Stayce Rene Smith was born in Tacoma, Washington and spent the first 2
years of her life living in several places, while her father was
fighting for our country in the US Army, until he was stationed in
Frankfort, Germany, when she was 3. Upon the divorce of her parents
when she was age 6, she moved back to the United States with her mother
and older brother, settling in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Stayce began her
career in the entertainment industry at the age of 9, performing in
several community and school concerts. At age of 11, she landed one of
the lead roles in her school play, which is what started her passion
for art. A year after graduating high school in 1987, she enrolled in
East Central University, majoring in Theatre; her first production was
appearing in "Anything Goes". After the birth of her son, Justin Lee,
in 1989, she put her acting on hold to raise him until 2002, when she
moved to Austin, Texas. Since arriving in Austin, she has been in
several motion films, television series and independent films.
Alongside films, she was cast in a Theatre production of "A Ride with
Bob", which went on tour in 2005. Stayce also produced a short film,
The Matter (2005), which was accepted
at SXSW and Washington D.C. Independent Film Festival.
