SenoReality Pictures and Ministry Machine are co-producing the upcoming indie horror feature Nailbiter. This film combines two terrors in one as a tornado bears down on a mother and her three kids. Their hiding space turns out to be a poor choice with something waiting below. Hopefully that something is not a backed up septic tank. As well, the poster does not give too many clues as to what that something is; however, this first graphic does warn viewers: "in the shadow of the storm it waits." And horror fans will not have to wait long for Nailbiter to release. 2011 is the expected launch date for this terror filled pic'.
As well, SenoReality Pictures is a film production and editing company based in Lawrence, Ks, which has recently completed the films Torture Porn, Next Caller and the award winning Woman's Intuition. Nailbiter continues the SenoReality strategy to create strong thrillers with interesting scenarios.

Mandy Bannon Mandy Bannon is the the lead actress of the recently released horror film Last Breath which was directed by Ty Jones and also starred Aaron Laue. Mandy Bannon turned in a dynamic performance in a physically and mentally challenging role as a wife whose marriage is on its last breath. She is token hostage, along with her husband, by a madman who forces the couple into an array of deadly and gruesome situations. In Last Breath, Mandy Bannon had to be appealing. She had to be resourceful. She had to cry. She had to be sad. She had to be angry. She had to be drunk. She had to run for her life. She had to deal with hundreds on top of hundreds of rats! She had to do it all! And she did it all admirably proving that she just isn't a one note actress, but an...

Last Breath Last Breath, which stars Ty Jones, Mandy Bannon and Jeff East, deals with a couple whose marriage is on its last leg. Surveying a warehouse type building that they just bought together, they are abducted by a trench coat wearing madman who forces them into an array of deadly traps and into psychological warfare with one another. Aaron Laue plays the antagonist of Last Breath. Aaron Laue's been in a variety of supporting roles or short films, but with Last Breath he takes it to an entirely different level turning in a chilling, highly effective performance that's a step up from the work that he has previously done. He turns in this performance of a broken down, sad and twisted villain that's at his wits end. To sum it up, Aaron Laue brings dimensionality to what could have been a one note role. He makes his character vivid and real.

A couple whose marriage is on its last breath are kidnapped and tortured by a mysterious man in an old abandoned warehouse that they recently purchased.
The idea of a thought, a memory, a notion, that is so powerful that it manifests itself into something is always an intriguing and welcomed concept, something the genre really hasn't seen since Candyman. Director/writer Ty Jones asks the viewer to question the individuals role on other people in society and how there actions shape them and their choices. To go any further would be to spoil the film, but Jones has many ideas and he has been able to take them and fashion it into one cohesive film. The plot structure is a bit too overtly reminiscent of the Saw series and some of the film's flashback sequences simply don't work,...

If you actually ventured past your multiplex and watched horror films other then the uninspired "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake, the strictly putting it in 3D for the money "My Soul to Take", the pointless remake of Let The Right One In entitled "Let Me In", the lifeless remake of "The Crazies" and other mostly bland mainstream horror releases that made up 2010, you would discover a wonderful world of indie horror films that stood out. George A. Romero showed that he's still got it with Survival of the Dead. Comedy and horror were brought together seamlessly (for once!) in President's Day & All About Evil. And plenty of other terrific independent films stood out. However, it wasn't all rosy for the independent horror films of 2010, as they also produced some highly publicized stinkers or films that finally came off the shelf after gathering dust for years. Still, for once, 2010 had...

"Imagine 'Saw' with a higher purpose". In director Ty Jones's Last Breath (2010), a husband (Ty Jones) and wife (Mandy Bannon), whose marriage is on its last leg, its last breath, find themselves imprisoned by a sadistic killer (Aaron Laue)--forced to make choices that will ultimately determine their family's survival or demise. Last Breath also features Jeff East of Stan Winston's Pumpkinhead in a cameo appearance. Ty Jones wrote the screenplay, directed and acted in Last Breath while Aaron Laue stars and produces. We had the chance to ask Ty Jones a few questions about Last Breath, here is what he had to say.
Who is Ty Jones and what is he all about?
I started making films 10 years ago with a dream to make movies that would change the world. I know that may seem idealistic to most, but I believe we have the ability to move,...

Director/writer: Ty Jones.
Ty Jones has written, directed, and starred in the Ministry Machine Production Last Breath, which won an Audience Choice Best Feature at the Omaha Film Festival. Ministry is also already working on another environmental horror film entitled Nailbiter, which is in pre-production. Last Breath is an excellent independent horror and fantasy film from Philadelphia, which puts a young couple in dire circumstances to heal hurts from the past. A cheating husband is shown the path to redemption in a film that crosses genres, while appealing to both genders, despite several disturbing scenes of psychological and physical torture.
Michael Johnson (Ty Jones) is a father of one, a semi-devout husband and a sales agent for a construction company. Failing in the sexual loyalty area of his relationship, Michael succumbs to the beauty of a company secretary and pays for this indiscretion with much torturous pain later in the film.

We've been waiting with bated breath, and yes, bitten nails, for further news about Patrick Rea's second feature film, Nailbiter, and our patience paid off today when Rea sent over the flick's second teaser trailer. From the looks of things, a storm is coming indeed!
Rea also provided the following update: Editing on what we shot over the five weeks in the summer has begun. We're on [filming] hiatus now till the spring [with] only about 16 pages of script left to shoot. We are aiming to have the film completely finished by the fall 2010. Post-production is going to take some time. We suspect the main factors contributing to Nailbiter's long post process are the monster effects sequences we've been promised since first hearing above the project.

Kansas filmmaker Patrick Rea of SenoReality Pictures, creators of numerous acclaimed short films, sent along a couple of new photos (see them below) with word that five weeks of shooting have been completed on his latest feature Nailbiter. “We have about two more weeks that will be shot later to complete some of the monster effects and various pickups,” Rea tells us.
Nailbiter, which we last reported on here, takes place during a tornado that forces a mother and her three daughters to take shelter in a storm cellar—where a different sort of terror of the monstrous variety awaits. Rea scripted the movie with Kendall Sinn, the producer is Aaron Laue and the cast is headed by Erin McGrane, Meg Saricks, Emily Boresow, and Sally Spurgeon. On the shorts front, Rea’s Mrs. Brumett’S Garden and Do Not Disturb screened last weekend at Louisville, Ky’s Fright Night Film Fest,...

We're pleased to announce that Dread Central is home to the online premiere of one of our favorite indie filmmakers' new short, "Now That You're Dead!" Writer/director Patrick Rea was kind enough to provide DC with access to his latest venture, which he describes as "a dark-humored battle between a cheating husband, a mistress, and a murderous wife with a supernatural twist."
"Now That You're Dead" is a SenoReality / Free State Studios production that was shot in the Lawrence, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri, area. The cast includes Jennifer Plas, who also appeared in Rea's debut feature length film, The Empty Acre (review), Meagan Flynn, and Aaron Laue.
Currently Rea is working on getting the balance of funding together for his sophomore feature, Nail Biter, and promises more news on that front shortly. In the meantime, dig on "Now That You're Dead," and keep it here for updates.
