Viola Davis, who plays U.S. President Danielle Sutton in upcoming action thriller feature “G20,” says she didn’t model the role after anyone in particular.
“There was no one that I could model her after,” she told Variety Thursday before the awards ceremony for the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, where she will be honored for her career as an actor and producer.
The film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and MRC Film, sees terrorists take over the G20 Summit, with Sutton bringing her statecraft and military experience to defend her family, fellow leaders and the world.
Sutton was “a completely fictitious character that was born out of the imagination of several writers,” she said. “It was the sort of thing you’d imagine as a kid, just playing the most heroic character you could possibly play, and you create Danielle Sutton, who was a war hero...

Following Will Trent Season 2’s epic cliffhanger that left both Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) and Angie’s (Erika Christensen) futures hanging in the balance, the long-awaited third season promises to answer at least some of our most pressing questions. It will also introduce some new characters, such as Marion Alba, played by Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez — who is not related to the show’s star, despite sharing a surname. However, the two have been good friends for over a decade. “A lot of this came about because we’ve been dying to work with each other,” Gina Rodriguez shared about Rodríguez. “Even though Ramón Rodríguez is my close friend, before I joined the cast, I wasn’t really super into cop procedurals. So I binged everything and I became obsessed. I also realized that not all cop procedurals are created equal. And this one is just really, really...

Will Trent is getting some major star power as Gina Rodriguez will be joining in season 3!
The procedural's fans are still reeling from the wild season 2 finale. Angie (Erika Christensen) realized that it was her young protegee Crystal who'd been killing sex offenders as revenge for a past attack. Crystal accidentally died with Angie trying to cover her crimes.
But Will (Ramón Rodriguez) figured out not just that but that Angie had lied about killing the abuser Lenny when it was Crystal who did it. After briefly imagining keeping this quiet so he and Angie could have a life together, Will was forced to arrest her for evidence tampering and false testimony.
The season ended with Angie headed to jail while Will packed up and left town. That's left fans eager to see what happens next although season 3 won't debut until early 2025.

The cast of Will Trent has worked hard solving cases and bettering themselves, and the title character, Will Trent, had a rough year.
The main cast has remained mostly the same since the procedural began in January 2023.
While Will Trent was an instant hit, Season 2 was even better. The series explored the backstories of each main character, giving the series a twist, especially since the younger versions of Will, Angie, and Amanda were so realistic.
The talented cast makes us cry, smile, and laugh each new season as we root for them.
This cast is unique because some have been friends for years, which shows in their on-screen connections.

For Ramón Rodríguez, the star and co-executive producer of ABC’s “Will Trent,” there are is a degree of comfort in knowing that the hit crime drama will return for a third season. “There’s definitely a sense of excitement and security– which is a rare thing as an artist or as anyone in this industry– to know you have work coming,” he says in an exclusive chat with Gold Derby (watch the video interview above). However, the actor says that that sense of security is tempered by the pressure to maintain and even improve the quality of the show. “I’m always constantly trying to search for how can we continue to elevate what we’ve done so far,” explains Rodríguez. “How do we keep audiences engaged and interested? How can we push the envelope and what else can we do with Will?”

We'll have to wait until midseason to learn what happens next on Will Trent.
While these long hiatuses are challenging, we'll get almost double the episodes in Season 3.
Will Trent Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger that divided the characters and the audience when Will made a polarizing decision that affected one character's fate.
We don't know anything definite about Season 3, except that it will begin even more dramatically after that finale.
Will Trent focuses on two teams: the Gbi, which consists of Amanda, Will, and Faith, and the Apd, which features Det. Ormewood, Angie, Captain Heller, and Franklin.
Sometimes, the teams have merged to solve challenging crimes or because one of their own was in danger.
Amanda offered Angie a chance to switch from the Apd and join the Gbi, but that offer may be off the table now, and the teams may not be as amicable.

Let's discuss what...

The final episode of Will Trent Season 2 raised concern about Erika Christensen's future on the series as Angie Polaski.
Angie has been part of the Will Trent cast since the series' debut in 2023, working with the Atlanta Police Department and bringing a lightness and sense of humor to the darkness that comes with her work.
She also has an on-again/off-again relationship with Ramón Rodríguez's Will Trent, although that relationship and much more surrounding Polaski could be in jeopardy after recent events.

