The majority of The A.V. Club’s readership likely knows about as much about the world of bull riding as most bull-riding fans probably know about Sean Tillmann’s tongue-in-cheek porn-star-inspired alter ego Har Mar Superstar. But while there’s not yet a Netflix documentary series for people hoping to learn all about the indie musician, there soon will be one for those who want a glimpse into the world of large horned mammal wrangling.
The six-part documentary series from Chef’s Table showrunner Andrew Fried takes a long, hard look at the American and Brazilian dudes who are crazy/brave enough to climb up onto a 1,500-pound bucking bull in front of a cheering crowd of spectators who are secretly hoping to see them trampled under hoof.
Fearless comes charging onto Netflix, nostrils flared, on August 19.

Macaulay Culkin was all tongue-in-cheek Tuesday night ... in the cheek of a middle aged R&B singer.Culkin and his band, The Pizza Underground, were in Billings, Mt with R&B singer Har Mar Superstar ... and he was definitely feeling the band's rendition of "Never My Love."Macaulay was game for bumping, grinding, dipping and some pretty intense face sucking.Get these guys a home ... alone. It’s been a great year for music videos. Seriously. YouTube has spawned and seen a kind of renaissance of high quality moving pictures set to music coming from both independent artists and the majors alike. Below are some of my favorite music videos I’ve featured this year from some of my favorite artists listed in no particular order. What I love about the videos is they're all drastically different. There's everything from a “Choose Your Own Adventure” style clip to a long-form, instrumental short film, and each highlights the freedom and creativity that's still ever-present in independent music. These artists are at the forefront of their respective genre’s and their videos are a testament to what we can look forward to in the coming year. I had meant to pick only five videos to feature on this list, but looking back, it was way too hard to pare down.

Macaulay Culkin was neither home nor alone. In fact, he joined several others at the Moustache Bar in Tijuana, Mexico, on Monday, Oct. 21. Decked out in all-black and sporting long hair, the 33-year-old actor could be seen sitting on a flight of stairs while taking in a performance by his friend, Har Mar Superstar. Though he's looked gaunt and disheveled in recent years, Culkin reportedly seemed healthy and happy. (In August 2012, his rep denied that the former child star had developed a drug problem, telling E! News that such reports were "not only categorically without merit" but also "impossibly and ridiculously fictitious.") The sighting of the star comes a little more than...

Macaulay Culkin took part in a donkey show in Mexico this weekend ... but it was bestiality-free. Mac and R&B singer Har Mar Superstar were in Tijuana for a concert. They posted this pic just before going on stage, teasing the surprise guest who was riding a zonkey. For those unfamiliar -- zonkeys are donkeys painted to look like zebras ... a long-standing Tj thing. The concert was a hit, though judging from the photos a little on the weird side.

“Lady, You Shot Me,” are the ubiquitous final words uttered by the great Sam Cooke as he fell down, murdered by the manager of the Hacienda Motel in Los Angeles in 1964. They're powerful and striking as far as last words go, and they're now re-appropriated by the only music “revivalist” worth a damn, Har Mar Superstar (or, as his friends call him, Sean Tillman.) The single pays homage to the greats that created the music Har Mar Superstar now re-creates with precision and style. It's also the first single and video from his new record Bye Bye 17 out on Cult Records (the label started by Strokes front man Julian Casablancas). Channeling the charisma and stage presence of the great James Brown and the pleading earnestness of Cooke, Tillman struts around the stage belting and wailing to precise effect. Washed in red light with sexy, Motown-esque girl band backup singers, the...

More often than not, it is pretty easy to figure out why a deleted scene released on a DVD was left on the cutting room floor. But not so with this exclusive clip from the Pitch Perfect Blu-ray/DVD set (out Dec. 18), thanks to the hilarious mention of banana farts, finger blades, and a little light racism. Not intrigued yet? What if we told you there’s also a tawdry peek at Har Mar Superstar’s more-than-ample abs and a few seconds of the awesome Rebel Wilson to fill you with glee?Pitch Perfect is not just about a capella. It's about the warring factions within a capella — and not just between groups from the same college. No, the animosity extends well into the alumni circuit. There's nothing better than when a movie surprises you, and "Pitch Perfect," the giddy-good new competitive a cappella movie, is one of the year's biggest and best surprises. It might not seem like it, but "Pitch Perfect," with its nifty "Bring It On"-meets-"Glee" set-up, could be a sleeper hit for Universal. We will now run down the pitchy highs and baritone lows of "Pitch Perfect," which hits theaters next Friday, October 5. Pro: The movie's general "attitude" Our central character (played winningly by Anna Kendrick, from "Twilight" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World") is a moody aspiring deejay with a cutting wit, and the movie has a prickly edge that nicely compliments its squeaky-clean subject matter. Its roots are in John Hughes coming-of-age comedies and the aforementioned "Bring It On," but it errs on the side of borderline abrasiveness every time, and that, for once, is a very, very good thing.

