The celebrated Mexican pop group Rbd said they would have to put all projects “on hold,” including a possible continuation of their successful 2023 reunion tour, amid an ongoing financial dispute with their former manager.
On Wednesday, May 22, Rbd and their lawyers released a statement disputing recent claims by T6H Entertainment and its CEO, Guillermo Rosas, that there was no financial mismanagement related to last year’s “Soy Rebelde” tour. Rbd’s lawyers countered that a “forensic accounting investigation… revealed significant irregularities,” alleging that nearly $1 million remained unaccounted for.

After 15 long years, Rbd are officially back! The beloved Mexican pop group - which was born out of the 2005 telenovela "Rebelde" and includes Anahí, Christian Chávez, Dulce María, Maite Perroni, and Christopher von Uckermann - reunited earlier this year for one final tour, the Soy Rebelde Tour. On Sunday, they descended upon San Francisco's Chase Center, where they were met by thousands of fans dressed in miniskirts, white button-ups, red blazers, and knee-high boots.
Although it's been years since Rbd's last performance (and Alfonso Herrera is notably sitting out the tour), it was almost like no time had passed as the band transported the crowd back to Elite Way School with an emotional two-hour set of their greatest hits. "Thank you for not forgetting us. Thank you for making dreams come true tonight," Anahí passionately shouted to the audience in Spanish. "Thank you for keeping us in your hearts all these years,...

Christian Chavez is fully embracing his queer identity onstage — and using his platform to slam Texas’ anti-lgbtq laws. On Friday, during Mexican pop group Rbd’s reunion tour opener in El Paso, Texas, Chavez — who is openly gay and from the state — slammed Gov. Greg Abbott and the recent anti-lgbtq policies he has signed into law during an emotional segment of the show.

Christian Chávez has always been one of the most colorful members of Rbd. Throughout his original tenure in the Mexican pop group in the early 2000s, he sported practically all the colors of the rainbow in his hair, and he later came out as gay shortly before the group split in 2009. Now, Chávez is excited to be reuniting with his bandmates for an Rbd world tour, which kicks off in the US this summer.
"It's super special for me to have the opportunity to be with Rbd again with this freedom now," he tells Popsugar. "Now I have the opportunity to be myself. Now I have the opportunity to be on stage and I can be my queer self."

Tríada is a Mexican Netflix series created by Leticia López Margalli. It is directed by Leonardo D’Antoni and Alba Gil starring Maite Perroni, David Chocarro and Ana Layevska.
Triptych starts with a speech that is suspiciously similar to Inception and action with similarities to Nikita.
About the Series
Do you enjoy psychological thrillers with intricate plots? In Triptych you have a great opportunity to enjoy a story that twists and turns and its themes take us from one place to another, leading us by the nose and we are delighted to be fooled by it.
This is a series featuring Maite Perroni, who carries all the weight in this series about identities and DNA as well as mysteries that fool one.

It’s been almost 14 years since the group disbanded, but a recent Instagram video on the official Rbd account has fans excited about a potential comeback. The nostalgic video includes clips from the original Televisa telenovela alongside more recent black-and-white shots of band members Dulce María, Christian Chávez, Anahí, Christopher von Uckermann, and Maite Perroni. The video starts with Anahí’s character Mia Colucci saying (in Spanish), “You know what I dream about? I dream of being able to go back in time and that one day everything will be as before.” This is followed later in the video by Von Uckermann’s Diego Bustamante, saying, “Maybe we can’t go back, but we can still hold on to it for a while.” View this post...

TelevisaUnivision has announced Vix as its flagship streaming brand, with both subscription and free, ad-supported versions of it due to launch in the coming months.
The company unveiled the name this morning at the start of a virtual investor presentation.
Vix has been in the Univision fold since the company acquired it last February. At the time of that deal, the plan was to have it power domestic streaming outlet PrendeTV. As 2021 unfolded, Univision then set a merger with Grupo Televisa’s media arm. The latter merger closed in January.
The AVOD tier of Vix will launch March 31, with the subscription Vix+ making its debut in the second half of 2022. It will feature 40,000 hours of on-demand programming and 100 linear channels, including a new 24-7 sports offering, Zona Tudn.
Vix+ will have more than 50 original titles in the first year and a number of significant deals, including one with Salma Hayek.