[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers about Will Trent‘s Season 2 finale episode, “Do You See the Vision?”] Welp. Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) has made the choice he never wanted to. Not only did he finally discern that Angie (Erika Christensen) was not the one who killed her former abuser Lenny, but Crystal (Chapel Elizabeth Oaks), but he also realized that Angie’s decision directly led Crystal to become the spree killer who’d left so many bodies scattered around town in retaliation for their own heinous acts. Though Will and Angie had finally become committed to each other — to the point that they were even envisioning adding little humans to their fancy new dining room table — he decided to turn her in for her crimes… but not before he saw a vision of what kind of happy life might be in store for the couple if he covered for her. After a ...

Makeup design doesn’t always mean prosthetics or extremes — that’s why the Emmy Awards smartly single out contemporary makeup design as its own category. But too often, those more immediately arresting designs are the ones that get all the attention. Not anymore. Join IndieWire in celebrating the makeup artists creating subtle, character-specific work for contemporary shows.
“Will Trent,” the ABC procedural that just ended its second season, spends a lot of time with its characters on the job. That means a certain look is required for its cast: something natural but not so natural that it’s blasted out by the lights and the sharp eye of the camera.

The spree killer case is going to be the top priority for all of our favorite detectives in Will Trent‘s Season 2 finale episode, “Do You See the Vision”? And in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, it’s clear they’ll be taking extraordinary (and unusual) measures to try and solve the case. In this first look at Tuesday’s episode, Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez), Faith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson), Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), and Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn) put their heads together to review the newest evidence in a room littered with takeout containers. (They’re on some kind of odd cleaning strike until they break the case for … reasons.) Yet another dead body has been discovered, and the circumstances match the rash of other victims that have popped up around town. “Blake Turner was not a registered sex offender, but apparently, he was your standard nasty a** creep,...

When Will Trent leading man Ramón Rodríguez visited TVLine’s New York City offices late last month, he warned that Season 2 would end on “a bit” of a cliffhanger: “There are some things that [Will] gains, which is great, and there are some things that he loses, which is not great.”

I think some people are actually going to love it and feel vindicated and feel very happy about it. But I think a lot of people are going to be very upset,” Christensen warned. The official description for the episode, which airs next Tuesday, May 21 at 8/7c on ABC, is: “Will [Ramón Rodríguez], Faith, and Angie [Iantha Richardson] find themselves embroiled in a series of cases where a similar marker links the murders of several sex offenders. When a reliable performer like The Rookie, which has always been on the fall schedule if not delayed by a pandemic or strike, is suddenly not in a network’s starting lineup for the season, fans understandably would be worried.
Magnifying their concerns is the fact that The Rookie is headed into its seventh season, which is when a lot of broadcast series are canceled these days, including two ABC dramas, Station 19 and The Good Doctor, this year.
Meanwhile, Will Trent, which launched in midseason two years ago, had its first chance to get on the ABC fall schedule but didn’t get it.
Keeping the two dramas on the bench does not signal a lack of confidence in them.
“The opposite,” Disney TV Group President Craig Erwich told Deadline in an interview tied to the Disney upfront presentation.

There have been a lot of tough cancelations this month for the 2024-25 television seasons. Networks canceled beloved shows with big ratings, including shockers like Blue Bloods. Other shows were canceled with smaller viewer numbers, but in what were still favorites.
One of the shows that ABC has canceled falls into the latter category. Some fans argue it is causing an even bigger lack of diversity in an already generic TV schedule.
ABC Cancels Popular Latino-Led Sitcom
In a disappointing move, ABC canceled one of its most popular sitcoms. The network has announced that they canceled Not Dead Yet after two seasons on the air. This is an interesting move since the sitcom was the most-watched comedy on ABC in four years. However, the numbers dropped in Season 2 and ABC pulled the plug.

After two seasons, ABC has canceled the Gina Rodriguez-led and executive-produced comedy series Not Dead Yet.
Written by Casey Johnson and David Windsor, Not Dead Yet centers on newly single and feeling-old Nell Serrano (Rodriguez), a self-described disaster who works to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. A once-successful journalist, Nell put her career on hold to help her fiancé get his restaurant off the ground. Following their breakup, she takes the only job she can get – writing obituaries – which at first seems like a step backward but ultimately might be exactly what she needs to move forward.
Hannah Simone, Lauren Ash, Rick Glassman, Joshua Banday, Angela E. Gibbs, Jesse Garcia and Brad Garrett also star.
