Tuesday marked the start of Prince Harry’s High Court trial, and Prince William is scheduled to make a significant appearance in London at the same time. In addition to commemorating his 20 years as the homeless charity’s patron, the Prince of Wales will visit Centrepoint’s Ealing branch to reaffirm his commitment to ending teenage homelessness.
The Ealing facility offers a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation and houses 17 youths between the ages of 16 and 25. Access to education, employment opportunities, and counseling are all part of its support system, which aids inhabitants in becoming self-sufficient. Prince William will interact with people, hear about their stories, and take part in sports like table football and boxing when he is there.
This visit highlights the synergy between Centrepoint and Prince William’s Homewards project. Centrepoint serves as a key advisor to The Royal Foundation, contributing insights for the design and ongoing development of the homelessness initiative.

Why Did Prince William Skip Jimmy Carter’s Funeral?
Seeing how Prince William wants to be known now as an international statesmen, one would think that he would have attended Jimmy Carter’s funeral, and especially knowing that all five living presidents would be there.
But instead, Buckingham Palace sent former prime minister Gordon Brown and Prince Edward in his place. And of course, a lot of people can’t help but wonder: what gives?
Needless to say, the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter.
Some even commented with, “Just to be clear, Americans would not have preferred William to be there. I don’t know a...

Prince Harry has given his first interview since his privacy lawsuit win against a major U.K. tabloid, speaking at length about the ongoing legal battle and why the late Queen Elizabeth II is “very much up there saying, ‘See this through to the end.'”
In ITV’s deep-dive documentary Tabloids on Trial, which aired in the U.K. on Thursday night, the Duke of Sussex was among myriad names, including Hugh Grant, former England soccer star Paul Gascoigne and ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who opened up about their fight for justice in the extensive phone-hacking scandal and subsequent legal battles.
The prince alleges that he was targeted by journalists and private investigators working for Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers (Ngn) titles The Sun and the now-defunct News of the World, which closed in 2011. Grant was also among those involved in the Ngn lawsuits (the Briton settled the...

It’s been three short days since UK prime minister Rishi Sunak announced the country would be going to the polls on July 4th for a general election, and J.K. Rowling has made her presence felt on social media, slamming the opposition leader for his treatment of a gender-critical politician in his own party.
Rosie Duffield, the Labour politician for Kent in south-eastern England, was reportedly not invited to the election campaign launch event, although it took place in that region. Duffield took to X (formerly Twitter) to say:
“Well, day one has gone well then..! Strong women can’t be broken that easily, lads. And I have an army of them behind me, in front of me, beside me and holding me up.”
And Duffield found an ally in Rowling, who shares Duffield’s belief that women’s rights are being compromised by trans-supporting language, with the Harry Potter...

Princess Diana may have been gone since 1997, but her legacy lives on through her children’s works, and a charity started in her honor.
The Diana Award is an award given to “Young people who work to improve the lives of others” and is sponsored by the Diana Award Organization.
The charity, started by former Prime Minister James Gordon Brown in 1999, is dear to Prince Willam and Prince Harry.
This year’s ceremony is unique because it honors the charity’s 25th anniversary, prompting both princes to attend.
The Mirror reports that it has been years since Willam and Harry were seen together in public. Not since September 2022 have William and his wife, Kate Middleton, been publicly seen with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Now would be a great time for Princes William and Harry to unite and honor their mother.

Over 100 leading figures, led by members of The Elders and the Future of Life Institute, have issued an open letter calling on world leaders to take a bold new approach to address ‘catastrophic’ risks to humanity.
The letter states that ‘long-view leadership’ is needed to tackle the ongoing impact and escalating risks of the climate and nature crisis, pandemics, nuclear weapons, and ungoverned AI. It also illustrates that millions of lives and livelihoods are already impacted by these threats and world leaders’ inaction and failure to cooperate will drive humanity toward ‘greater catastrophe’.
The Elders, including Mary Robinson, Ban Ki-moon, Graça Machel, Juan Manuel Santos, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, together with the president of the Future of Life Institute, Max Tegmark, have been joined by former leaders (including Gordon Brown), Nobel Laureates, scientific experts, youth activists, business leaders (including Richard Branson), philanthropists and influential figures from across public life (including Annie Lennox...

