Olesia Shewchuk was born Olesia Chuchman to a Ukrainian family in Winnipeg, MB, where she performed at an early age on stages as a dancer, singer and pianist. After graduating from the University of Winnipeg with an Honours degree in Chemical Physics, she moved to Seattle, where she pursued formal training in acting. She was immediately cast as a supporting lead in her first thriller feature film, The Cryogenus, as well as a number of stage roles. After her experience onset, she attended film school at the Seattle Film Institute for film production. Since then, she has been involved in many aspects of film production - acting, directing, editing, composing, cinematography and producing on independent short and feature films. She lives in Vancouver, with her family, where she acts on TV and in theatre and musicals, sings as a soloist with orchestras, makes films, writes scripts and music for film and musicals, conducts and arranges for a folk choir, and teaches voice and filmmaking.
