Vasant is a Mumbai-based writer and director. He co-wrote season one of Netflix's first Indian original series, the smash hit crime-drama Sacred Games. Vasant started his career as an assistant to Deepa Mehta during the production of her Oscar-nominated feature film Water. His short films Shanu Taxi, Sukrit's Sundays, and Sebastian and Rose have travelled to over 20 international festivals, including the prestigious Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival, winning awards nationally and internationally. His feature script, Sebastian Wants to Remember, co-written with his producer Michael Henrichs, is the first Indian project to receive EU Media Development funding. Vasant is currently developing an India-set medical drama in collaboration with the creators of the popular British series Casualty, the longest-running primetime medical drama series in the world. He has also recently worked as a Consulting Producer on the flagship music-based drama series for Viacom18, Khalbali Records, where he worked closely with the creative team to streamline story development and oversaw the entire writing process. Most recently, Vasant worked as the head writer and co-director (alongside Shonali Bose) on Amazon Prime Video's upcoming drama series Ziddi Girls - a YA drama series set in the enthralling world of Delhi University.
