As Marvel Studios created deafening screams of fanboy excitement with its Comic-Con panel for Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, you might well wonder what they have planned further down the line.
There have been various hints at the next wave of Marvel comic book adaptations after The Avengers hits the big screen in May 2012.
Marvel Studios president of production Kevin Feige provided the latest update in an interview at the convention.
According to IGN, Feige revealed: "What happens after [The Avengers] is what's being discussed now. Obviously, you've heard about Doctor Strange. I've been a vocal fan of Strange for a long time. Black Panther, I think, I mentioned recently. Fraction and Brubaker's reinvention of Iron Fist has gotten me excited to do some version of that in our world."
He acknowledged there was a grain of truth in online rumours that some characters might be adapted into short films (rather than full-scale,...

Earlier this week it was announced that Marvel Entertainment hired a couple of screenwriters to take a crack at the live-action Dr. Strange film which I'm really excited about! I'm really looking forward to seeing Dr. Strange brought to life, but not in the form of Patrcik Dempsey.
After it was announced that Marvel was moving forward with Dr. Strange, Bleeding Cool reported that the Grey's Anatomy star expressed interest in playing the title character.
Patrick Dempsey, really wants to play a different kind of Doctor. Doctor Strange. And comics artist-working-in-Hollywood Arne Starr seems to agree, whipping up this piece of art that got Dempsey seen by Marvel Studios.
I can't help but think this is a joke, but if it's for real, and he ended up getting the part... that would suck. I'm just not a big fan of Dempsey and I don't think he has what it takes to play Dr.

Trailers and photos are beginning to leak out from the most disparaged unreleased movie of the year.
We’re finally seeing something from Seth Rogen’s Green Hornet movie, set for release next January. Already, that’s a bad sign – usually, big deal action flicks are released in summer or around Christmas, and Green Hornet was moved back from this summer into an all-but-invisible slot.
The stuff that’s been released is, of course, the really cool stuff. There’s nothing that says this is all the cool stuff the movie has to offer, but we always have that sneaking suspicion. Seth doesn’t look too bad– sort of plumpish Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. And Jay Chou looks like he can handle the martial arts. It other words, there was nothing to chase me away, like in the Spirit and Jonah Hex trailers. And there’s at least one thing that’s really cool-looking.

The Enchanted star wants to play the Master of the Mystic Arts
Patrick Dempsey is pitching himself for the role of Doctor Stephen Strange, reports Bleeding Cool, who also brings an artist's rendering of the "Grey's Anatomy" star in the role.
The image is drawn by Arne Starr, a comic book artist whose career has, as of late, taken a turn to Hollywood acting. Click the image below to see the full picture at Bleeding Cool:
Dr. Strange most recently appeared outside of comic books in an animated film. Check out the trailer below:...

So now that Marvel's Dr. Strange will be getting a full-length feature instead of a simple 10-minute short, everyone is ready to speculate as to who should play him. Names like Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Liam Neeson have already appeared on fans' wish lists, but it's hard to believe that any of them would actually take the role. So what about an up-and-coming actor like Patrick Dempsey? Bleeding Cool seems to suggest that the actor is more than interested. So what do we think of Dempsey as the sorcerer supreme? He has already spent the last five years playing a doctor on Grey's Anatomy, he's age appropriate for the role, and, with a role in the upcoming Transformers 3, it looks like he may be trying to change genres from rom-coms to action films. One fan of the casting is comic book artist Arne Starr who has already drawn up...

Put the pieces together: Guillermo Del Toro was talking with Neil Gaiman about doing a Dr. Strange film as far back as February 2008. Now Del Toro is cutting a deal with Disney... and Disney now owns Marvel, which of course is the home of the good Doctor. Sounds like the stars are aligning... but we already had a recent animated Doctor Strange...

The original CSI series has a habit of setting episodes in the worlds of various subcultures -- they've had cases about furries, vampires and the Bdsm scene. Surprisingly, it's taken until the ninth season for them to get around to solving a crime at a science fiction convention.
Tune in tonight to CBS at 9 Pm Est for the episode "A Space Oddity," where two of the lab rats, Hodges and Wendy, go to blow off steam at a convention for a fictional show called, "Astro Quest" (that bears a striking resemblance to a Certain Program about a 5-Year Mission) and find their work following them when a murder takes place.
This episode is going to be a field day for TV Sf fans -- behind the scenes, it's a Star Trek/Battlestar Galactica reunion party (with quite a few other series represented). If you're a credits reader, you may recall...

You've probably heard the schoolyard snap: "Yo'mama's so dumb she failed a Rorschach test." I never thought I'd find a case where it's actually true, but lo and behold, Arne Starr pointed me to one.
Perhaps you know the old joke: A man goes to a psychologist and says, "Doc, I got a real problem... I can't stop thinking about sex."
The psychologist says, "Well let's see what we can find out", and pulls out his ink blots. "What is this a picture of?"
The man looks the picture upside down then turns it around and states, "That's a man and a woman on a bed making love."
"Uh-huh. And what is this a picture of?"
"Well, that's a man and a woman on a bicycle making love."
The psychologist tries again with the third ink blot. "What is this a picture of?"
"Obviously, that's a man and a woman in a volcano making love.

On Sunday, we wrote how inker Arne Starr had gone Hollywood, working on Grey's Anatomy and Mad Men-- except it turns out that with Hollywood gone comics crazy, he hasn't put comics behind him. I'll let Arne explain:
This all started when I found out from a friend who works on Grey's Anatomy with me that Patrick Dempsey had gone to Marvel Studios to see about getting them to do Doctor Strange, with that certain synergistic connection of Dr. Strange starting out as a surgeon. So I did a piece of art that showed Patrick as the character. Since then, Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios has mentioned in an interview on MTV that we shouldn't be surprised to see Dr. Strange on the 2012 movie slate.
At this time, I was also working on my other regular show, Mad Men, and brought this up to Jon Hamm, telling him I...

In the 80's and 90's, one of the busiest inkers in the comics business was Arne Starr. A protege of Dick Giordano, Arne's work graced the pages of The Legion of Super-Heroes, Nexus, Star Trek, and Sachs & Violens (who are now showing up in Fallen Angel), even doing uncredited work on Crisis On Infinite Earths, and he was a mainstay of a lot of east coast conventions, usually running the movie previews. Then he left the business in the mid-nineties recession.
So how come you haven't seen him lately?
Well, you probably have seen him-- just not in places where you expected.
Arne Starr packed up his bags and moved to Beverly (Hills, that is) and has been doing lots of work as an actor, finding himself doing tremendous amounts of background work all over TV and movies. Some of his more recognizable appearances are as an Attending Physician on Grey's Anatomy,...
