Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito Remix” featuring Justin Bieber has taken over the charts across the board and continues to be the biggest song of 2017! The summer smasher is creating history across streaming services globally as well as in India. The bilingual dance song is being credited for breaking barriers across territories and winning hearts worldwide. To celebrate the massive success of the song in India, Universal Music India & Shiamak Davar are launching a dance movement aptly titled The Despacito Movement.
The movement encourages dancers from across the country to groove to the song and send in their rendition of choreography to it. The Record label has kicked off this campaign on their social media pages for fans to send in their entries. The best dancers will be handpicked by the master of choreography Shiamak Davar himself to be a part of an epic India dance video for the song. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for dancers to be a part of this dream collaboration.
For the first time, ever, an Indian Dance Video will be choreographed for a global hit of this magnitude. The video will showcase an Indian twist to the Spanish song and will be premiered exclusively India’s only lifestyle and music channel Vh1.
Peurto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi of the hit song says “Hello India, I’m so thrilled, excited & honored to know that my song Despacito is #1 in India! Thank you so much for the support. I hope you guys keep dancing & checking out my song.”
Sharing excitement for the collaboration, choreographer Shiamak Davar said, “I’m excited to get the opportunity to choreograph the India Video for Despacito. I’m all for collaborations especially when it helps us showcase the uniqueness in our Indian Style, movement and choreography. I love the song and I’m really looking forward to choreographing the video!”
Devraj Sanyal Managing Director and CEO, Universal Music Group, India & South Asia commented, “Despacito” is by far the biggest International hit of the year! The momentum we are seeing on the song in India is simply incredible! It’s on course to break all audio streaming records here and we are thrilled to be home to a definitive song like this! As part of our plans to take the song deeper and to a wider audience, we are excited to partner with Shaimak Davar to create the India Dance Video for the song. It’s a brilliant opportunity for fans of the song to now engage in the video that too with India’s premiere dance guru Shiamak. Join the #DespacitoMovement now and be part of history in the making!”
Ever since its release, Despacito Remix has crowned the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the sixth consecutive week and is also the first mostly-Spanish language Hot 100 No. 1 in 21 years, since Los Del Rio’s 14-week No. 1 “Macarena” in 1996. In India, the hit song is currently #1 on charts and several playlists across leading streaming platforms Saavn, Wynk, Jio, Idea, Hungama, Gaana.
The song in its original format has crossed the 2 Billion View mark on YouTube/Vevo with more than 1.9 Billion Views in less than six months! The song is also at the #1 spot on the Hot Latin charts for a phenomenal 21 consecutive weeks.

“Despacito” is now a major hit becoming the first Spanish-language song to rank in the top 10 on the Hot 100 list for the first time in 20 years since the remix to Los Del Rio’s “Macarena” by Bayside Boys. With all of its success, Daddy Yankee is now talking about dominating the Latin charts with Justin Bieber.
“What I heard is that he was in the club in Colombia and heard the song,” Yankee revealed to Rolling Stone. “He liked it and jumped on it. Justin Bieber always does a great job when it comes to interpretation. I like the way he makes music.

Everyone seems to be in a mood on Chicago Fire Season 5 Episode 12. "An Agent of the Machine" picks up where Chicago Fire Season 5 Episode 11 left off, with Casey's mystery man identified as a would-be terrorist. And the guy is pissed, and he's coming not only for Matt but the whole firehouse. Go big or go home.
The episode does a good job of answering the big questions right away. It identifies who the mystery man is and tells us why he's so off his rocker. It's up to you if you still believe the story about how he survived the fire, but we can chalk that up to dramatic license.
This guy must have creepy magical powers, though. First he disappears from a burning building, and then he disappears from a grocery store just moments after Dawson spots him in the popcorn aisle. Either he runs really fast or he's...

AnimationFix: Your regular round-up of the latest animation news, from HitFix reporter Emily Rome Moonbot Studios released their latest animated short online this week, and it’s a sweet ode to imagination and forever being a child at heart. The five-minute short, Taking Flight, is also a tribute to Antonio Pasin, inventor of the Radio Flyer wagon and depicts a small boy’s boring day that turns into an adventure spent with his grandfather. It’s cute, and it has a timely if oft-heard message urging kids (and adults!) to stop looking at their screens all the time and get outside. But the film falls short of the creativity and unique charm of Moonbot’s first short, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, an ode to the power of story and a tale of renewal inspired by the destruction left by Hurricane Katrina. That short, which used a hybrid of stop-motion,...

