Seth Rogen is a transparent pot-lover, something audiences have been aware of all the way back to his 2008 stoner film Pineapple Express. In the last few years, the multi-dimensional creative, founder of the cannabis and smoking accessories brand Houseplant, also has found solace in creating artistic clay-molded ceramic pieces.
In addition to selling pre-rolls, Rogen’s first couple of Houseplant products were crafted and polished by his hands in a Los Angeles ceramics studio, such as tall retro ashtrays and blob-covered pots that appeared as if they materialized from a colorful scene in a Dr. Seuss novel. The company’s aim: destigmatize cannabis usage through tastefully sophisticated products with a pristine eye towards functional design.
Founded in 2019, the Houseplant company includes a wide range of glazed clay objects, mugs, and marijuana strains tested by Seth and his co-founder, Evan Goldberg. Recently, they even curated three different box sets of vintage...

I have all the details from inside the event, which as usual attracted the most elite of the Hollywood set who poured in after watching Everything Everywhere All at Once score seven Oscar trophies including Best Picture.
We managed to get our hands on the guest list for the event, held in a 3,000-square-foot indoor reception area, with additional courtyards and other outdoor lounge spaces. The main bar, a prime gathering spot, was 40 feet long. The guests danced into the early-morning hours.

Seth Rogen says he and his wife, Lauren Miller, have discovered the key to happiness in their relationship and lives: not having kids.
Rogen recently sat down for a chat on the episode of Steven Bartlett’s “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, and the subject of parenthood — or more specifically the topic of Rogen and Miller not having children — came up.
“That has helped me succeed as well, definitely,” Rogen said. He explained that he’s managed to focus his time and energy on his career and creative output because “there’s a whole huge thing I’m not doing, which is raising children.”
Rogen also addressed something people have told him before, which is that he might be happier in life if he and Miller did have children, which Rogen simply said he didn’t agree with.

From the start, Courteney Cox was different. She was from Alabama — a place where, she recalls, people were steelworkers or doctors — and didn’t know anything about show business. So, she sought it out. Never in her wildest dreams did she think it’d lead her to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, to be unveiled Feb. 27.
The summer after she graduated high school, Cox moved to New York City and began modelling.
“I got a job right away and I thought, that was easy,” she recalls. Then the changes came. “It was a makeover. They took the Alabama fresh face and made a little funky style and it was really fun. They changed everything about me — they said I was Kentucky-born and they changed my last name to Myles. I don’t know why! But I never thought that when I was 18 it would lead to a...

Graphic novels aren’t just for collecting superhero story arcs. The literary format also tells devastating and informative tales of real-life trauma. I recommend reading The Impending Blindness of Billie Scott by Zoe Thorogood if you want a potent dose of reality wrapped in a yarn about bravery, exploration of self, and literal oncoming darkness. However, today we’re talking about Tangles, an upcoming animated feature from Monarch Media, Point Grey Pictures, Lylas Pictures, and Giant Ant. The collaboration is happening thanks to Sarah Leavitt‘s graphic novel memoir, Tangles: A Story About Alzheimer’s, My Mother and Me.
Giant Ant’s Leah Nelson is directing Tangles, which has the following synopsis: When Alzheimer’s disease begins to strip away her mother’s vibrant personality, a headstrong young woman is forced to return to her oddball family in the conservative small town she recently fled in order to care for her.

The Brad Furman-directed crime thriller City of Lies has had quite a journey, but the Saban Films release finally hits theaters today before dropping on digital and on demand April 9.
Based on the book, LAbyrinth, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Randall Sullivan and adapted by Christian Contreras, City of Lies follows the investigation into the infamous murder of iconic rap artist Christopher Wallace aka the hip hop legend Notorious B.I.G.
Oscar and Emmy winner Forest Whitaker stars as Jack Jackson, a journalist who teams up with LAPD detective Russell Poole (Johnny Depp), who spent nearly 20 years trying to solve the murder. The two of them try to find the truth. They explore why the case remains cold — and why a secret division of the LAPD is seemingly set on keeping it that way.
It’s not a lie that City of Lies went through a lot to make its way to the theaters.

Netflix is defending itself against accusations on social media that it targets viewers by using race to promote its various television series and film offerings. Stacia L. Brown, creator of the podcast “Rise of Charm City” and a writer with bylines at The Washington Post, Buzzfeed, Rolling Stone, and more, gained attention on Twitter after observing some films on Netflix being advertised to her with posters featuring black characters, even if the film predominantly starred a white cast.
Brown posted a photo of her Netflix account with the film poster for Lauren Miller Rogen’s comedy “Like Father,” which was released on the streaming platform over the summer. The movie stars Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer in the lead roles, with Seth Rogen, Paul W. Downs, and Zach Appelman in supporting roles, but Netflix promoted the film to Brown with a poster featuring black actors Leonard Ouzts and Blaire Brook.

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s international distribution company Telepool is investing in a genre slate from indie producer Eric B. Fleischman, along with Maurice Fadida’s Kodiak Pictures, Variety has learned exclusively.
Fleischman was a Sundance Film Festival breakout star in 2016, when at age 26, he made a strong showing with “Sleight” and “Carnage Park.” His company, Defiant Studios, will receive a cash infusion for several horror-thrillers, beginning with the film “Phobias,” which is currently in production.
The Smiths acquired Telepool in late June, with Marc Forster and his shop Elysian Fields. This marks the first significant investment and U.S. expansion for Telepool, a standalone theatrical and multi-platform distribution entity with a big presence in Europe. Kodiak is a producer on David Ayer’s upcoming “The Tax Collector,” starring Shia Labeouf, as well as Gerard Butler’s “Keepers.”
