Akiko Shima was still a teenager, she began her professional career as a radio personality in Tokyo Japan, when she was selected from a nation-wide search and, out of more than two-thousand applicants, as one of three " Punch Girls " ( the second generation) of a popular radio show, " The Punch, Punch, Punch " of Nippon Broadcasting System ( Nippon Hoso ).