Tony Blair's tenure as Prime Minister was far more controversial than depicted in The Crown, as he faced public backlash and accusations of war crimes after the Iraq War. Blair's resignation in 2007 was primarily due to the negative public opinion surrounding his involvement in the Iraq War, as well as controversy surrounding a deal with Gordon Brown. Since leaving office, Blair's career has been a mixed bag, with unsuccessful attempts to improve relations in the Middle East and prevent Brexit, as well as founding a non-profit to promote moderate politics. His reputation has suffered further with the release of the damning Chilcot Report in 2016.
Season 6 of The Crown introduces former Prime Minister Tony Blair, but there was quite a bit of history made by Blair after the events depicted in The Crown. The Crown season 6 ends with the events of 2005, years before some of the former Pm's more controversial actions came to light.

The decision to end The Crown after Season 6 is a smart move, as recent seasons have not been received as well critically as the earlier ones. Season 7 could have explored captivating television material such as the drama of the royal family in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The potential storylines for Season 7 include the 60th anniversary of Elizabeth and Philip, the visit of Barack Obama to Buckingham Palace, the reigns of Prime Ministers Gordon Brown and David Cameron, and the scandal involving Sarah Ferguson.
With The Crown season 6, part 2 covering the events of the late 1990s and early 2000s, there's plenty of royal family material that could make up a season 7. The plan was originally to run the series for six seasons, and creator Peter Morgan has confirmed season 6 to be the last. Speaking to Variety, he explained, "I think by stopping almost 20 years before the present day, it's dignified,...

Persephonica has announced that Political Currency with former Chancellor George Osborne and former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls will be launching on Thursday 14th September. The podcast will take listeners behind the scenes of the biggest political and economic decisions that really affect the nation’s pockets.
George and Ed are two of the UK’s most senior and well-known former politicians. The pair were once fierce adversaries across the despatch box, with things getting heated and personal in the House of Commons and in TV studios. In recent years they have gained a new-found respect for each other’s astute political analysis, appearing as a duo - known as ‘OsBalls’ - on ITV’s election night coverage and Channel 4’s The Andrew Neil Show. However, this won’t just be friendly political chitchat; they’re not afraid to hold each other, and the country’s leaders, to account on the issues that really matter.

For a second, it’s like 2005 has barged into the pub demanding respect. Richard Archer, singer with Staines’ indie rock massive Hard-Fi, arrives at a Thames-side Richmond boozer with his bright blue eyes flashing and the jaw-length hair he sported pre-pandemic shorn back to his classic indie bovver-boy cut. He’s as energised as he ever was when leading some of the most raucous gig scenes this writer saw that entire disrespected decade, when entire Academies would be bouncing right back to the (drunk dry) bar to clock-off clubland punk anthems “Hard To Beat” and “Living For The Weekend”. He was champion of the skint but shot-crazed, a roaring mouthpiece for the left-behind street stars of surveillance culture Britain.
The haircut is appropriate: it’s now 17 years since the band’s debut album Stars of CCTV ram-raided the UK charts, but Hard-Fi are undergoing a Semtex blast of popularity.

Thousands gathered in the streets of London to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II at her funeral on Sept. 19. Charles III has officially been proclaimed the King of the United Kingdom and fourteen Commonwealth realms during a meeting of the Accession Council in London on Saturday morning. It is the first time in history the ceremony has ever been televised.
U.K. networks including BBC, ITV and Sky broadcast the ceremony live at 10Am local time as did U.S. networks including NBC, where Savannah Guthrie was anchoring for an early morning special of the “Today Show.”
Broadcasting the Accession Council ceremony is significant and, according to historian Vernon Bogdnaor “a sign of the times that the monarchy has to adapt to a more open and less deferential society,” as he told BBC News.
When Queen Elizabeth acceded to the throne in 1952 there was not even a discussion that the ceremony should be televised while a debate then ensued over broadcasting her coronation the following year. In the event,...

