Biography

Jonathan Burton began his career as a young actor working in the Australian Film and Television industry. Major guest roles in some of Australia's most popular shows and feature film work lead to a love of visual storytelling and production.

Jonathan graduated from RMIT University, Melbourne in 2009 with an Advanced Diploma of Film majoring in cinematography, and Deakin University, Melbourne in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in digital media.

Jonathan currently works at Soundfirm Melbourne, Australia's leading end-to-end post production facility. As Digital Imaging Supervisor, Jonathan is in charge of the operation of Soundfirm's Picture Department, overseeing a variety of high end productions for both film and television.

Jonathan is also an award winning short-film director and writer. His 2012 film "Yes Mum" produced for the Transport Accident Commission of Victoria as a winner of the MAFMAD competition, was the most highly watched and successful MAFMAD film in the competition's 11 year history. Jonathan's other film work has screened at major film festivals around the world including the Melbourne International Film Festival, Galway Film Festival Ireland, Raindance Film Festival and the Sk.Kilda Film Festival among many others.

At a young age, Writer/Director Jonathan Burton already has a wealth of experience as a film practitioner. He took the position of second unit director on the recently released feature, Murder At Yellowstone City starring Gabriel Byrne, Tanaya Beatty, Aimee Garcia and Thomas Jane.

As a Director he was a Sydney Film Festival / Dendy Award Finalist, with his short film Into The Blackwater. His short film work has screened at many major film festivals including Galway Film Festival Ireland, Raindance Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival. Jonathan has over a decade of experience as a Colorist, Digital Imaging Supervisor and Editor at one of the worlds leading end to end post production facilities, Soundfirm.

Jonathan holds an Advanced Diploma of Screen Production majoring in Writing and Directing, as well as a Degree in Film and Digital Media also Majoring in Writing, Directing and Fine Art Photography.

In The Land Of The Mayfly will be Jonathan's first feature production as Writer/Director after penning the mature screenplay over an extended writing period in the inspirational landscapes of Iceland. Jonathan is based in Los Angeles California.
