His boss, Walter Nyland, sets the tone with a challenge for Owen to ‘go save the day,’ but things quickly spiral into high-stakes espionage.
This time, the trouble isn’t just overseas. The trailer hints at tension within the CIA itself, with Owen realizing the biggest threat might be coming from his own agency. Nathan Fillion’s CIA Director, Alton West, warns of catastrophic leaks, saying, ‘They are going to spill every secret we busted our nuts to keep secret.’ The team has only 48 hours to prevent disaster.

The Recruit ain’t a rookie no more.
In a real Happy New Year-move from Netflix, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, the streamer released the main trailer for Season 2 of “The Recruit.” Somehow, Noah Centineo’s CIA lawyer-turned actual CIA operative is even more in over his head this time.
The trailer appropriately appropriates Green Day’s “American Idiot” with more than a dose of Korean flair — that’s the setting for this season. Centineo’s Owen Hendricks is in the middle of a covert spy mission over there, “only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency,” per the logline. The second season features six one-hour episodes — and now Teo Yoo of “Past Lives.” The trailer features ones of those cool-ass back-to-back fighting scenes with the two defending a K-Pop club’s dance floor.

At long last, “The Recruit” is coming back. Season 2 of the action dramedy starring Noah Centineo will premiere on Netflix on Jan. 30, 2025.
The series follows Centineo as Owen Hendricks, a man who just started working for the CIA as a lawyer. Most of Season 1 involved him grappling with a dangerous Eastern European asset as he got sucked further into the world of international politics. This time around, Owen will be pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea — but the more he works the case, the more he realizes there may be a bigger threat inside the Agency itself.

When putting together the new Netflix series “The Recruit,” creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley said it was “important” for him to show a diverse cast as well as fill his writers room with talent from all backgrounds.
“If I don’t do that then that’s on me,” Hawley told TheWrap during a recent interview.
“The Recruit” marks Hawley’s Netflix debut, but he’s no stranger to television — the twin brother of “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley is also the creator and showrunner of the hit ABC series “The Rookie” and worked as a producer and writer on “Castle.”

The internet's love affair with Noah Centineo began somewhere between "The Fosters" and "To All The Boys I've Loved Before," both of which followed lovestruck teenage boys navigating classic high school drama. But ever since that Netflix trilogy came to a close, Centineo has been changing up his image to leave those schoolboy days behind. Shaving his head? Check. Co-starring in a superhero movie? Check. Taking the lead as a hero? Almost check. Bagging a crime thriller instead? That works! So I guess it's official — between his "Black Adam" stint as the young metahuman Atom Smasher and his upcoming role in Netflix's "The Recruit," Centineo has entered his action star era.
Inevitably, it's always hard to accept the next chapter of an actor's career, but that feels especially true for the performers whose signature role is a doe-eyed teenage boy. Personally, Centineo still falls in the same bucket as Tom Holland...

"Don't get cute. Do your business, and get out." Good luck, young one! Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a darkly comedic suspense series titled The Recruit, created by Alexi Hawley, of the "State of Affairs", "Castle", and "The Rookie" series previously. This one is about a young lawyer, not your typical CIA series, considering it's about someone trying to deal with the CIA's (internal) dirty laundry. A fledgling lawyer at the CIA, played by Noah Centineo (from To All the Boys I've Loved Before & Charlie's Angels), becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime. The series' cast also includes Laura Haddock, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Vondie Curtis Hall, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Kristian Bruun, Byron Mann, Angel Parker, & Kaylah Zander. Fresh off “Black Adam,” Noah Centineo is back on Netflix, albeit in very different form. The “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” stars in the first trailer for “The Recruit,” a spy series heading to the streamer next month.
The series was created by Alexi Hawley, best known as the creator of the ABC cop procedural “The Rookie” and its spinoff “The Rookie: Feds,” as well as his work as a writer for the crime procedural “Castle.” Like “The Rookie,” the similarly named “Recruit” focuses on a very new member in a prestigious organization: in this case, the CIA.
Centineo stars as Owen Hendricks, a young lawyer who lands a job at the agency and, after only two days on the job, gets paired to work with an asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock). Meladze, a former agent for the CIA with a checkered past, is threatening to expose the...