Shetland’s Series 7 return is a bittersweet one for fans of the Scottish BBC crime drama. The six-episode run will be actor Douglas Henshall’s last in the lead role of Di Jimmy Perez. Henshall’s departure though, doesn’t mean the end for Shetland, which has been renewed for an eighth series due to arrive in 2023. A new, as-yet-unannounced, lead actor will be joining the returning cast for that run.
Series 7, which starts on BBC One on Wednesday the 10th of August at 9pm, promises to tie up Perez’s loose ends and follow up on last series’ will-they-won’t-they frisson with Irish carer Meg. Boris Johnson has confirmed he is leaving No.10 today.
The under-fire Pm has finally agreed to end his Premiership after days of facing mass cabinet resignations.
Speaking on the steps of Downing Street, he thanked the British people for their support and said he will continue with the job until the autumn while a leadership contest takes place in the coming months.
But it’s worth noting that the last leadership contest took two months, and Johnson will visit the Queen at the end of the process to tell her he is standing down.

Plans for a new national centre for film and television on London’s South Bank are back on after a mystery investor offered £87m of the £130m project cost.
The British Film Institute (BFI) proposal had been backed personally by Gordon Brown and the last Labour government, which promised £45m of public money. But the financial crisis and change of government led to the commitment being withdrawn.

Can you believe it's been seven years since Colin Morgan's boy wizard first strode onto our screens?
The series premiere of Merlin on September 20, 2008 set us off on a magical five-year journey - one with mythical monsters, wicked warlocks and excessive amounts of bromantic banter.
Millions tuned in each Saturday night for the show's blend of fun, fantasy and friendship - because Merlin and Arthur (Bradley James) were definitely just friends, Ok? - but what's happened to Camelot's finest since that epic final episode?
Colin Morgan
The aged Emrys might still be waiting for King Arthur to revive, but Merlin lead Colin Morgan hasn't lain dormant these past few years. He appeared opposite fellow Irish legend Gabriel Byrne in BBC One's moody detective drama Quirke in 2014, was seduced by Gillian Anderson as mercurial copper Tom Anderson in The Fall and played cyborg Leo in Channel 4's smash hit Humans.

Piers Morgan has grilled everyone from Gordon Brown to... Tony Blackburn on Life Stories, but he'd never let anyone interview him in the same manner.
The controversial broadcaster told BT TV that he would make himself look like a fool if he ever got the chance to interview himself in some futuristic nightmare.
"The only person I would trust is myself," said Morgan. "And even then, I don't think I'd trust myself. I'd get carried away interviewing myself and make myself look like an idiot. I'd never put myself through what I put other people through!"
He continued: "I just don't really like emoting in public. It's just not my thing. I'm not alone – some people just don't like doing it.
"A lot of famous people do quite like emoting, or are prepared to take the risk. I just wouldn't want to do that and put myself in that position...

Director: Gil Kenan; Screenwriter: David Lindsay-Abaire; Starring: Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kennedi Clements, Jared Harris; Running time: 93 mins; Certificate: 15
If familiarity breeds contempt then overfamiliarity brings boredom. This lazy, unimaginative remake of horror classic Poltergeist supplies snores instead of shudders and inertia instead of intrigue, failing to muster any significant fresh ideas or sustain any tension.
Moving into a property built on an ancient burial ground is a marginally more doomed accommodation arrangement than a flatshare with Katie Hopkins and Perez Hilton. As per its predecessor's plot, the 2015 version positions a wholesome American family in this precarious scenario and unleashes a procession of progressively supernatural proceedings on them.
Whereas Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper's original transfixed viewers with its imaginative sense of dread and foreboding atmosphere, Gil Kenan's remake spectacularly fails to instill a sense of jeopardy despite some smart camerawork and solid performances from all the leads,...

