Kevin sits down to rate and review Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, a sequel to the 2020 action horror Angels Fallen starring Denise Richards (Starship Troopers), Josh Burdett (Loving Vincent), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), and UFC legend Randy Couture (The Expendables).

Haunted by the war in Iraq, a depressed and faithless Gabriel is approached by the mysterious Balthazar, who recruits Gabriel to stop the evil Archangel Michael from raising an army of the dead to take over the world. With the help of his old platoon, Gabriel sets off to find the Warriors of Peace, their only hope in defeating Michael and his army.

Director Ali Zamani, known for his work on the first instalment and the horror thriller Incision, helmed the next chapter of the franchise – which is out now on digital and on-demand from Uncork’d Entertainment.

You can add Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace to the list of sequels nobody asked for or thought they’d ever see. Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, a sequel to the 2020 action horror film called Angels Fallen, has been in production for a while now. Long enough that a teaser trailer, the one in the embed above, was even ready to be released back in early December. But according to Deadline, the movie is still filming – and they’ve just revealed that Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) and Randy Couture (The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre) are in the cast!

A few months ago, we heard that Denise Richards (Valentine) had signed on to star in Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, a sequel to the 2020 action horror film called Angels Fallen. Angels Fallen was distributed by Uncork’d Entertainment, and that company will be releasing the sequel sometime in 2023. With the new year quickly approaching, a teaser trailer for Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace has been unveiled and can be seen in the embed above.

Richards was in the news last month because she was shot at in a road rage incident. Thankfully, she made it through that situation unharmed.

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the horror feature “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace,” featuring Denise Richards and set for release in summer 2023. Richards plays a tough weapons expert who clearly knows how to give demons the what-for, and you can see for yourself in the first teaser, exclusively via TheWrap.

Also featuring Arifin Putra (“The Raid 2”) and starring Josh Burdett, “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace” sees a group of demon hunters led by Gabriel — an Afghan war vet struggling with some personal demons of his own — on a mission to defeat a terrifying army of the undead. Outfitted, of course, with some fairly awesome weapons by Richards’ character.

Given that the trailer confirms that, per the title, the Angels have already fallen, things look bad for our heroes. Luckily for them, and us, things look likely to get pretty gross,...

Denise Richards will team with “The Raid 2” star Arifin Putra for “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace.” The film, which shoots in Los Angeles in August, is a sequel to 2020 action horror film “Angels Fallen.”

Ali Zamani, who directed the first film, and previously directed family comedy “C.I. Ape” and horror thriller “Incision,” will continue the franchise, typified by its metaphysical mania and muscle power. With Nicola Posener and Houston Rines in the lead roles, the first film also employed the services of veterans Michael Madsen, Eric Roberts and Nicholas Turturro.

In the sequel, the hero, Gabriel, rounds up his motley crew of demon slayers, styled as the ‘Warriors of Peace’ to fight an apocalypse-bound army of the dead. Richards’ character is a tough weapons expert charged with arming Gabriel’s crew. Michael Teh, Joshua Burdett, Lee Kholafai, Korrina Rico, Silvio Samic and Greg Canestrari round out the international principal cast.

A troubled man who has given up on life. A blind girl lost all alone in Los Angeles. A chance meeting that will turn the man's life around. Ali Zamani's drama may sound like something you've seen before, and there are echoes of It's A Wonderful Life throughout, but its verité style and naturalistic performances give it a very different character.

It's sugary, to be sure. The music is the biggest problem here, telling viewers what to feel instead of letting them explore for themselves, and it becomes especially heavy-handed towards the end, when Zamani also lets rip with a few visual clichés, but this is hardly an uncommon problem in films of this type. There's also some serious over-egging of the moral themes, reducing their impact. Zamani needs to trust his audience more. This aside, however, the story evolves in a refreshingly straightforward way and provides a very different experience.

Freestyle Digital Media has acquired U.S. rights to Divos!, a high school comedy directed by Ryan Patrick Bartley. It will bow day and date on digital and DVD on July 14. Matt Steele penned the script and stars as Ricky Redmond, a self-proclaimed “Broadway Legend” who is forced to share the spotlight with the school’s star athlete (Brundidge) in the high school musical. Marissa Jaret Winokur, Nicole Sullivan, Jayson Bernard, Jason Stuart and Jake Busey also star in the ensemble. “There’s always that one kid who takes the school play way too seriously,” said Steele. “Divos! is for those kids whose year is made or broken the day the cast list is posted.” Steele also produces with Bernard, Roberto Rosario Jr., Bartley, Javier Montoya, Maria Capp and Kristi Kilday.

Action/fantasy horror can be very hit or miss. I have to say in general I quite enjoy it as a sub genre. Movies like the Underworld, Resident Evil and Blade franchises or Dracula Untold, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and The Last Witch Hunter are all pretty entertaining films. Don’t get me wrong, these aren’t ‘great’ movies but when kept at about ninety minutes, they’re an enjoyable and fun watch. So despite its awful title, this is what I expected from Angels Fallen.

It is clearly influenced by the movies mentioned above but does not have anywhere near the budget. A budget that it very much needs to pull off its ideas.
