Skydance and Marvel Games' Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is a World War II-set adventure revolving around newly created versions of Captain America and Black Panther.

The title, overseen by the Uncharted franchise's Amy Hennig, could be the most cinematic superhero video game to date. The reveal trailer which dropped earlier this year pointed to that being the case, though we are still waiting to see some gameplay footage.

Ahead of the game's planned 2025 release, Entertainment Weekly caught up with Hennig who said, "It led us to do a bunch of interesting things, one of which was to not only tell a story with a young Steve Rogers who's still trying to find his feet, as opposed to the more seasoned guy that we've seen in a lot of the films. It also let us introduce a new Black Panther of 1943."

Well, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is definitely on the way and is set to change Marvel’s bad luck in games other than the Spider-Man brand. The game is being developed by Skydance New Media and is inspired by the 2010 comic book limited series Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers.

In addition to its interesting story, the game will offer a movie-like graphical experience with Unreal Engine 5. Some even believe that the shared in-game scenes are not real. Fortunately, we have a statement from an actor who is part of the game’s cast, debunking these rumors.

Skydance and Marvel Games announced the game back in 2021 (via Deadline) and officially teased in 2022 (via Game Informer). The trailer of the game is rather promising as it sees Captain America and Black Panther in a face-off. This is not the first time the two characters have shared the screen in the Marvel Universe, but this is certainly the first time that they will come together like this.

Theo James will lead Netflix‘s series adaptation of the Guy Ritchie movie The Gentlemen. This news comes after the actor just made his White Lotus debut in the October 30 Season 2 premiere. Freeform is bringing another popular series to an end, but this one is getting a final season.

The cabler on Monday picked up Motherland: Fort Salem Season 3, but with the caveat that it would be the final season of the witchy military drama.

“We’re excited to bring Motherland: Fort Salem back for a third season,” Freeform president Tara Duncan said.

“I am grateful to Eliot and the entire Motherland team. They have created a truly immersive mythology that has resonated with fans since day one, and I know this last chapter will continue to deliver.”

News of the end date announcement comes less than a week after the cancellation of Everything's Gonna Be Okay, which got the boot after two seasons.

The Bold Type wrapped earlier this year with a pre-planned final season.

For starters, the Disney-owned cabler has renewed the freshman comedy “Everything’s Gonna Be Okay” as well as the freshman drama “Motherland: Fort Salem.”

“Everything’s Gonna Be Okay” is created, executive produced and stars Josh Thomas. It follows Nicholas (Thomas), a neurotic twenty-something-year-old who is forced to raise his two teenage half-sisters, one of whom is on the autism spectrum, after the untimely death of their father.

The series also stars Kayla Cromer, Adam Faison and Maeve Press. It is produced and distributed internationally by Avalon. Thomas, Stephanie Swedlove and Kevin Whyte serve as executive producers, with David Martin, Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner executive producing for Avalon. Additionally, “Please Like Me” collaborator Thomas Ward reunites with Thomas as co-executive producer.

Freeform has plotted out its original programming plans for the next 12 months with second-season renewals for Everything’s Gonna Be Okay and Motherland: Fort Salem and the move of grown-ish, Good Trouble and Cruel Summer to next year.

The news, released ahead next week’s Disney Advertising Sales Virtual Roadshow presentation, comes as the network looks to get out in front of the Covid-19 production shutdown, which impacted a number of its originals, including the three series pushed to next year. In a video message to fans (watch it below the story), Good Trouble stars Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez explain how production on Season 3 of The Fosters spinoff was suspended over the pandemic and it won’t be ready for a summer 2020 launch as originally planned.

The central conceit of Freeform’s “Motherland: Fort Salem” is that it exists in an alternate version of the United States where witches and magic both exist, but according to series creator Eliot Laurence, you’ll never hear the word “magic” on the show.

“I wanted to have this be fantasy through a science fictional lens,” Laurence said at the Television Critics Association press tour on Friday. “So I wanted all the magic to be based in kind of real stuff.”

The show is set in an alternate, present-day America where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the burgeoning U.S. government to fight for their country in a specialized branch of the military. It centers on three young women from basic training in combat magic into terrifying and thrilling early deployment.

Freeform has dropped the trailer for its upcoming “Motherland: Fort Salem” trailer, and it features an army of witches that you won’t want to mess with.

The network also set the show’s premiere date for March 18 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt.

The drama series was created by “Claws” writer Eliot Lawrence, and is executive produced by “Succession” trio Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick.

The 10-episode, one-hour drama is produced by Freeform Studios, Gary Sanchez Productions and McKay’s Hyperobject Industries. Laurence, Ferrell, McKay, Messick, Maria Maggenti and Steven Adelson all executive produce the series. The pilot was directed by Steven A. Adelson.

Freeform's new supernatural series gets some stylized propaganda posters featuring its leads to show off some world-building

Freeform’s Motherland: Fort Salem has released propaganda-style posters from the upcoming speculative fiction series, which premieres in Spring of 2020. Set in an alternate reality where the witches of Salem made a deal to defend what would become the United States, the first season of the supernatural series follows three young women from basic training in combat magic into their early deployment.

The posters feature some of the witch characters from the series, including Raelle (played by Taylor Hickson), Tally (played by Jessica Sutton), and Abigail (played by Ashley Nicole Williams). The first poster shows Anacostia (played by Demetria McKinney). And the last poster is General Sarah Alder played by Lyne Renee.

The speculative fiction drama is set in an alternate reality where witches act as the U.S. defense force.

We're already all in for Freeform's Motherland: Fort Salem, a TV show set in an alternate world in which witches have been fighting for the United States for 300 years. The network has just ordered the speculative fiction show to series.

The first (and hopefully not only) season of Motherland: Fort Salem will be 10 episodes, with Eliot Laurence (Claws) acting as creator and showrunner. In this world, witches ended their notorious persecution by striking a deal with the U.S. government: if the persecutions stop, witches will serve as a U.S. military force. Here's hoping the show deals with that particular theme critically. The series will be executive produced by Laurence, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, and Adam McKay.

Chicago – The creative impetus behind Cinemax shows “Banshee” & “Strike Back,” which just saw their first and second seasons released on Blu-ray, respectively, is clear — dirtier, nastier, more violent versions of shows you already know and love. “Banshee” has echoes of “Sons of Anarchy” in its power struggle in a small town saga while “Strike Back” is not unlike “The Unit” or “24” with no restrictions on violence on nudity. “Banshee” is the superior show by some margin but fans of both programs will be happy with their home releases.

Being original programs of a network owned by the current kings of TV on Blu-ray (HBO owns Cinemax) means that the season sets for these two shows are both excellently designed, filled with special features and including gorgeous transfers. In this interview, Stapleton discusses Scott “growing up” in the new season. When we first met Scott, he slept with just about any woman he met – including one who later tried to blow him up. Then in season 2, things changed when Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) went off the rails. Scott became the voice of reason. He also found a Ptsd soul mate in Rebecca (Lyne Renee).
