Palisades Park Pictures has secured a distribution deal with Entertainment Film Distributors (Efd) for U.K. rights to “The Magic Faraway Tree,” an adaptation of Enid Blyton’s beloved children’s novel.

The family adventure feature stars Andrew Garfield (“The Amazing Spider-Man”), Claire Foy (“The Crown”), Nicola Coughlan (“Bridgerton”), Jessica Gunning (“Baby Reindeer”), Jennifer Saunders (“Absolutely Fabulous”) and Rebecca Ferguson (“Dune”).

Anthony Hopkins’ latest indie film “Eyes in the Trees” has found itself at the center of a FBI complaint.

Producer Daemon Hillin first told Deadline that he is being extorted over 18 minutes of unedited footage from the feature that was allegedly obtained through hacking. The footage includes all of Hopkins’ scenes that were filmed in Los Angeles in 2023; the movie received a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement waiver to remain in production. Hillin said a “Korean Zombie address” has sent him “disturbing and very detailed emails.”

The emails, obtained by IndieWire, demand $200,000 in cryptocurrency. Hillin says he’s not paying.

One email reads, in part: “We will also send clips of your project to potential major buyers in the market . we will email bomb them through filters with your content i.e. Netflix, Amazon, peacock, sony, AMC, Lionsgate, Blumhouse. We have emails to all the strategic people in charge of content acquisitions in those companies.

The 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau, which was directed by John Frankenheimer (who replaced Richard Stanley after half a week of filming), is a well-known disaster, but that was just one of many cinematic adaptations H.G. Wells’ 1896 novel has received over the years. Til Death Do Us Part is a lackluster horror/action thriller with wonky dialogue, an overlong runtime, and a tedious script. The film has potential with gore and enjoyable kills, but the storytelling falls short, making it a chore to watch. Natalie Burn's performance as the runaway bride is the saving grace of the film, but overall, it lacks proper execution and a cohesive script.

American character actor Tobin Bell is, of course, a true horror star after appearing throughout the entire Saw franchise as the antagonist John Kramer, aka Jigsaw. More recently, Bell has worked on other movies of this genre, including the Mexican production Belzebuth, directed by Emilio Portes, and The Call, which just hit theaters and drive-ins in the US last Friday, October 2. Directed by Timothy Woodward Jr., The Call follows a group of teenagers who hold a grudge against an old lady, Edith Cranston (Lin Shaye), who’s apparently a witch and the unpunished responsible party for the disappearance years ago of a local girl, the sister of one of the teen protagonists. Pretty much my whole reason for giving The Final Wish a watch was because Lin Shaye stars in it. She is a seal of approval for me and I know that even if the movie disappoints, then I will at least see a good performance from the veteran actress. That said, this also features Tony Todd, another reliable horror icon and had some decent-looking poster artwork, so it had at least a few things going for it.

Voltage Pictures arrives at the Efm with international sales rights to upcoming horror feature The Call, which stars the Saw franchise’s Tobin Bell and Lin Shaye from the Insidious films.

Timothy Woodward Jr. directs from a screenplay by Patrick Stibbs about a group of friends who tormented an elderly woman suspected to be a witch. After the old woman dies, the friends are forced to call a phone installed in her casket. To their horror, someone on the other end picks up.

Country music star Trace Adkins continues to carve a niche for himself, along with several notches on his six-shooter, as an imposing presence in indie Westerns with his persuasive portrayal of a tarnished lawman in “The Outsider,” an unusually dark and brooding shoot ’em up capably directed by genre specialist Timothy Woodward Jr..

The movie itself, a deliberately paced, pared-to-essentials oater that clocks in at a lean and mean 86 minutes, might ruffle the feathers of traditionalists — i.e., the very people usually clamoring loudest for Westerns these days — who are easily upset by salty language, coarse behavior and other R-worthy elements in this unrated, family-unfriendly feature. The Final Wish is a Gothic tale from director Timothy Woodward Jr. (Gnome Alone). Written by Jeffrey Reddick and William Halfon, the film recently had its World Premiere at La's Screamfest Film Festival, in October. Exclusive: Cinedigm has acquired North American distribution rights to Silencer, an action thriller starring Johnny Messner and Danny Trejo and longtime Mma rivals Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. A September theatrical release is in the works.

Timothy Woodward Jr.’s pic centers on a retired hitman (Messner) who must resurrect all of his deadly skills and fight a one-man war against his former employer who has kidnapped his step-daughter. Sean Mick penned the script, which pits Messner’s and Ortiz’s characters against Trejo’s and Liddell’s characters.
