Skydance New Media’s World War II Marvel game has finally got a title: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. Not only that, it has also got a release window and a first trailer. The game is based on the Marvel superhero characters, Captain America, Black Panther, and two other characters.
The characters of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
Skydance and Marvel Games announced the game back in 2021 (via Deadline) and officially teased in 2022 (via Game Informer). The trailer of the game is rather promising as it sees Captain America and Black Panther in a face-off. This is not the first time the two characters have shared the screen in the Marvel Universe, but this is certainly the first time that they will come together like this.

"Star Trek: Picard" shares more than a little DNA with "12 Monkeys." In its third season, the recently ended "Trek" sequel series was captained by showrunner Terry Matalas, who co-created the wild Syfy Channel adaptation of Terry Gilliam's also-wild film. Aside from a shared showrunner, "Star Trek: Picard" was home to several key cast and crew members who worked on both shows – and nearly featured one more.
In a Reddit Ama about the show's third season, user Drewski1138 pointed out several narrative choices in "Picard" that echoed "12 Monkeys," including references to a mysterious red realm, a new drug called "Splinter" (a reference to "12 Monkeys" time travel), and more. "Were there any '12 Monkeys' Easter eggs we might have missed ... Were there any that you were told you couldn't put in?" the user asked Matalas. The answer? The score of Jedi: Survivor perfectly immerses players in the game's different planets and overall space, paying homage to the epic legacy of John Williams while also pushing boundaries. The composers aimed to create a unique and distinct score for the game, only hinting at classic Star Wars themes in a few specific moments, in order to let the story stand on its own. By using familiar themes sparingly and strategically, the music becomes more impactful and powerful, enhancing key moments in the game's narrative.

Barbie, Spider-Man, Black Panther – visions of dolls and comic-book characters inevitably will be dancing in the heads of Grammy voters when they sit down to nominate movie music for this year’s golden gramophones.
“Barbie: The Album” seems a shoo-in to compete for best compilation soundtrack, the category for movies dominated by songs. But the Metro Boomin-curated album for the animated “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” also topped Billboard’s soundtrack chart this year and seems likely to swing into competition.
On a similar note, the third edition of “Guardians of the Galaxy” film inspired another “Awesome Mix” that was hugely popular and seems poised to join its two predecessors as a Grammy nominee. The “Fast X” album and Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid,” with its new songs by Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda, could also make it onto the ballot.

As Emmy voting comes to a close, score mixer Phil McGowan could find himself with multiple nominations, having worked on the sound of Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Picard,” Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” and “Ozark,” and Roku’s “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.”
He spoke with Variety about his approach to each project and what needed to be taken into consideration to preserve the sonic integrity in his mixes.
“Cobra Kai”
“This season was bigger and more maximal than previous seasons, but there wasn’t a big sonic shift. However, each episode is like a movie. Composers Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson approach it like it’s another ‘Karate Kid’ film. There are guitars, a drum kit, drum machines and lots of percussion. They use a lot of samples that are reminiscent of the 1980s and ’90s. So, I have fun applying mixing techniques with reverb that blends ’80s hair metal...

Three months from now, the Weeknd might just have an Emmy to place alongside his four Grammys and his Oscar nomination.
That’s because he joins a dozen other music superstars — including Dolly Parton, Common, Ryan Tedder, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Meshell Ndegeocello — who have entered work in this year’s Emmy competition.
Voting began yesterday in the seven music categories. Approximately 550 members of the Academy’s music branch will cast ballots, although viewing the hundreds of entries before voting ends on June 26 is an impossible task, Academy officials privately concede.
The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye, is among the 19 entries in the Music Direction category. He submitted “The Weeknd Live at Sofi Stadium,” an HBO special that aired in February. If nominated, he’s likely to be up against such past winners as Adam Blackstone and Rickey Minor (“The Oscars”).

