The new offshoot of The Office has added three to its cast. According to Deadline, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young are joining the previously cast Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson. Peacock ordered the yet-to-be titled comedy in May.

A down-on-his-luck coach or mentor assembling a bunch of underdogs and taking them to glory has to be the most common sports film template. Then we have these self-searching adventure films where one individual or a group takes a journey somewhere in search of purpose. Hard Miles, directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna, happens to be a mix of both of these kinds. Naturally, it appears to be conventional and familiar, but that doesn’t mean it’s not rewarding. In many ways, this genre itself is like a comforting cheeseburger. If it’s done right, it’s always going to work, and it certainly doesn’t matter if you’ve had it thousands of times before. This film is a profound example of that. It is, obviously, inspired by this real person, Greg Townsend, and his incredible story. Matthew Modine (Dr. Brenner from Stranger Things is how most of you know him) plays the part,...

By the time the fifth season of "The Office" came around, the NBC comedy series was already an award-winning hit. The show had a huge fanbase, averaged around nine million viewers with each new episode, and it had previously won Emmys for Best Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Steve Carell, and a variety of wins and nominations for writing, directing, and various supporting performances from the rest of the cast. But season 5 would bring a new challenge when the show was given a prime time slot following Super Bowl Xliii in 2009, bringing millions of new eyes to the series.
As longtime producer Halsted Sullivan recalled in Andy Greene's book "The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s," the pressure was on to make the show appealing to both dedicated fans and new viewers who had never seen the series before:...

Showrunner Greg Daniels’ sequel to hit sitcom The Office has been commissioned for a series at Peacock. Domhnall Gleeson will lead the ensemble cast.
There have been repeated talks of a revival of the American version of The Office revival in the years since it concluded. Given the success of the show, it seemed to be a question not of if, but when. We now have the answer.
Greg Daniels, who developed the American remake and served as showrunner for the majority of its nine seasons, has co-created a sequel series with Michael Konan.
Described as being “set in the same universe” as The Office, the description, via Deadline, reads as follows:

It's officially official: We are returning to the "Office" universe. Yes, we say universe because NBC's beloved sitcom isn't being revived or rebooted. Rather, the powers that be have opted to craft a spin-off of sorts set in the same world as the American version of "The Office," albeit centered on a new cast of characters in a new location. Per a press release, the series is set to begin filming in July for an eventual release on the streaming service Peacock, and the first plot details have been revealed.
The currently untitled "Office" spin-off hails from Greg Daniels, who officially came on board to develop the project last year. He also adapted the original British "Office" series for American television. Daniels is working alongside "Nathan for You" co-creator Michael Koman. The show has been ordered to series at Peacock and is being described as "a new mockumentary series...

Nathan Zellner and David Zellner’s Sasquatch Sunset is stomping into circa 850 theaters this weekend after debuting in 9 with a solid opening for a film many could find weird. A tribe of Sasquatch, possibly the last of their kind, live and love in the woods of northern California, where it was shot.
“We are taking Bigfoot to America. We have high hopes that the broader market will embrace the movie,” says Kyle Davies of distributor Bleecker Street, calling it “a very different” kind of movie and “a bit of an unknown.”
“It’s a wildcard.”
Marketing was mainly through social activations. “I wouldn’t call it traditional marketing. It doesn’t really fit in that box,” Davies adds. The Sasquatch standees in theaters are fun. And Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar is displaying a baby Sasquatch sitting in a glass case with umbilical cord and placenta.
This is “a polarizing film.

A grueling two-pedal route to the Grand Canyon just might provide the course-correction male juvenile offenders need in “Hard Miles.” With Matthew Modine as their teacher-coach, this fact-inspired tale covers familiar redemptive sports drama terrain. But it’s traveled with affectingly understated assurance by director R.J. Daniel Hanna (“Miss Virginia”) and a strong cast, making for a satisfying scenic ride that picked up several festival audience awards last year.
In a film loosely based on the life and work of his character’s offscreen namesake, Modine plays avid cyclist Greg Townsend, welding instructor at a medium-security correctional residential school in Colorado. That job environment is no picnic, given volatile students who can go from bantering to insults to fistfights in a flash. Plus he’s got his own demons to wrestle with — there are flashbacks to an abused childhood, and phone calls from an incarcerated brother keep urging Greg to...