City of Tiny Lights is a noir inspired London thriller directed by Pete Travis, based on the novel by Patrick Neate which stars Riz Ahmed (currently to be seen on Netflix starring in the much-acclaimed The Night of), Cush Jumbo, and Billie Piper.
As the film moves through present day multicultural London, it also cuts back to Tommy's youth in 1997, telling the story of his friendship with a lad called Lovely (Antonio Aakeel), his mate Stuart (George Sargeant) and his growing love for Stuart's girlfriend, Shelley (Hannah Rae).
The filmmakers spent almost five months searching for the youngsters, cast by Celestia Fox. Beyond conventional casting methods they trawled youth clubs, theatre's and schools in search for the perfect young ensemble.
Playing the younger Riz Ahmed is newcomer Reiss Kershi-Hussain (represented by Shepherd Management) who had no previous acting experience before being cast as the impressionable young Tommy.

John Legend scores his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, but the big news is that Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has two songs in the top four, but more about that later. Legend’s “All of Me” is the song that finally pushes Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” out of the top spot, after “Happy’s” 10-week reign…but just barely. “All of Me” scored .009% higher than “Happy” when Billboard tallied sales, airplay, and streaming, the three factors that go into determining chart position. It was the closest race since Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” took over No. 1 from Adele’s “Set Fire To the Rain” in 2012. “Happy” drops to No. 2. It took “All of Me” all of 30 weeks to reach No. 1. Only two songs: Los Del Rio’s “Macarena” and Lonestar’s “Amazed” took more weeks to summit, according to Billboard. On to Azalea: Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” featuring Azalea,...

Long story short: Madonna began performing "Give It 2 Me" at Madison Square Garden, welcomed onstage a special guest, and suddenly she was headlong into a duet of "Gangnam Style" with the song's maestro, Psy. Take a look:
First things first: Madonna can dance. She is damn athletic, and even if she's not exactly the provocative thruster and twirler that we remember from American Bandstand, she's got moves. Now, this duet.
You just hate to see Madonna sharing a stage with ephemeral pop phenomena. It felt contrived enough when she equipped Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., two fame-worthy and original stars, for "Gimme All Your Luvin," but Psy? Psy is the Los Del Rio of 2012, except his music is a sped-up Dance Dance Revolution aerobics mix. Here's where it ranks on my list of Madonna duets, ranked great to awful. (Pardon if I've forgotten any obvious ones.)

The Korean pop hit "Gangnam Style" has become a viral smash and brought a lot of attention to Psy, the singer of the dance hit ditty.
But only time will tell whether Psy can put together a string of other hits like Elvis, The Beatles or Rihanna -- or whether he becomes the latest musician to be tagged with the label "one-hit wonder."
Pop culture historian Brent Mann admitted he's no psychic, but bet that Psy will soon join Los Del Rio, Kyu Sakamoto and the Baja Men on the list of great one-hit wonders.
"It's pretty fascinating, but that's precisely what this is," Mann, author of the 2003 book "99 Red Balloons And 100 Other All-Time Great One-Hit Wonders," told The Huffington Post.
Even if Psy never has another hit, his song is sure to be remembered in the future -- especially on Sept. 25, semi-officially celebrated as "National One-Hit Wonder Day" by music fans across America.

Andy Warhol said everyone gets 15 minutes of fame, but if you ask one-hit wonders, they'll say you're lucky to get 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
Before reality TV started turning ordinary folks into stars, there was no faster path to the peak of celebrity -- and no more direct route back to the depths of obscurity -- than being a one-hit wonder.
Granted, there are probably good reasons why folks like Los Del Rio, the two middle-aged Spanish guys who took "Macarena" to No. 1 in 1996, never followed up their big hit, and the world was surely okay with making C.W. McCall's 1976 hit "Convoy" the only No. 1 song dedicated to Cb radio.
But we come here to praise one-hit wonders, not to bury them. For every one-and-done novelty like "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees or annoyingly catchy and cloying tune like Charlene's 1983 smash "I've Never Been To Me," there is a stone-cold...

When our girl Beyonce's latest album 4 dropped, we were torn over the amount of ballads on the set. At first, we weren't sure we were into it. King Bey's got a fantastic voice and we've always loved her ballads in the past ("Listen" is a personal fave), but an album dominated by slow jams seemed like overkill. The songs have all since grown on us and we wouldn't dare change a thing about Bey's album. It's perfection.
Looking over reviews of the album, we realized that just about every critic commented on the volume of ballads on 4, so we weren't alone in our knee-jerk reaction to Beyonce's album. But we couldn't help but wonder why? Sure, there are a lot of ballads in there and it merits mention, but the few middling reviews the acclaimed album received were less critical of the songs themselves and...

No one, it seems, wants to live in a Barbie World. At least not now, anyway.
Rolling Stone has unveiled their reader-voted Top 10 worst songs of the 90s, with Aqua's "Barbie Girl" earning the number one dishonor. It's a real display of public regret; the song, by the Danish-Norwegian balladeers, sold 8 million records worldwide, and topped 13 different music charts in 11 countries.
The song peaked at seven on the Us Billboard Hot 100, which gives the nation a warped bragging right over all the rest of the high-pitched dance torture enthusiast nations.
Coming in second was another dance treat, Los Del Rio's Bar Mitzvah and wedding anthem "Macarena," and then in third was Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart."
