Loveday Smith is an actor, producer and writer working in film, television, live performance and audio. Initially from the Pennines in the north of England, she has been living and working in the Netherlands since 2013.
After working extensively in mainstream theatre and TV in the UK, a midlife crisis brought her via France to the Netherlands, where she began to expand her acting practice by working with artists such as Paul Maheke ('a fire circle for a public hearing' Vleeshal Gallery); Michael Portnoy ('Relational Stalinism' at the Witte de Wit Centre for Contemporary Art Rotterdam; Extra Extra Radio series 1,2 & 3) Priscila Fernandes ('In Darkness All Cats Are Grey') and Helen Anna Flanagan ('Mash Up #2 MHKA'; 'Gestures of Anatomy' IKOB Prize for Feminist Art; 'Sunday' Quote Unquote). Her latest collaboration with Helen, 'Deeply, Madly' was initially shown as a process in two parts at Brussels Centrale for Contemporary Art, and later as a whole film, premiering at IFFR 2023 in the RTM programme.
Recent work includes the title role in "Britannia" by Amartey Golding (Autograph and Norwich Castle Gallery) and Mel in "Goldfish For Breakfast" by Uriël Matahelumual which premiered at IFFR 2024.
She is the voice of Maya's Little Dictator in the animation "I'm Perfectly Fine" that premiered at the Nederlands Film Festival in 2023.
