Marcus Greco is a Deaf Director of Photography, a film Editor, Director, and Producer. He is originally from Connecticut. His father is hearing, and is a CODA, (Child of the Deaf Adults), his mother is Deaf and is an Alumni from the American School for the Deaf, (ASD). He has a brother who is hearing and who is also a CODA. They use American Sign Language to communicate at home.
He graduated from ASD, Class of 2013. He then attended Northwestern Connecticut Community College, (NWCC) in Winsted, Connecticut from 2013, till the end of the year in 2015. He then transferred El Camino College, (ECC) in Torrance, California when he and his family moved relocating to the West Coast in 2016. He is majoring in Film at ECC.
His first outing to a movie theater was going to watch "The Mummy" (1999), when he was 4 years old. From that point on, he had a love for the movies. He immersed himself watching a variety of movie genres from horror, action, history, drama, to comedy films at home. He often went to movie theaters. When he was 12 years old, he then got some of his own film equipment, and had fun experimenting making films with his friends. He took film classes while he was at ASD. He became involved various film competitions while at ASD. While on the East Coast, he received film awards from the following; Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York for Digital Arts, Film and Animation Competition; 1st place in, "Alone No More", a short film, ASL Film Festival for Youth, Austin, Texas for Fiction Award, "Alone No More", a short film and 1st place ASL Poetry "2012", New Mexico School for the Deaf, Santa Fe, Mexico for 3rd Annual Movie Night Award, Best Story 2nd place, "Secret Cabinet", California School for the Deaf Riverside, Riverside, California for 8th Annual CSDR Movie Night Award, Best Supporting Actor, and EBMPAPST Inc, Farmington, Connecticut for 1st place winner in the Go Green Competition hosted by EBMPAPST. Here on the West Coast, he participated as a volunteer for, "Talk to the Hands Movie" (2018), and shot all the Behind the scenes work for a documentary with the movie, and conducted interviews with the cast and crew. He then became an Independent Film Maker. His first short film was for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge Film Festival. This film challenge required a short film to be produced, edited and scripted all within 48 hours. The film was called, "People of the Eye" (2019). He was the Director of Photography, Producer and Editor during the Film Challenge. His most recent work is called, "The Photo" (2020) where he Directed, and was the Director of Photography, Producer, Writer, and Editor for this short film.
He have been a passion of Marcus' since he was a child, and he continues to never give up in pursing his dream.
