Christopher Barnett is a versatile and dynamic composer known for his work in cinema and television. He seamlessly blends contemporary electronics with lush orchestration, resulting in impactful and emotionally charged scores. With an eclectic background in chart music, jazz, classical music and ethnomusicology, working with studio orchestras in Bulgaria, Budapest and London, (in particular Air Edel and Air Lyndhurst), he has also composed music for academia, theatre and corporate campaigns.
His film credits include the award-winning, BAFTA-nominated comedy, Tristram Shandy (2005), Borrowed Time (2012), the Bulgarian award-winning biopic, Doza shtastie (2019), sci-fi The Sound (2018) (starring Joseph Mawle and Sienna Guillory) and rom-com Three Minute Moments (2007), for which he composed an orchestral jazz-based score with songs and lyrics for vocal duet.
At the time of writing, he has scored three critically acclaimed Guerilla Docs documentaries, Getting Away with Murder(s) (2021), Postcards from the 48% (2018) and The First Film (2015) for British director/producer David Wilkinson, two dance-themed documentaries for Russian director Dina Burlis, Joy Womack: The White Swan (2021) and Breaking Boundaries, whilst in 2017, he scored the hard-hitting, Channel 4 documentary Modern British Slavery (2017).
Professional voting memberships include BAFTA, PRS, The Ivors Academy and World Soundtrack Academy and he holds an MMus in Composition from the London College of Music.
