‘The Traitors’ host wears a similar outfit to Swift’s VMAs look next season
At the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sept. 15, 2024, Cumming revealed Swift’s choice of attire for the VMAs, which took place on Sept. 11, 2024, provided something of a sneak peek at what’s to come for his wardrobe on The Traitors.
“In the next season [of The Traitors] there’s a look I have that’s obviously very similar,” he told People. “But I think it’s hilarious that so many people sort of said Taylor Swift looks like Alan Cumming,...

Although Alan Cumming couldn’t be at this weekend’s 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, he wasn’t about to sleep on the celebration.
The Traitors host reacted to winning Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program, sharing an acceptance speech along with some late night shirtless selfies of his “Emmy winning look” in bed, where he was first alerted to his big win.
“A series of selfies taken at 3.38am just after waking up to find I had won an Emmy!” Cumming captioned the post. “In my dream I was thinking I had set my alarm too early and I should really wake up and change it to an hour later, and of course the reason I was dreaming this is that my phone had been buzzing constantly for about twenty minutes with people trying to tell me I had won the Emmy for hosting The Traitors!

Toni Ireland doesn’t mince words when it comes to describing how she feels about Alan Cumming and his abilities as host of “The Traitors” on Peacock. “I mean, how perfect is he? He’s just the dream person to work with.” The show’s executive producer reveals that Cumming immediately understood what they were going for with the program. “He understood the kind of character that we wanted him to play. He was completely up for it. Obviously he’s Scottish, which is fantastic. He’s an actor, which leans into this incredible role and the scripts are purposefully sort of Shakespearean in quality and he delivers it so brilliantly,” she tells Gold Derby during our recent Meet the Experts: Reality & Nonfiction TV panel (watch the exclusive video interview here).

Alan Cumming isn’t much of a reality TV fan — so as host of Peacock’s “The Traitors,” he enjoys being a bit blind to the baggage that many of the contestants carry to the Scottish Highlands.
“When I go to do ‘The Traitors, I have a crash course in reality TV stars, and random people,” he tells Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast. “I don’t know who many of the people are. Because I just don’t watch those shows. And actually I quite like it, just to meet the people on those their own terms — rather than that with all the history they bring.”
Cumming much prefers watching them plot and scheme inside the game of “The Traitors,” vs whatever it is they do on the “Real Housewives” and its ilk. “I think that the culture of these shows is very much about creating drama,” he says. “The structures are the same,...

The Traitors host Alan Cumming was known for his colorful and stylish wardrobe, and he revealed which outfits were his favorites, and which items he kept. As a Scottish actor of both stage and screen, Alan was the perfect choice to host the murder mystery competition. He was masterful at announcing the murders and overseeing the roundtable discussions before the banishments. In every episode, he wore clothes that captured the intriguing essence of The Traitors.
In an interview with People, The Traitors' Alan Cumming revealed that he kept some of his memorable wardrobe from the series. His favorite item of clothing was a black coat, which he described as a "French policeman's cape" that he wore in the dark. It was used to cover his outfits in scenes that were shot out of order, and it became his "favorite look." He said, "It just got a little collar coming up and.

Former “Orange Is the New Black” star Samira Wiley wasn’t initially sold on playing Moira in
“The Handmaid’s Tale.” “I had just come off playing another lesbian character for the past four years, so I didn’t want to get pigeon-holed,” says Wiley. Her wife — a Margaret Atwood fan — urged her to take the role, which would land her an Emmy nom. Clothes are crucial to the show — “These colors are talking without even having a script!” she notes — and she’s exploring their significance in her own life. “I’m learning that it’s Ok if people can’t figure out which box I fit into,” says Wiley, who can feel fully herself on a red carpet or at home in sweatpants. “I’m learning to embrace every single part of me.”

Avoiding wardrobe malfunctions and slip-and-fall mishaps are not the only concerns celebrities have on the red carpet.
While the Golden Globes are one of the biggest nights of the year for the entertainment industry, it’s also one the biggest night for fashion houses hoping to land their designs on the Best Dressed lists. But for some designers, their foreign or unconventional names don’t always roll off the tongues of the famous faces donning their apparel. And the difference between making a fashion statement and making the wrong statement affects both the reputation of the wearer and the recognition...
