Argentinian filmmakers are uniting under the banner Cine Argentino Unido to gather in Berlin on Tuesday to raise awareness of the unfolding public funding crisis in the country.
National film and TV institute Incaa, which funds most of the country’s local productions, has been unable to allocate money since Nicolas Batlle resigned as head last December in protest over the election of far-right president Javier Milei.
Milei has promised a programme of deep cuts to help fix the country’s ravaged economy and the industry fears cultural funding is high up his list.

Fox TV Studios targets Latin America
Fox TV Studios is expanding its Latin America footprint through a slew of development deals with production companies in Argentina and Chile.
Under one of them, with Argentine's Rosstoc, FtvS is producing a 13-episode series for Argentine broadcaster TeleFe, which also is being developed for the U.S. market.
Based on a half-hour pilot produced by Rosstoc, "Todos Contra Juan" ("Everyone Against Juan"), which will premiere on TeleFe in July, is a dark hourlong comedy about a has-been actor whose efforts to recclaim fame are constantly sabotaged by unsuccessful relationships and embarrassing social encounters.
Penned by Argentine writer Gabriel Nesci, the show features an all-Argentine cast and production team, including Gaston Pauls (Steven Soderbergh's "Guerrilla") in the title role. During production, the local writers will be joined by American writers sent to Argentina by FtvS.
The format is already selling internationally, with broadcasters in Italy, Spain and Germany close to inking deals to produce local versions.
Under the multi-year deal with Rosstoc, FtvS is looking at several other projects, including "Feo" ("Ugly") based on a best-selling memoir of a man chronicling his life as an "ugly" person.
