He survived the war but with a severe case of "shell shock"--what is now called PTSD--and broke. He got work as a literary reviewer for "The London Times", but his shell shock was so severe he only lasted a few months and his doctors ordered him to take a extended stay in the country, away from frenetic pace of city life.
It took him almost a year, but in 1919 he was well enough to return to writing. He traveled around Europe, living in France, Italy and Switzerland among other places, and eventually wound up in the US. He died there on 9/3/1943.- IMDb Mini Biography By: frankfob2@yahoo.com
