- Nilanjan Lahiri was born in Tellicherry, Kerala, in Blue Lagoons of South India. His grandfather Niren Lahiri was a successful filmmaker in the 1940s of Bengali Films and had significant influence on young Nilanjan's life. He learnt Art and Acting at very young age. He is constantly supported with in terms of creative influence from his Mother and Father, who lives in India and Sister,who lives in Boston. Nilanjan graduated from University of Bombay in 1998 with a degree in Engineering. In 2000 he began the Masters program at Savannah College of Art and Design. His Masters thesis film, A Living Illusion (2003), won awards at the Philadelphia International Film festival and World Fest Houston. His latest school project, "Focus", is a winner at the 2004 Student Academy Awards. He is currently making a Documentary on Capital Punishment in Houston, Texas.
