John Corneliu Angheli was born in Focsani, Romania, as the first son of Maria Angheli, a chemistry teacher, and Ionita-Dumitrescu Angheli, a genetic engineer. Both parents are from Romanian descent, from the Eastern Romanian region.
John and his family moved to Australia in the late 1980s, settling in Melbourne, Victoria. After high school, John studied Architecture, at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He followed this studies with a Masters in Business at Swinburne University, a Masters in Education at Monash University, and Communication/ Film Studies at Victoria University, where he filmed parts of his first feature film project.
After college, John went on to teach in higher education and produce his own film projects. Today, John is working as a researcher into human motivation, while continuing his documentary projects, with part 2 of The Great Aha! project series.
