Darrell Raby started his musical pursuits in the "Live Music Capitol of the World," Austin, Texas. In 2002, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue his passion for film music where he studied in the University of Southern California's graduate-level program for Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television under noted film music composers such as Christopher Young, Joseph Harnell, George Burt, Jack Smalley, and the late David Raksin. In 2003, Darrell worked for composer and tech guru, Jeff Rona, then later as a teaching assistant for Christopher Young's USC course. In 2004, he was selected for the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers' (ASCAP's) premiere international Film-Scoring Workshop, where he was further mentored by emmy award-winning composer Richard Bellis.
While passionate about synthetic and orchestral ambient music, Darrell continues to develop new musical styles while working a diverse career as a film music composer. He currently lives in the Hollywood area with his saxophonist wife, Lee.
