Angel Acevedo is an independent producer of films, tv, and digital series. His films have screened at over 60 festivals winning a variety of awards. Some of his credits include: We Need Girlfriends (2006), Odessa (2012), and The Eve (2015).
Angel attended Hofstra University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies and Production. He graduated with four short films under his belt, an award for Best Screenplay for his senior thesis, "Cheesecake," and an award for "Most Outstanding Film Department Senior." After college, he co-founded Ragtag Productions along with Brian Amyot, and Steven Tsapelas. With Ragtag, Angel produced numerous award-winning films and web series including Without a Clue (2005), We Need Girlfriends (2006), and My Future Girlfriend (2010).
"We Need Girlfriends" became an internet success garnering a major following on MySpace and YouTube. Ultimately, the show was optioned by Sony TV Studios with Darren Star (Sex and the City (1998)) executive producing. CBS purchased the rights to make a pilot in the fall of 2007.
As development continued on the tv pilot of "We Need Girlfriends," Angel started independently producing for other filmmakers and creators in LA and NY. Some of these films include Girl Clown (2012), Trapped Girl (2014), and Yikes (2015) which screened last year in the Short Film Corner at Cannes. In 2015, his first produced feature film, The Eve (2015), was released on streaming VOD.
Angel lives in Los Angeles actively developing and producing indie projects.
