One of three directors who first won attention with 2007’s excellent three-part thriller “The Signal” (not to be confused with another enterprising sci-fi-tinged indie of that title from 2014), Dan Bush has made several interesting genre features on his own since then. Like cloning fantasy “The Reconstruction of William Zero” and bank robbery-turned-monster movie “The Vault,” his latest film intrigues with an offbeat premise even if it ultimately doesn’t develop to fully satisfying results.
Once again co-written with cast member Conal Byrne, “The Dark Red” is or even come to full fruition individually. Nonetheless, this quasi-horror mixed bag will hold viewers’ attention for its originality even as it flags in both credibility and suspense. Dark Sky is releasing the movie on five U.S. screens March 6, simultaneous with its digital-format launch. It should do well enough among genre fans — who nonetheless will be kept waiting a bit longer for Bush...

She says her newborn baby was kidnapped by a secret society to harvest its supernatural blood. She says her families bloodline means her baby has, like her, great psychic powers – including the ability to hear other people’s thoughts. Trapped on a psych ward, subject to a multitude of psychiatric sessions, she begs the doctors to let her go so she can rescue her child from the cult’s dungeons.

Tagline: "The Scariest Thing About Her Story is that No One Believes It." The Dark Red is the latest film from director Dan Bush. The film relies on a bit of an unreliable narrator as she relives a troubled past. Believing she has a rare, supernatural blood type, this character opens up about a personal tragedy to a psychologist. This title stars: April Billingsley ("The Walking Dead"), Kelsey Scott (How to Get Away with Murder) and Rhoda Griffis. Recently, Dark Sky Films picked up this release for a showing on Digital platforms. The film's official poster and trailer are hosted here. A few early reviews have come in for the film, from the UK's Frightfest Film Festival. I’ve got a trailer here for you to watch today from an awesome-looking psychological supernatural thriller called The Dark Red. The film comes from director Dan Bush. He previously made a sci-fi thriller called The Signal, which was a fantastic mind-bending movie, and this new one looks like it’s going to deliver another crazy cool story!
The film stars April Billingsley, who plays a young woman who is committed to a psychiatric hospital and claims her newborn was stolen by a dark cult. Here’s the synopsis that was shared for the film:
Sybil is being held against her will in a psychiatric ward because her claims are extreme. She says her newborn baby was kidnapped by a secret society to harvest its supernatural blood. She says the ancient bloodline has great powers - it lets you hear other people’s thoughts. And she begs the doctors to...

"Are you hearing anything or... seeing anything out of the ordinary?" Signature Entertainment in the UK has unveiled the first official trailer for a cult thriller, psychological horror film titled The Dark Red, the latest from genre filmmaker Dan Bush. The film stars April Billingsley as a young woman who is committed to a psychiatric hospital and claims her newborn was stolen by a dark cult, a "secret society to harvest its supernatural blood". But is it true or is she just delusional? The film is described as an "seat-edge twisted shocker" that premiered at the Austin Film Festival late last year, but is still waiting for an official release in the Us. The cast includes Conal Byrne, Bernard Setaro Clark, Jill Jane Clements, John Curran, Rhoda Griffis, and Kelsey Scott. This trailer gets pretty violent and bloody (since there's no MPAA restrictions playing a UK trailer) so watch out.

The population in Mystic Falls continues to grow as various Facebook posts reveal the addition of three new people to Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries.
Houghton Talent, Inc. sent out a congrats to Jason Mac for booking a role on the hit CW show, and People Store gave online kudos to Diany Rodriguez and April Billingsley for adding The Vampire Diaries to their resumes.
Mac and Rodriguez appear to be newbies, with each showing up in a few film shorts, but Billingsley has been making the rounds in a variety of B-films, including Hellphone, Andre the Butcher, and Chosen, where she had the interesting role of ‘Ritual Murder Victim.’ If any of the new faces are primed to be vamp chow, it’s Billingsley.
There are currently no details about what characters the trio will be playing, but I’d say we’re looking at a few walk-on parts that...
