John W. Ryan was a Security Agent, Bodyguard & Martial Arts Teacher from Brisbane, who arrived in Melbourne in late 1968 to offer his Services to People in the Pop Industry who knew of him from his Martial Arts prowess & Protection Work in Brisbane,Toowoomba & Gold Coast looking after various Artists .
John also approached Crawfords if they ever needed Fight scene staging & fortunately for him George 'Noddy' Miller was walking past as he was talking to Henry Crawford & wanted him on location the next week for a scene in an episode of Homicide.
In fact John not only Choreographed (Blocked) the fight scene he played the part of the Thug & did the Minor Car Stunt Driving.
His Training in Protection & Evasive Driving was used.
The scene was Partly Censored throughout Australia after the original showing on Victorian TV due to some Violence portrayed in it , a first for Australian TV.
John became the first Australian Resident Stuntman & appeared in some Acting roles as well in 'Homicide' , 'Division 4' , 'Bellbird' as well as TV appearance on IMT etc. He also performed live Stunt Shows with Cars, Motorcycles & Explosives.
In one episode of 'Homicide' he performed the Australian TV first Actual Car Crash during a Car chase.
He worked for AMBO agency also & looked after different personalities over the last 5 Decades. Such as Normie Rowe, The Groove, John Farnham, The Zoot, Abigail, Rose Hancock / Porteous, Dennis Lillee, Jimmy Barnes, Napolean Perdis, etc.
He has worked as Armourer, Actor, Stuntman on projects such as, 'Justice' with Marcus Graham, 'Elvis Killed my Brother' with Peter Hardy, ' 3 Acts of Murder', 'Cats Eyes' TV Series, 'Let's Get Skase', various commercials, & the Stage Play , 'Forever Elvis'. He is also an Armourer for 'Knuckle ' a 2016 Feature Film production being shot in Western Australia.
John is known Internationally as a Police / Security Trainer & in fact has been Commissioned many times in the USA as a Detective particularly in Ohio at the Ashtabula County Sheriffs Office. He was also a Special Agent in a County Gang Task Force & SWAT Team.
His work in Anti Corruption & Interrogation saw him Initiate the Development with contracted Academics of the FVSA a Forensic Software being used successfully by several different Govt. Agencies for Truth Verification in Crime, Corruption & Counter Terrorism tasking.