Parliament has been dissolved, there are no longer technically any MPs and the six-week General Election campaigns have started – all in anticipation of the British public going to the ballot box on May 7 to vote for who they wish to be the leader of the next government.
The current incumbent at Number 10, Downing Street, is Conservative leader David Cameron – who has been Prime Minister since May 2010. Having formed a Coalition Government – the first peacetime UK coalition since the 1930s – between his own Tory Party and Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats in May 2010, Cameron has proved all his critics wrong by leading the administration through a full five-year term.
Cameron’s first term as Prime Minister will always be remembered for the severe austerity measures that were introduced in order to deal with Britain’s ever-increasing national debt, but the Coalition also implemented large-scale legislative changes in welfare, immigration, education and healthcare.

“What ifs” are prevalent in all walks of life. Football fans may ask: “What if Frank Lampard’s ‘goal’ against Germany in the last 16 of the 2010 World Cup had been given?” Music fans may enquire: “What if Jimi Hendrix had lived for longer, would he have produced even more phenomenal records?” While Labour Party members may query: “What if Gordon Brown had stepped down before the 2010 General Election, could we have retained power?”
There will never be a definitive answer to any of these questions – but that is the beauty of “what ifs”, they can be applied to just about every single scenario, and most particularly with key historical events.
It does not take a genius to workout that it the odd decision had been made differently here or there, or if certain people have not been elevated to positions of power then history could have taken a very different course.

Channel 4 has moved Coalition back in its schedules - making way for the real-life leaders' pre-election interviews with Jeremy Paxman.
The drama about the formation of the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government in 2010 will now air on Saturday, March 28 at 9pm.
Channel 4 schedules for March 26 now show The Leaders' Interviews airing between 9pm and 10.35pm, with further details to follow.
Both prime minister David Cameron (Conservatives) and leader of the opposition Ed Miliband (Labour) are believed to have agreed to one-on-one interviews with Paxman, which will be broadcast simultaneously on Sky.
The broadcasters' revised plans were first reported earlier this week, following months of wrangling between the political parties over format and timing.

“Nothing without joy, everything to excess.” For the 10 members of the all-male cloak and dagger society called The Riot Club, that is a motto to live by. All of them are among the hardest-working students at Oxford University and demand they play just as relentlessly as they work. Several of them are descendants of nobility or the UK’s most powerful political leaders. Fraternizing with any person beneath an upper-class status would be out of the question for several of them. As for ordinary men and women who disagree with their archaic, conservative values: watch out.
If spending time with the most elite of English swills sounds like a fun time at the movies, then The Riot Club should be a must-see. Anyone looking to mock the spoiled rotten virtues of the upper percentile of the 1%, though, will not find too much to heckle here. The film cannot boast the...

Sherlock co-creator and actor Mark Gatiss has revealed that his version of Mycroft is inspired by Labour politician Peter Mandelson.
Incidentally, the 48-year-old is now about to play Mandelson himself in Channel 4's new drama Coalition.
"I based Mycroft on Peter Mandelson," he told Radio Times. "It was explicit even before I was going to play him.
"Steven Moffat and I talked about how Mandelsonian Mycroft was... Conan Doyle says Mycroft is the British government. He's the power behind the throne.
"Both Mandelson and Mycroft are the sort of people who, I think, would sit out a world war. There's a longer game to be played."

Playing Nick Clegg in Channel 4's Coalition was "daunting", actor Bertie Carvel has admitted.
The 90-minute drama, written by James Graham, charts Clegg's rise in popularity ahead of the 2010 general election and the subsequent forming of a coalition government by the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats.
"It's daunting - because we're playing people who are so high-profile," Carvel told members of the press.
"One could feel as though you could only fail - because they're so present for our audience - but the minute you divest yourself of that daunting responsibility and just try to serve the play that James has written... we just made it our own."
Carvel called the drama "meticulously researched", with writer Graham insisting that all of the events seen in Coalition are based on fact.
"It's a drama, so the dialogue is imagined by me - what those scenes behind closed doors would be like,...

