Lawrence Leung is an actor, screenwriter and award-winning comedian from Melbourne.
He plays the lead and co-wrote episodes of the action/comedy TV series Maximum Choppage (2015). The upcoming feature film Sucker (2015) is based on the award-winning one-man theatre show of the same name, that Leung wrote and performed in 2001. He created, wrote and fronted two TV comedies for ABC1 Lawrence Leung's Unbelievable (2011) and the AFI-nominated Lawrence Leung's Choose Your Own Adventure (2008).
As stand up comedian, his solo shows have been performed in theaters and festivals including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, London's Soho Theatre and two seasons at the Sydney Opera House.
Described as 'comic documentaries', his one-man shows include "Sucker" (Best Solo Show award, 2001 Melbourne Fringe), "Lawrence Leung Learns to Breakdance" (The Age Critics Award, 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival & Best Australian Act, 2008 Sydney Comedy Festival) and "Time Ninjas" (with Andrew McClelland, Jury Award, 2009 Sydney Comedy Festival). Lawrence was also awarded GQ Magazine's 2009 "Man of the Year" in the Comedian Of The Year category.
Lawrence has also directed comedy shows that have appeared in the Melbourne Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival and short films. He has also penned pranks and satirical stunts for two seasons of the Chaser's War On Everything (ABC1).