Daniel Tosh is that guy that created a webisode series called Tosh.O on Comedy Central way before Rob Dyrdek basically did the same show on MTV. He shows video clips of people being jackasses and even recreates some of the moments by bringing said jackasses on his show. He may be hilarious to some, but recently when he did a rape joke he came off as the jackass and people immediately headed to Twitter to express how they felt. (Because, well, that's just what our society does now when a debatable situation like this happens. We'd rather do that than write a novel on our Facebook even though a lot of people still do that too.)
Anywho, here's the breakdown on why people got either infuriated or didn't care less about the incident.
1. Daniel Tosh states at the Laugh Factory how rape jokes are always funny.

It's hard to believe that nearly half the year is already over. With April having come and gone, we've already endured our first big fest of the season - Coachella, of course - and thankfully this year's Grammys helped make the beloved Bon Iver a household name. Best of all, Adele is on track to receive the first diamond record (10x platinum) since Usher's '04 effort Confessions.
So, basically it's safe to say that 2012 is already a hell of a year in music, and we've spotted some amazing new acts on the rise this year that are sure to only make it better. You may already recognize some of the names (who hasn't heard of Kimbra at this point?), but we hope you get well acquainted with all of them.

Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon must not be keen on taking breaks, because despite being on the road for most of 2011 – touring behind his Grammy-winning self-titled album – he somehow found the time to record a new full-length effort with his rapper friend Astronautalis.
While the concept may seem like a radical departure for Vernon, it’s really not if you are aware of his other side-gig with his supergroup Gayngs – a “collective” of 25 musicians, including Har Mar Superstar, rappers P.O.S. and Dessa from Doomtree, as well as three members of Solid Gold.
The record will also reportedly feature Bon Iver drummer S Carey and producer Ryan Olson (the man responsible for forming Gayngs) with Vernon’s April Base Studio in Wisconsin serving as the project’s headquarters.

Somewhere in heaven, the great Alfred Hitchcock is grinning with pride at Nebraska’s newest prodigy, Nik Fackler. It’s hard to believe that “Lovely, Still” is the 25-year-old outsider-director’s first feature, and oh what a shocker it is.
For the first three quarters of the film we are led down one mysterious path only to later emerge somewhere entirely different. In other words, we are very neatly, tricked! Backtracking, we see Fackler’s clues — none of them hidden, all blatantly there. So how is it we manage to miss them? Hmmm ...
Beneath the intrigue, “Lovely, Still” is a love story — but not a frivolous one. It’s the kind that gets under your skin and into your guts, changing your life forever. And much like Hitch, Fackler propels his story with the help of superior actors. From principals Martin Landau, Ellen Burstyn and Adam Scott all the way...

Page's Fears Over TV Transition
Ellen Page was wary of accepting a role in upcoming TV series Tilda - because she worried she'd be criticised for transitioning from film to the small screen.
The actress, 23, shot to fame as the lead in hit movies including Juno and Whip It and admits she feared taking her career to TV.
But Page insists she couldn't turn down the script for HBO's upcoming comedy Tilda, in which she stars as an assistant to a high-powered Hollywood journalist, played by Diane Keaton.
She tells Collider.com, "(TV) just wasn't necessarily what I thought my next move would be. I didn't foresee myself shooting a pilot right now. It came along and... I read the pilot and I loved it. I was intellectually inspired, artistically inspired and I'm a huge fan of Diane Keaton.
"To be honest one of the only issues (in taking the job) was perspective - how people would perceive me doing TV. God, I sound like such an egotistical jerk. But who even cares what I do? I'm a huge fan of HBO. Their work is absolutely incredible (and) there's been a shift in mediums. I'm stoked to be involved and we just shot the pilot and I had a great time - I'm just hoping it will continue."
But despite her initial fears, Page's TV career appears to be taking off - HBO executives have purchased a comedy series she's creating with her Whip It co-stars Alia Shawkat and Sean Tillmann.
Page adds, "I'm writing a show that HBO bought called Stitch N' Bitch with two friends of mine. And I've been writing a screenplay as well. Who knows if these things will ever even (take off) but I'm having a blast doing it.