Season 3 of Star Trek: Picard not only reunited all of the Next Generation crew, but also gave them a fitting sendoff for which fans have been waiting since the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis. It wasn’t easy for anyone, including composer Stephen Barton.
Barton admits, however, that he painted himself, or composed himself rather, into a corner.
“We decided we were going to try to score all of it which meant writing seven hours of music,” Barton said during a panel for the CBS/Paramount+ series at Deadline’s Sound & Screen event. “I think about four hours in I was literally dead, absolutely. [This story contains spoilers for Picard season three’s final episode.]
Star Trek Picard’s third season finale takes the Next Generation crew back to where it all began — though showrunner Terry Matalas was too busy capturing its key scenes to take in the wonder of being on the bridge of the Enterprise-d nearly 30 years after Tng went off the air.
“The Last Generation” – written and directed by Matalas – concludes a season-long narrative with a finale that is a high-stakes mix of nostalgia and tears. The episode finds Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the rest of his The Next Generation crew taking their old ship, the Enterprise-d, deep into the heart of a massive Borg cube to save Picard’s Borg-ified son, Jack (Ed Speleers), from the vengeful clutches of the Borg Queen (voiced by Star Trek: First Contact’s Alice Krige) before she can use Jack (Aka “Vox”) to assimilate the galaxy. Warning: Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 7 - "Dominion"Stephen Barton, one of the composers for Star Trek: Picard season 3, has praised how the show has incorporated elements from both Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager. The hotly-anticipated Star Trek: The Next Generation reunion has pleasantly surprised many viewers by centering its main plot around the fallout from DS9's Dominion War. On top of this, actor Tim Russ reprised his role as Voyager's Tuvok - with a Changeling twist - in the most recent episode of Picard.

Warning: Spoilers for Star Trek: Picard season 3!The end is near for Star Trek: Picard as the series’ third and final season draws to a close. While the first two seasons of the Paramount+ series were generally well-received, Picard season 3 has taken the show to new heights, especially as it approaches the inevitable sendoff of its cast and crew. As much as Star Trek: Picard has touched on the wealth of history inherent to modern-day Star Trek, the series has also firmly established itself as a unique entry into the franchise canon, and in many ways will be difficult to follow.

The music of Star Trek: Picard season 3 will honor what came before by referencing and paying homage to the scores from several past Star Trek movies. Music continually plays a large part in Star Trek's appeal, beginning with Alexander Courage's immortal theme from Star Trek: The Original Series, which almost every Star Trek series and movie has featured, at least in part. From Star Trek: Voyager's epic, soaring theme to the understated beauty of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's intro music, music has always set the mood for what was to come in the final frontier.
That said, the biggest, most majestic Star Trek music has always come in the movies. While the film itself is highly divisive, Jerry Goldsmith's score for Star Trek: The Motion Picture is generally considered not only a franchise peak but one of the best scores in popular film history.

Michael Dorn and Patrick Stewart reunite in Star Trek: Picard season 3, as Worf and Jean-Luc Picard join forces once more in a new image from the upcoming final season. Dorn first portrayed the franchise's first Klingon main character in Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987 to 1994, before reprising the role in later seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and across four theatrically released films. Worf was Starfleet's first Klingon officer and served under Picard aboard the USS Enterprise-d under Picard, achieving the rank of Lt. Commander before being reassigned to Deep Space 9 following the ship's destruction.
First revealed by TV Line, the image from Star Trek: Picard's final season sees Dorn act alongside Stewart on-screen for the first time since Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002. In the image, Picard reunites with Worf onboard an unknown starship, with Worf appearing aged and now dressed in traditional Klingon clothing rather than typical Starfleet uniforms.

Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas teases how season 3 will feel more like Star Trek: The Next Generation through its title sequence and music that evokes the franchise. The Star Trek spin-off series centers on Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard as he returns to adventuring across the stars following his retirement from Starfleet. After Star Trek: Picard season 1 saw the captain fight for synths, and season 2 faced him with terrifying alternate realities and journeys back in time to the 21st century, season 3 will see Picard reunite with friends and foes from his tenure as captain of the USS Enterprise.
Speaking to Den of Geek, showrunner Matalas explained how Star Trek: Picard season 3 will feel more like Star Trek: The Next Generation beyond just featuring the return of The Next Generation's cast. The showrunner explained that he hoped to evoke the score of the final seasons of The Next Generation through...