Chicago – The journey of a thousand miles begins … in the case of “Hard Miles” starring Matthew Modine … with a single pedal. “Hard Miles” joins the pantheon of cycling movies, in this case with Modine portraying a social worker who teaches his life lessons through a bicycling journey with his youthful charges.
The based-on-truth story features Greg (Modine) as a beleaguered social worker at a Colorado juvenile correctional cente, with a passion for bicycle challenges and a revelatory idea for rehabilitation … rounding up an unlikely crew of incarcerated students to complete a transformative 762 mile ride from Denver to the Grand Canyon. Earlier this month, it was reported that The Office showrunner Greg Daniels was meeting with writers for a potential follow-up to the acclaimed comedy series, and the project seems to have taken another step forward. Deadline reports that Daniels has teamed up with Michael Koman, co-creator of Nathan For You, for this new Office series.
The new series would not be a reboot of The Office but take place in the same universe, just set in a new office with new characters. This would potentially allow for cameos or guest spots from cast members of the original series, but sources tell Deadline that a full-blown reunion isn’t in the cards. Daniels has said that the new series could follow a film crew doing a documentary about a different subject, which could mean just about anything.

Exclusive: As Greg Daniels continues to work with a group of writers on what could become an expansion of The Office universe, Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman has emerged as a leading creative voice. If Daniels’ new mockumentary exploratory project gets greenlighted to series, Koman will serve as the offshoot’s co-creator, Deadline has learned.
The potential Office follow-up, from Universal Television, remains in development.
As Deadline revealed exclusively in January, the prospective new series, which is not a reboot, would likely be set in a new office with new characters but live within the same world as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series which follows employees at the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Reboot.
Now that the WGA strike is nearing its end, the term is returning in a big way, and it isn't easy to be excited about this piece of TV news.

The only bit of good news is that Greg Daniels, who brought the Steve Carell comedy series to life, will shepherd the new adaptation.
There are no details on where the potential series would air, but it's hard to imagine any network not jumping at the opportunity of bringing the iconic comedy back to life.

No other details about this Office reboot are available. A reboot of “The Office” is reportedly in the works from series co-creator Greg Daniels, according to Puck journalist Matthew Belloni.
In his Sunday newsletter about what may happen in the wake of the WGA strike coming to an end, Belloni cautioned that once the ratification of the WGA’s deal with the AMPTP happens there will be a “stampede” that revolves around “every show and movie fighting for the same resources as studios try to salvage their 2024 slates.”
“We’re also about to see a firehose of announcements of projects and castings that have been held back for fear of bad optics or violating guild rules. Greg Daniels is set to do a reboot of ‘The Office,’ for instance,” Belloni wrote. “Disney’s Dana Walden will finally be able to announce the return of her Bff Ryan Murphy from Netflix. A ton of high-profile movie scripts will come in.

Baker shared in an Instagram post that he planned to send back the money from a Kickstarter campaign in 2020 for a proposed spinoff, Uncle Stan. In a statement, Baker wrote, “We apologize about the delay in updates. We have been working behind the scenes to get everything on track and rewards fulfilled. Actor David Leslie Baker from The Office is returning any money generated through a Kickstarter campaign to launch a spinoff starring his character Stanley Hudson.
Baker hoped to revive his crossword puzzle-loving character in a series loosely titled Uncle Stan. The plot followed Stanley after he retired from Dunder Mifflin and moved to Florida. His peace is interrupted when his nephew Lucky called and said that he needed help running his Los Angeles-based motorcycle/flower shop.
The pilot was set up for Stanley to encounter new characters in a new setting, but two hurdles ultimately blocked any movement.
At this point, Baker is returning about $100,000 to fans. There was also some confusion about the final tally, which Baker explained in a recent Instagram post.
Why is David Leslie Baker from ‘The Office’ unable to move forward with the spinoff?

The U.S. remake of "The Office" is one of the most popular television shows ever — you can basically watch the whole series via memes/gifs. It's surprising, then, that 10 years on from the finale, there hasn't been a spin-off. Since the original show's 201 episodes remain absurdly popular on streaming, perhaps NBC doesn't see a need for more when the fans are satisfied with rewatching ad infinitum. However, Leslie David Baker tried to get a spin-off made about his character, and he turned to those fans to make it happen.
In 2020, Baker and his business partner Sardar Khan started a Kickstarter for "Uncle Stan." The premise would be that Stanley, now retired from Dunder Mifflin and living in Florida, gets a call from his nephew Lucky, who runs a motorcycle/flower shop. If that sounds like an odd business to you, you're not alone; the shop is failing, so "Uncle...

