Los Angeles, March 10 (Ians) The ‘Fabelmans’ actor Seth Rogen, who has been married to Lauren Miller for over a decade, said that opting to not start a family has allowed him to focus more of his time and energy on his career and creative pursuits.

“Phobias,” a group-directed genre title about our worst fears, has sold North American distribution rights to Vertical Entertainment.

The anthology film features the directorial debuts of three women — Jess Varley, Maritte Go, and actor Camilla Belle. They’re joined by Chris von Hoffman (“Monster Party”) and Joe Sill (“Stray”).

The film follows five dangerous patients at a government testing facility, all suffering from extreme phobias. A crazed doctor attempts to weaponize these anxieties. Vertical is hoping for a theatrical release and a digital platform rollout in March.

“Phobias” stars Leonardo Nam (“Westworld”), Hana Mae Lee (“Pitch Perfect”), Alexis Knapp (“The Knocking”), Lauren Miller Rogen, Martina Garcia (“Narcos”) and Grammy winner Macy Gray. The directors collaborated on the script with Broderick Engelhard.

CBS is bringing The Price Is Right back to primetime with three new celebrity specials.

The network will air the three specials, hosted by Drew Carey, in the spring following the ratings success of its previous two celebrity specials, which featured Seth Rogen and the cast of Seal Team. It has not yet disclosed who will participate in the upcoming specials, which are produced by Fremantle and exec produced by Evelyn Warfel.

Seth Rogen’s appearance on a special edition of “The Price Is Right” led the ratings on the quiet day before Christmas Eve with a 0.9 rating and 6.6 million viewers in the key 18-49 demographic.

The game show’s primetime special, “A Holiday Extravaganza with Seth Rogen,” had the actor and comedian come on down to the Drew Carey-hosted show to play for Hilarity for Charity, the national Alzheimer’s non-profit organization that he and he wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, founded.

Following “The Price Is Right,” a repeat of CBS’ “All Rise” notched a 0.6 and 4.3 million viewers and a “Bull” repeat came in with a 0.5 and about 4 million. CBS led the evening with a network average of 0.7 and nearly 5 million viewers, followed by NBC, which brought in an average of 0.5 2.7 million.

Netflix is defending itself against accusations on social media that it targets viewers by using race to promote its various television series and film offerings. Stacia L. Brown, creator of the podcast “Rise of Charm City” and a writer with bylines at The Washington Post, Buzzfeed, Rolling Stone, and more, gained attention on Twitter after observing some films on Netflix being advertised to her with posters featuring black characters, even if the film predominantly starred a white cast.

Brown posted a photo of her Netflix account with the film poster for Lauren Miller Rogen’s comedy “Like Father,” which was released on the streaming platform over the summer. The movie stars Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer in the lead roles, with Seth Rogen, Paul W. Downs, and Zach Appelman in supporting roles, but Netflix promoted the film to Brown with a poster featuring black actors Leonard Ouzts and Blaire Brook.

Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s international distribution company Telepool is investing in a genre slate from indie producer Eric B. Fleischman, along with Maurice Fadida’s Kodiak Pictures, Variety has learned exclusively.

Fleischman was a Sundance Film Festival breakout star in 2016, when at age 26, he made a strong showing with “Sleight” and “Carnage Park.” His company, Defiant Studios, will receive a cash infusion for several horror-thrillers, beginning with the film “Phobias,” which is currently in production.

The Smiths acquired Telepool in late June, with Marc Forster and his shop Elysian Fields. This marks the first significant investment and U.S. expansion for Telepool, a standalone theatrical and multi-platform distribution entity with a big presence in Europe. Kodiak is a producer on David Ayer’s upcoming “The Tax Collector,” starring Shia Labeouf, as well as Gerard Butler’s “Keepers.”
