After twenty years as a writer and TV correspondent in New York, London, and Afghanistan, Riccardo Romani started his collaboration with Alfonso Cuarón in 2006 for the documentary The possibility of Hope (Universal Pictures, 2007), released along with the acclaimed feature film Children of Men.
Romani then went on producing and directing two documentaries for Sky (Italy) The Election Game (2008), and Coca Nostra (2010).
In 2014 Riccardo Romani founded RobustoFilms for which he produced and directed Hands of God, a story about a bunch of teenagers fighting for their lives in Iraq while trying to qualify for the boxing Olympic tournament. The film will be released in US in 2020. In collaboration with Alfonso Cuarón, Riccardo Romani is currently working at Bingham (tentative title), the biography of Howard Bingham, the personal photographer and longtime friend of the great Muhammad Ali, who has left an archive of more than 2 millions unpublished pictures.
