Gamescom 2024 has been and gone, with it, hours upon hours of meetings, hands-on, and demos of upcoming experiences for the next few years. As a confessed Dying Light franchise fan since the beginning, it was a no-brainer to attend Techland’s hands-off demonstration and full reveal for their latest foray into the zombie-slaying world, and it didn’t disappoint.
While Dying Light 2 may have disappointed a few fans, it was mostly a step in the right direction for the franchise, and Dying Light: The Beast looks to double down on that progression with entirely new mechanics, gameplay features, and of course, a return to the first game’s protagonist, Kyle Crane.

The Arkham series is getting a new entry into its highly praised lineup. But there is also some controversy as the announcement to make the upcoming Batman: Arkham Shadow a VR exclusive for the Meta Quest 3 has left players confused.
All an Arkham game needed to do was stay true to its roots and deliver the gripping Batman experience that fans know and love. The community argues that the series didn’t need VR to evolve. Netflix has revealed a new trailer for the animated movie The Imaginary, the second feature film by Studio Ponoc, the animation house in Japan that is pretty much the successor to Studio Ghibli. Rudger is a boy no one can see, imagined by Amanda to share her thrilling make-believe adventures. When Rudger arrives alone at "The Town of Imaginaries" – where forgotten Imaginaries live and find work – he faces a mysterious threat. Directed by renowned animator Yoshiyuki Momose, The Imaginary is an unforgettable adventure of love, loss, and the healing power of imagination. With the release of films like John Krasinski’s If, Blumhouse’s Imaginary, and even Ale de Jong’s 1991 comedy Drop Dead Fred, the power of imagination flows strongly throughout Hollywood. While each of the films mentioned above brings something different to the table, Yoshiyuki Momose’s latest animated feature, The Imaginary, hits differently. Studio Ponoc is proud to present The Imaginary trailer today, previewing an upcoming animated film to boggle the senses, stir emotions, and remind you of friends long forgotten.
Studio Ponoc‘s The Imaginary portrays the depths of humanity and creativity through the eyes of young Amanda and her imaginary companion, Rudger, a boy no one can see imagined by Amanda to share her thrilling make-believe adventures. 2024 has been a big year for movies about imaginary friends, between the Blumhouse horror film "Imaginary" and John Krasinski's live-action family film "If." Now, Netflix is getting in on the imagination-based fun with Studio Ponoc's "The Imaginary," which already looks to be one of the best animated films of the year. With breathtaking hand-drawn animation and a groundbreaking technique of animating light and shadow, "The Imaginary" looks stunning and seems to be introducing a whimsical, heartfelt, and emotionally charged story to back up the gorgeous visuals. Here's the official synopsis of the film, which is based on A.F. Harold and illustrator Emily Gravett's beloved and award-winning novel of the same name:
"Studio Ponoc's 'The Imaginary' portrays the depths of humanity and creativity through the eyes of young Amanda and her imaginary companion, Rudger, a boy no one can see imagined by Amanda to share her thrilling make-believe adventures.

When Assassin’s Creed: Origins was released at the tail-end of October 2017, it came during a moment of transition and epiphany for the long-running video game franchise. After being launched a decade earlier, almost to the day, there had been a new Assassin’s Creed title virtually every year from the game publisher Ubisoft. Until 2016. Due to spending so many years returning to the same formula, Assassin’s Creed developers realized they needed time off; they needed to regroup and reimagine; they needed bold change in what their vision of the future could be.
Abubakar Salim could relate. Fresh out of a classical education at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Salim did not necessarily anticipate discovering a career in video game voice acting and motion-capture, yet his casting in the central role of Assassin’s Creed: Origins as Bayek of Siwa had a life-altering effect.

It's not unusual for the movies to come out of manga and anime series to feel a little off. The stories are often non-canon or otherwise abridged adaptations of ongoing story arcs, and the best thing you can hope for as a viewer is that a given movie captures some hint of what you enjoy about the series. While the movies may not hit the heights of the series, they can still deliver excellent character moments and action.
Whether or not the "Naruto" films deliver on that is up for debate. As the manga and anime series focused on the growth and development of its title character, a young ninja in a fantasy world on the path to glory, the movies give him and some of his coterie of allies non-canonical missions on which they can prove their mettle. For a series weighed down with a large number of "filler...

There are only a handful of universal truths in this world, and one of them is that Kevin Conroy is the best Batman of all time. Period. Case closed. Don't @ me. For over three decades, Conroy has voiced the Dark Knight across film, television, video games, and so much more, becoming the definitive performer of the character. Similar to the way Mark Hamill's portrayal of the Joker has influenced just about every rendition of the character that followed, Conroy's Batman voice is inimitable -- but that doesn't stop people from trying.
Vulture assembled the complete oral history of "Batman: The Animated Series" back in 2017, which contains some of the most insightful behind-the-scenes knowledge of all things animated Batman. In a surprise to no one, Conroy said that if there's ever been a different actor voicing Batman, it's because he wasn't asked to play the part.

The best of DC Comics’ Elseworlds stories where when the writers challenged the conventional wisdom, upending how we envisioned our heroes. Among the more celebrated of these stories was Mark Millar and Dave Johnson’s Superman: Red Son, imagining the Kryptonian rocket ship landing in Soviet Russia, not Kansas.
It has long been on people’s wish list for adaptation as either a live-action or animated feature. Those wishes have finally been granted in one of Warner Animation’s more successful adaptations. The film is out now from Warner Home Entertainment in all the usual formats including the popular 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD combo.