“Death Stranding” swept the Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.) Awards, including winning the top prize of audio of the year. For the first time, the G.A.N.G. Awards were streamed live on Twitch.tv and featured a pre- and post-show on Wednesday night.
A genre-defying action experience by Kojima Productions, “Death Stranding” also won sound design of the year. Other winners of the evening included “Cordova’s Theme” from “Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order” for best original choral composition and “Call of Duty: Mobile” for best sound design in a casual/social game.
Said G.A.N.G. president Brian Schmidt: “In this our 18th year, we again recognize the highest achievements in game music, sound and dialogue. We are also excited to round out our indie categories with the new best dialogue for an indie game award, helping recognize the amazing work done by the smallest of teams.

Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir continued her winning streak, claiming top honors for both her “Joker” and “Chernobyl” scores at Tuesday night’s inaugural awards of the Society of Composers & Lyricists at Los Angeles’ Skirball Cultural Center.
Her music for “Joker” was named outstanding original score for a studio film and her score for HBO’s “Chernobyl” was cited as outstanding original score for a television or streaming production. They followed her Golden Globe win Sunday night for “Joker” and BAFTA nomination earlier Tuesday. She won the Emmy in September for her score to the HBO miniseries “Chernobyl.”
Guðnadóttir is among the most talked-about newcomers in film music, first for her “Chernobyl” score (built largely on sounds she recorded while visiting the nuclear power plant where it was shot) and more recently her “Joker” music (her electro-acoustic cello providing the accompaniment for star Joaquin Phoenix’s on-screen dancing). Four months after winning an Emmy for her score to the miniseries “Chernobyl” and two days after taking home a Golden Globe for her music to “Joker,” composer Hildur Gudnadottir won new awards for both of those scores at the first annual Scl Awards, presented by the Society of Composers and Lyricists.
Although the Scl was formed in 1983 as an offshoot of previous organizations that had dated back to 1945, its efforts to promote the interests of composers and lyricists working in visual media did not include giving out awards until this year.
“What took you guys so long with the awards?” composer Bill Conti asked at the beginning of the show. “People who work in Hollywood, we need constant approval.”

The Society of Composers & Lyricists has been around for nearly 75 years, but not until this year did the organization start its own annual awards program for music appearing in film, TV and videogames — and the nominees announced Tuesday for the inaugural show are certain to be scrutinized as a bellwether for what to expect as the Motion Picture Academy’s music branch votes on shortlists for the song and score categories.
As expected, Hildur Gudnadóttir scored nominations in film and TV categories alike, with nods for her work on “Joker” and “Chernobyl,” respectively. The latter limited series already won her an Emmy, and she’s being seen as a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination for scoring the blockbuster supervillain origin story.
The Scl Awards have instituted separate categories for scores of studio films and independent films. In the studio division, Gudnadóttir’s “Joker” music will face the scores written by Michael Abels for “Us,...

For Cameron, Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away .was a dream come true. I had been talking to them for some time about doing something in 3D because it’s never been done. How lucky to be working with the Cirque family, to have that talent create such an emotional performance for this film. Because their death-defying acts require such incredible skill and nerve, we felt it was so important to show the cabling, everything supporting that human ability.

Stephen Barton knows he's lucky to be alive—and now the 22-year-old survivor of the Aurora, Colo., theater massacre is doing what he can to prevent such a thing from happening again. "In the next four years, 48,000 Americans won't be so lucky because they'll be murdered with guns in the next president's term," says Barton, who was shot in the face and neck when a gunman opened fire on a packed screening of The Dark Knight Rises, in a new pro-gun control public service announcement for the Demand a Plan campaign. The number of prospective victims is "enough to fill over 200 theaters," Barton notes. The PSA, paid for by United Against Illegal Guns Support Fund, seeks to...

Stephen Barton has gone from victim to advocate. One of the 58 injured survivors of the mass shooting in an Aurora, Colorado theater during a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises that killed 12, Barton has gone public in a non-partisan public service message asking both President Obama and Mitt Romney to offer up a plan to curb gun violence. He cites statistics that say 48,000 Americans will die of gun violence in the next four years -- nearly 9,000 died from firearms in 2010 -- and requests that voters watching this week's debate watch closely for any
