Stuart Crombie worked as a sound engineer at Gaumont-British Animation's Moor Hall Studio, England until it closed in 1950. He then worked as sound dubbing assistant on the BBC Television Newsreel. In 1955 he joined BBC's Ealing Film Studios, recording and dubbing all kinds of shows, rising to senior film operations manager until he left in 1980. During these years he formed a close partnership with
Dennis Berry, composing many production music tracks.