We’re not sure when or where Warner Bros. Montreal intends to officially announce Batman‘s next video game adventure, but rest assured – it’s coming. The studio, which assumed leadership of Rocksteady’s acclaimed Arkham series after it departed, has been known to be working on a new adventure starring the Dark Knight for some time.
In fact, various members of the development team have teased the project numerous times in recent months, leading many fans to believe that a global reveal was on course to be shown at last year’s Game Awards. Superman: Red Son is one of the most iconic Elseworlds stories ever created, and now it’s been adapted for the screen as the next DC animated movie to come from Warner Bros. Animation. Forget everything you know about America’s greatest superhero though as in this alternate universe, he’s no longer an American.
Based on the 2003 limited comic book series by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Killian Plunkett, Superman: Red Son explores what would happen if Kal-El’s Kryptonian pod hadn’t crashed into Smallville, Kansas but a farm in the Ukraine instead. The result is that Superman’s raised by Josef Stalin and becomes a key weapon during the height of the Cold War. The knock-on effect is that the DC universe changes around him, with different versions of the likes of Batman and Green Lantern turning up.

At long last, the sequel Batman fans have been waiting for is on the cusp of being revealed.
Or is it? Truthfully, we don’t know, but if a recent teaser provided by voice actor Roger Craig Smith is any indication, we know, at the very least, that something big is on the horizon. Together with Kevin Conroy, Smith’s performances as the Dark Knight are some of the most memorable and, as luck would have it, Warner Bros’ Arkham Series is among that number. More specifically, Smith stood in for Conroy to voice Gotham’s protector in spinoff title Origins, a fact that, when paired with recent leaks, appears to all but confirm the imminent announcement of a sequel.
You can check the frustratingly vague teaser for yourselves below:

For many, Kevin Conroy is the definitive voice of Batman and Bruce Wayne, with his performances in Batman: The Animated Series and Rocksteady's Batman Arkham games earning him legions of adoring fans. However, it sounds like WB Montreal has not recruited the actor to reprise his role in the studio's upcoming Batman game.
Little is known about this upcoming project, but WB Montreal did share a mysterious teaser on Batman Day that seemed to confirm the company is working on something Bat-related. Gamers who have been following this studio for years will know that this isn't the first time WB Montreal has made a Bat-game without Conroy.

It’s probably safe to say that most modern readers of Batman comics have heard one man’s voice in their head when sitting down to enjoy the Caped Crusader’s adventures on the printed page – and that’s Kevin Conroy’s. Ever since blowing us all away with his character-defining performances on Batman: The Animated Series, he eventually returned for other shows like Batman Beyond and Justice League Unlimited, not to mention a slew of video games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequels.
Now, with yet another interactive experience starring the Dark Knight on the way, fans far and wide are understandably wondering if Conroy will once again lend his pipes to the timeless icon. And before we get to what he had to say regarding the matter, you should know that the project is in the hands of Arkham Origins developer WB Games Montreal, and that...

Now that Batman: Gotham by Gaslight has opened the door for various other Elseworlds tales to be adapted as animated films, Superman: Red Son will be the first to follow in its footsteps. To be quite honest, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise because the limited series written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Dave Johnson has long remained one of the most popular in the line, not to mention DC fans demanding this become a reality for years.
To briefly sum up what that story entailed for those unfamiliar, what you need to know going into your first viewing of the animated flick is that it explored that possibility of baby Kal-El’s rocket landing in Soviet Russia instead of in Smallville, Kansas. As you can imagine, the Comrade of Steel had a very different upbringing than the hero we’ve come to know otherwise.

Superman: Red Son is the next iconic DC Comics story to get the animated feature treatment, and it's coming very, very soon!
Indeed, the 2003 comic miniseries from Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, and Killian Plunkett, which might just be the best known Elseworlds tale ever, is set land its animated movie in February, 2020.
The original story imagines a world where baby Kal-El's ship crashed in Ukraine instead of Kansas, and then Superman was raised as a Soviet superweapon. It features some of the sharpest Elseworlds design work ever done, adapting the entire Justice League into brutalist Soviet art styles. And it's one of those rare Millar books where the heart is bigger than the shock value of the story.

It features some of the sharpest Elseworlds design work ever done, adapting the entire Justice League into brutalist Soviet art styles. And it's one of those rare Millar books where the heart is bigger than the shock value of the story.

Inspired by characters and stories from DC’s robust portfolio, the all-new series of shorts will be included on upcoming DC Universe Movies releases, with exception of an innovative Batman: Death in the Family long-form animated short, which will anchor a compilation set for distribution in late 2020.

We recently learned that the classic DC comic Batman: The Long Halloween is going to be getting a two-part animated film from Warner Bros. Animation. Well, now another classic DC comic story is reportedly in development.
According to Revenge of the Fans, DC is developing an animated adaptation of Mark Millar’s Superman: Red Son. This is another DC Comics story that fans have been wanting to see adapted for a long time. I’m not sure why it took so long, but at least it’s happening now!
For those of you unfamiliar with Red Son, it’s an Elseworld story that puts an interesting twist on the Superman mythology… what if Superman crash-landed in the Soviet Union instead of Kansas?
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Imagine a reality where the world’s most powerful super-being does not grow up in Smallville, Kansas – or even America, for that matter…...

DC Animation’s reportedly working on an adaptation of Mark Millar’s Superman: Red Son, according to Revenge of the Fans. Given that the company’s been thorough in their quest to adapt the most highly regarded comics in their back catalogue, this doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but it is a welcome one.
Red Son hit store shelves in 2003 as part of the Elseworlds range and wonders how the DC Universe might’ve developed if Kal-El’s rocket had crashed into the Soviet Union rather than the United States. It’s a neat concept showing how the man who stands for Truth, Justice and the American Way can also just as easily become the embodiment of the Stakhanovite Soviet worker.
Upon the death of Stalin (whose name literally means ‘Man of Steel’), Superman assumes command of the Communist Party and goes on to transform the Soviet Union...