Until Pantelion Films unleashed “Instructions Not Included” in the U.S., grossing $44.47 million there in 2013, no other distributor had really cracked the Latino market.
Over the next eight years, Pantelion has produced the biggest U.S.-Mexico double-market comedy movie franchise, “No Manches Frida” and handled the first-run release in the U.S. of six of the 10 biggest Mexican hits of all time.
Now, however, leading Latino studio Pantelion Films is raising the ante.
Partnered by sister company Pantaya, the premium streaming Spanish-language service, from August this year Pantelion has signed talent deals with Maite Perroni (“Dark Desire”) and Mauricio Ochmann (“El Chema”) and co-development and production accords with Elefantec Global and El Estudio, The Lift and Traziende Films.
Simultaneously, with The Lift Entertainment, it has gone into production in Mexico on “La Usurpadora, The Musical,” a modern musical movie makeover of Televisa’s 1998 telenovela classic that punched humungous ratings and was exported to 125 countries.

Netflix revealed a first look at the “Rebelde” 2022 reboot today at its aptly-named global fan event Tudum, taking fans of the nostalgic telenovela back to the halls of Elite Way School.
The reboot of the wildly popular Mexican teen musical dramedy of the early-aughts, directed by Santiago Limón, seems to have taken a page from “Elite,” opting to put the students in preppy uniforms, rather than the iconic scanty skirts and cropped blouses of its predecessor. But, like the “Rebelde” we all know and love, the clip Netflix shared shows that there’ll be no shortage of musical acts.
The new generation of students are as follows: Azul Guaita as Jana Cohen, Sergio Mayer Mori as Estebán, Andrea Chaparro as M.J., Jeronimo Cantillo as Dixon, Franco Masini as Luka Colucci, Lizeth Selene as Andi, Alejandro Puente as Sebastián Langarica-Funtanet and Giovanna Grigio as Emilia. Estefanía Villarreal will reprise her role as Celina Ferrer,...

Pantaleon’s animated film Un Rescate De Huevitos (An Egg Rescue) is a rarity in the specialty box office as a Spanish language animated film. And its opening weekend success will certainly come as no surprise in Mexico where the franchise is its highest-grossing film series to date.
The Spanish-language animation performed tremendously at its 320 locations, averaging over $1,300 per screen—a solid achievement for an animated kids flick. With Sunday’s numbers in, the Alatriste brothers-directed film will have grossed $430K in its opening weekend. Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Austin areas were Rescate’s best markets.
Un Rescate De Huevitos is a sequel to 2015’s Un Gallo Con Muchos Huevos (A Rooster With Many Eggs) and the fourth film in the Huevos franchise overall. The latest tale follows a rooster named Toto (Bruno Bichir) who goes on a rescue mission to free his egg children Max and Uly...

Bad chicken-and-egg puns and indoctrination into animal cruelty as just good fun for everyone involved (including the animals). You know, for kids. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos translates into English as A Rooster with Many Eggs. Which doesn’t make any sense: roosters don’t have eggs or lay eggs; hens do that. But of course in Spanish, huevos is slang for “balls”… that is, testicles. So a fair transliteration of the title of this flick is A Rooster with Lots of Balls, or maybe just A Rooster with Balls. Which means that this CGI cartoon — in which the word huevos gets uttered a lot, and which features anthropomorphized eggs with arms and legs and faces and names — was intended to be one long dick joke. You know, for kids.

So what exactly is Cinco de Mayo? According to Wikipedia:
"Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican civic holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. In the United States Cinco de Mayo has taken on a significance beyond that in Mexico. The date is perhaps best recognized in the United States as a date to celebrate the culture and experiences of Americans of Mexican ancestry, much as St. Patrick's Day, Oktoberfest, and the Chinese New Year are used to celebrate those of Irish, German, and Chinese ancestry respectively. Similar to those holidays, Cinco de Mayo is observed by many Americans regardless of ethnic origin."
When we realized Cinco de Mayo was coming up, we knew we had to pay tribute to all the wonders of Mexico, and after some research,...
