Damon Russell is an award-winning director and producer. Most recently, his short film CUL-DE-SAC, starring Phoebe Tonkin (THE ORIGINALS) and Shawn Christensen (BEFORE I DISAPPEAR) premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, later winning Damon the award for Outstanding Director at the NBCUniversal Short Film Festival.
Damon is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He began his career as a field producer and cameraman for the hit A&E series THE FIRST 48. His break as a feature director came in 2012 when Damon helmed the critically-acclaimed film SNOW ON THA BLUFF. Mixing both narrative and found-footage techniques, SNOW ON THA BLUFF premiered at the 2012 Slamdance Film Festival and was acquired by Netflix.
Soon after, Damon produced CURFEW, which won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short. He went onto produce BEFORE I DISAPPEAR, the adaptation of CURFEW, which won the 2014 Audience Award at SXSW and was acquired by IFC.
Damon was named one of The 25 New Faces of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine and is a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
He currently splits his time between Atlanta and Los Angeles.