Stanley Hudson from The Office isn't getting a spin-off after all. In 2020, actor Leslie David Baker started a Kickstarter campaign for the spin-off series and raised $336,451 from 1,640 donations. It’s disappointing news for The Office fans hoping to see a Stanley Hudson spinoff, as the proposed sitcom has been delayed yet again. Leslie David Baker, who played the cantankerous Stanley on the hit NBC comedy series, has refunded fans who donated to a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a half-hour pilot for the project. The campaign launched over three years ago and raised more than $330,000; however, a pilot was never produced. Taking to Instagram earlier this week, Baker shared a statement saying he will be returning $110,000 of the donations. The actor apologized for the delays before explaining why the project has taken so long to come to fruition, citing Covid lockdowns and the Wag and SAG strikes. “After careful consideration, we have decided to refund our backers,” Baker continued. “As a token of our appreciation, for your support and patience, the Backer rewards will still be fulfilled along with a full refund.

You may have forgotten that there was once a spin-off of The Office in the works which would have focused on Stanley Hudson, the grouchy salesman played by Leslie David Baker. What’s more, Baker actually got the ball rolling on the spin-off himself by announcing a Kickstarter campaign in 2020, but after three years of delays due to Covid-19 and the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes, the actor revealed that he will be returning the money raised for the series.
The Office spin-off, titled Uncle Stan, would have followed Stanley as he reluctantly came out of retirement to help his nephew raise his two kids and run a motorcycle/flower shop in Los Angeles. The Kickstarter campaign started with a goal of bringing in $300,000 and concluded with $336,450 in donations, but after three years, some backers started to wonder if they had been scammed.

NBC’s The Office may have tied up many loose ends before the series concluded, but one nagging fan theory was that office pals Stanley Hudson (Leslie David Baker) and Phyllis Lapin-Vance (Phyllis Smith) hooked up.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet asked Baker and Smith if they thought their characters had a romantic tryst and they answered in a way that only Stanley and Phyllis would have tackled the question. “What would Bob (Phyllis’s husband) have done to Stanley?” Baker laughed.
“Stanley wouldn’t be sitting here today if that were true,” Smith sweetly added.

Smith and Baker, who remained close friends after The Office ended in 2013 can’t envision romance between Stanley and Phyllis. “Stanley would be in triage,” Baker joked.
“Or in a refrigerator,” Smith joked. Phyllis’s husband Bob Vance owned the Scranton business Vance Refrigeration.

Even if you’ve never seen an episode of The Office, there’s a good chance that you’ve seen the “Parkour” scene in video, gif, or meme form. This opening from the season six premiere “Gossip” sees Michael Scott (Steve Carell), Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), and Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) trying to parkour across the office in increasingly hilarious and barely dangerous ways.
To celebrate the release of more extended “Superfan” episodes on Peacock, the official YouTube channel for The Office released an extended cut of this fan-favorite opening scene that has an entire extra minute of parkour shenanigans. We get to see Michael slam Jim’s (John Krasinski) laptop shut so that he can belly flop onto the conference table and whisper “parkour” directly into the camera. Robert California was one of the few characters on "The Office" that fans seem to either love or hate. The workplace sitcom is filled with "people we know," and several of us have dealt with prickly co-workers similar to Angela (Angela Martin) or people like Stanley (Leslie David Baker), who hate their jobs and live for pretzel day. Many of us have also rooted for obvious workplace romances like Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer).
But Robert California? One of these things is not like the other, as few of us have likely crossed paths with anyone like him. And for that, we can blame Michael Scott (of course we can). When Steve Carell left "The Office" after seven seasons, it left a gaping hole in the cast, and the show would eventually turn to James Spader as the new boss to fill the tremendous void Michael left. You'd think it'd be safe to assume that there weren't a ton of injuries on the set of "The Office." The cast was pretty sedentary for a lot of the filming, only occasionally having to perform such strenuous tasks as answering a phone or using the copy machine. Besides Rainn Wilson's knack for injuring his co-stars, the actors in "The Office" didn't have much to worry about in terms of their physical wellbeing.
The setting in "The Office" is essential to the show's tone, as boring as it is (although enough fans are interested in the visiting the office to justify "The Office Experience" exhibit). But the show left its comfort zone for the season 3 episode "Beach Games," which resulted in a deviation from the series' safe, humorously boring norm. Cameo‘s latest feature will give its users a new way to get face time with their favorite stars. The platform known for its celebrity shoutouts has announced Cameo Live, which lets buyers purchase ten-minute video chats with actors, athletes, influencers, and other notable people.
While Cameo’s flagship product — customized video shoutouts delivered by celebrities — is intended for a single recipient, Cameo Live purchases can be enjoyed by a group.
