António Barreira is a Portuguese screenwriter born in 1974, and a graduate in Law. In 2002, he won a contest for new talents in screenwriting and contributed by writing for several telenovelas. In 2007, he launched as the main screenwriter and with his second solo telenovela, "Meu Amor" ("My Love"), won an International Emmy for Best Telenovela in 2010. António's following telenovela, "Remédio Santo", was also nominated for an International Emmy for Best Telenovela in 2012, being the first Portuguese screenwriter to win an International Emmy Award and the only Portuguese author with two nominations. As the main author, he has written nine telenovelas, having been nominated and receiving several awards in Portugal. António is also the screenwriter of two telefilms, adapted a Spanish series to Portuguese TV and has written several lyrics for musical themes. As well as being the co-author of "Dei-te Quase Tudo", the most-watched Portuguese telenovela up to date. Additionally, he is the first Portuguese screenwriter whose content was sold to Latin America. His telenovela "Meu Amor" ("My Love") was adapted by Televisa and broadcasted in Mexico, USA and throughout Latin America, under the title "Diseñando Tu Amor", leading audience.
