraldo Navarro in Medellín, Colombia. Her journey to becoming one of today's top Latina pop stars was many years in the making. Karol G came up alongside two guys from her city, J Balvin and Maluma, though her ascent wasn't as quick as theirs. Karol G's tenacity to make it as a woman in a men-dominated reggaetón scene eventually led to her debut album, the aptly titled "Unstoppable," in 2017.

Ricardo Bermúdez remembers his father, with whom he didn't have the closest relationship with, leaving behind tapes of car racing compilations the few times he deigned to visit. This wasn't unusual because his father worked with cars, so little Ricardo would often sit down and watch the tapes out of curiosity and to pass the time. It was here, via the video's rollicking soundtrack, that he discovered artists like Wu-Tang Clan, Dmx, and others. Bermúdez was already a fan of reggaetón, as are most kids who grow up in Puerto Rico. But American hip-hop began to captivate him just as much. Years later, that mix of influences would eventually trace his arc towards new musical ambitions and a new moniker most people now know him by today: Tommy Blanco.

When the Puerto Rican singer Omar Courtz was a teenager, he spent some time working at a clothing store in the city of Carolina that became popular among reggaeton stars. He’d see some of his biggest inspirations coming in and out of the shop, which was called Change: people like Farruko, Anuel Aa, and Ozuna. Years later, when he started making music, he wound up collaborating with a few of those same artists. “I was like, ‘I used to be your attendant at that store!’” recalls Courtz, 25.