Prime Minister David Cameron will be joined by Labour's Ed Miliband, Liberal Democrats' Nick Clegg, Ukip's Nigel Farage, Snp's Nicola Sturgeon, Plaid Cymru's Leanne Wood and Green Party leader Natalie Bennett for the televised debate on Thursday, April 2.
The BBC will broadcast the next debate on Thursday, April 16, with the same leaders expected to take part.
A third and final debate - which will be a head-to-head discussion between Conservative and Labour - will air on Channel 4 and Sky on Thursday, April 30.
The British public will then go to the polls a week later on May 7.
Following the inaugural debates in 2010 featuring Gordon Brown, Cameron and Clegg, the planning of the 2015 debates has proved controversial.

The first look picture of Nick Clegg, David Cameron and Gordon Brown in new Channel 4 political drama Coalition has been revealed.
Bertie Carvel plays Clegg, Mark Dexter is Cameron and Ian Grieve stars as Brown in the 90-minute one-off.
Mark Gatiss also recently signed up to play Labour politician Peter Mandelson.
Coalition follows the moments which led to Clegg rising from outsider in the 2010 general election to the man who would decide the political fate of the country.
As a politician who was living in the shadow of Cameron and Brown, Clegg found himself in the powerful position of having to choose whether to ally his party with Labour or the Conservatives following the public's election votes.
Coalition is written by James Graham and directed by the BAFTA-winning Alex Holmes.
An air date is yet to be set by Channel 4.

The BBC and ITV have both replied to the Democratic Unionist Party's (Dup) request to be included in the leaders' election debates.
Following the inaugural debates in 2010 featuring the Liberal Democrats' Nick Clegg, Conservative David Cameron and then-Labour leader Gordon Brown, the planning of the 2015 debates have proved controversial.
Ukip, the Green Party, Respect and various regional parties have argued for inclusion in the debates, with Cameron saying he will decline to appear if Ukip are included and the Greens excluded.
Current proposals do include the participation of the Green Party, Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru.

When asked directly if he would not enter the debates in their current format unless "at least" the Green Party were present, the prime minister responded: "Correct."
Cameron continued: "I think if we're going to have other parties into these television debates, then I think you've got to have the parties that are represented in the House of Commons. That is my strong view.
"I don't think the current proposals work. You can't have one...

The origins of "The Imitation Game" date back to 2009 when producers Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky first became aware of Alan Turing’s story when Prime Minister Gordon Brown apologized on behalf of the government for its treatment of the codebreaker after World War II. "Our first reaction was surprise because we had never heard of Alan Turing before," reveals Ostrowsky during a webcam chat with Gold Derby (watch below). "We immediately started researching his story and found it incredibly compelling." -Break- Ostrowsky and Grossman then convinced Turing biographer Andrew Hodges that they were the perfect duo to bring his book to the screen, despite having no produced film credits. "We optioned the book, came back to the States and tried to set it up, but didn't really know what that entailed," says Grossman. She eventually met scripter Graham Moore at a party, and was impressed with his enthusiasm for Turing's stor.

The fall fest audience-award-winner, rather remarkably, weaves the true character behind a history we think we know but we don’t know. It believably sets up the huge stakes and emotions of the desperate need to save lives by beating back the Nazis and ending World War II. Its smartest-man-in-the-room hero, played by Cumberbatch, is often unlikable, yet credibly sympathetic. That's partly because he's seems to have Asberger's tendencies and is persecuted for being gay. The other tragedy of this movie is the degree to which Turing didn’t receive recognition, partly because he was involved in top secret activity, but also that he was a homosexual at a time when sex between men was illegal. The entire concoction unwinds beautifully, but you don’t get there overnight. Ostrowsky and Grossman first read a newspaper apology written by then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown on behalf of the government for the treatment...
