Gale Anne Hurd, CEO of Valhalla Motion Pictures, is looking to develop The Nameless, a spec script from writer Chris Billett.
Anne Hurd, Arsenal fun, said about the spec for her first move since the success of AMC’s zombie series The Walking Dead (2010):
I love that it’s character driven. That is very important to me. And secondly, I’m attracted to material about ordinary people who are facing extraordinary circumstances who find the strength within them to fight against impossible odds.”
The Nameless, defined as a modern day Western, is set in a high-threat environment operated by the U.S. Marshal’s Federal Witness Protection Program (Witsec), arranging new identities for approved applicants. After the area’s location has been compromised, more idealistic marshal confronted with town’s inhabitants against assassin squad determined to execute the government’s key witness to the crime in the approaching trial.

Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures has picked up Chris Bullett's spec script "The Nameless" says Heat Vision.
The story is set in a top-secret facility operated by the U.S. Marshal's Federal Witness Protection Program housing witnesses awaiting new identities.
When the area's location is compromised, an idealistic marshal and the town's inhabitants take a stand against a team of assassins determined to execute the key witness in an upcoming trial. The tone is described as a "modern-day Western" in the action-thriller mold.
Valhalla will develop and produce the feature and will likely seek independent financing.

While she’s been spending a lot of time wrangling zombies (and occasionally saving wayward journalists from tumbles into deadly quarry pits) for The Walking Dead, Gale Anne Hurd and her Valhalla Motion Pictures company are still looking for film projects to work on, scooping up Chris Bullett’s spec script The Nameless to develop. The story is set in a hush-hush facility run by the Us Marshal’s Federal Witness Protection Program, where those testifying in dangerous cases can wait safely to get new identities. At least, they think they’re safe… But when the secret location leaks out, a team of assassins hunting the key witness in a trial heads out to kill the man, and it’s up to a headstrong marshal and the town’s locals to stop them.“I love that it’s character driven,” Hurd tells the Heat Vision blog. “That is very important to me.

Prolific producer Gale Anne Hurd ( The Terminator , The Incredible Hulk ) is looking to develop a spec script from writer Chris Billett, says The Hollywood Reporter . The storyline, described as a modern day Western, is said to involve a secret Witness Protection Program facility that comes under attack by assassins and which must be defended by the citizens of the local town. The aim for the project is, at the moment, to go after independent funding through Hurd's Valhalla Pictures, though the producer doesn't entirely rule out studio involvement. Billett is responsible for the screenplays to the indie films Unrest , Callous and, most recently, Isolation . He is also, per his official site, developing a crime drama for television.

Stephen T. Kay ( Boogeyman ) began production a year ago on Isolation , written by Chris Billett. A trailer has hit the web; it's effective and well worth a look, however, it gives away too much. Eva Amurri ( Californication ) and David Harbour ( Revolutionary Road ) star; the former plays a medical student who awakens in a hospital isolation room having been exposed to an unknown disease, desperately ill and with no recollection of how she got there. No word yet on distribution, but stay tuned.

Hospitals, man. Who doesn't hate them? They're like a beacon of misery always reminding you that sooner or later you're going to end up in one for one reason or another. As the new thriller Isolation is going to try and prove -- they can also be very scary!
Variety reports that Matty Beckerman's finance and production shingle Natural Selection has set helmer Stephen T. Kay ("The Shield," "Friday Night Lights") to direct horror film Isolation.

Are you ready for a new spin on the "zombie" genre? After 28 Days Later everyone has tried, most have failed, but can the director of "The Shield" and Boogeyman find a way to make it work? I'd bet against him after seeing Boogeyman but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (this once). 28Dla supporter and talent agent Sandra L. Rostirolla drops me a line on "Callous," an independent from director Joey Lanai. Premiering at the Riverside Rilm Festival, in California, the film tells the tale of a Native American dealing with family abuse this Friday April 24. Also, highlighting the musical score of another supporter to 28Dla Kurt Oldman the films musical soundtrack is rich in acoustical guitars and haunting instrumentals. Some of Oldman's work along with additional information on "Callous," can be found at the films website past the break.
A synopsis for "Callous," from the Riverside Film Festival...
Callous is an unpredictable and violent ride on the shoulders of Garrett Blackfoot. This once-abused fragile boy is now a single father haunted by the demons of his childhood. In denial of his Native American lineage, he is brought face to face with the reality that there is a spiritual plane and the...

Unrest, directed by Jason Todd Ipson and released as part of the After Dark Horrorfest, proceeds from a pairing of subgenre and location—a ghost story set in a hospital morgue—so appropriate to each other that it’s surprising they haven’t been combined more often before. In addition to plenty of opportunities for stark, spare atmosphere and nasty bits involving cadavers, the mix allows Ipson, who scripted with Chris Billett, to throw in occasional musings about the relationship between the dead and the living and how those who deal directly with the deceased—in this case, medical students—handle that interaction. The result is a thoughtful and spooky little movie that stands apart from the formulas that bind so many horror films in both the studio and independent fields.