Ellen Page has joined Tilda, HBO's thinly veiled Nikki Finke comedy from Oscar-winning writer/director Bill Condon. The pilot stars Diane Keaton as an intimidating Hollywood blogger and Page as "a morally conflicted creative assistant" in whom Tilda takes a special interest. The Internet is abuzz over a track that made its way online that supposedly features Britney Spears singing Lady Gaga's "Telephone." It's a fact that Gaga initially wrote the tune for Spears for inclusion on her latest album Circus, but Britney rejected it. It ended up being a happy accident for Gaga, who teamed up with Beyoncé and recorded the track herself for The Fame Monster. The rest, as they say, is history: "Telephone" gave birth to the eye-popping, cinematic "Telephone" video, and the track peaked at the third spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (it currently sits at number 10).
"Telephone" wouldn't be the first track that Spears rejected. Take a look at the other songs that have passed through Spears' transom.

Mendes Recreates Video Leafblower Effect On TV
Eva Mendes recreated her windswept look in the new Har Mar Superstar video on late-night TV in America on Monday - with the help of a leafblower.
The sexy actress appears to be taking a full-on gust in the face in the Tall Boy promo and she told comedian George Lopez the effect was created by garden equipment.
She told the chat show host, "This video was shot for no money, so when you don't have money... you gotta get creative. To get this cool special effect we, basically, used a leafblower."
Lopez learned about the story before the show and had a leafblower backstage. The actress switched it on and pointed it in the host's face to recreate the video effect.

Over the years, there have been hundreds of television shows featuring many stereotypes of people in their teens and early 20s: The school-obsessed nerd, the cheerleader who gets all the dudes, the hospital residents sleeping together while trying to become respected surgeons. It’s time for the hipsters to be recognized, and who better to point them out than Ellen Page?
Last night, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Page and her Whip It co-stars Alia Shawkat and Sean Tillman (aka Har Mar Superstar) are writing a new show for HBO, taking on the Williamsburg and Silver Lake hipster set. Ellen Page's star has been on the rise ever since she landed the lead role in David Slade's Hard Candy, but clearly it was Juno that made her one of the most sought-after young actresses in Hollywood. Her name is now virtually synonymous with all that is hip and female, but should she be distancing herself from that image in order to avoid being typecast? She doesn't seem to think so, as she is now in the process of developing a new series for HBO called Stitch N' Bitch, about "two painfully cool hipster girls" who move from Brooklyn to L.A. in order to pursue careers as artists. The title of the show would seem to be a reference to the popular series of knitting books by Debbie Stoller, although it remains to be seen if the premise has anything to do with knitting at all. Sure, she can act like a precocious teen but can Ellen Page write? Fans will find out as the Juno star will write for an upcoming HBO comedy called Stitch N’ Bitch.
The 22-year-old will team up with Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) and Sean Tillmann on the single-camera comedy which will follow “two painfully cool hipster girls as they relocate from Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood to Los Angeles’ Silver Lake enclave in hopes of becoming artists – of any kind.”
All three will executive produce.
Though it remains a possibility that the three may star or make guest appearances, we have no official word on the cast nor a premiere date.
Shawkat, Tillmann and Page starred together in Drew Barrymore’s coming-of-age story Whip It which opened to warm reviews.

Oh, I can already see the responses to this one in my head. Ellen Page, Alia Shawkat and Sean Tillmann (the latter is Aka Har Mar Superstar) are writing and exec-producing a new show for HBO called Stitch N'Bitch. We don't know much about the project so far, but the trade write-ups indicate that it centers around a creature found inscrutable and frightening by much of the film blogging community: Hipsters. THR reports that the single-camera comedy show will follow " two painfully cool hipster girls as they relocate from Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood to Los Angeles' Silver Lake enclave in hopes of becoming artists -- of any kind." (Dancers are artists, right? Let's set an episode or two at Jumbo's Clown Room.) Based on that description, I'm guessing that one of the two girls is Stitch and the other Bitch. (Edit: Or, as one of our comments points out, this could...

· Whip It may have crashed and burned last weekend, but HBO isn't deterred from getting in the Ellen Page/Alia Shawkat business with the planned series Stitch N' Bitch. Their co-star Sean Tillman -- a/k/a briefs-rocking indie overlord Har Mar Superstar -- will join the ladies to write and produce the tale of two "painfully cool" hipster girls who flee from Williamsburg to Silver Lake in the pursuit of artistic happiness. All three principals may appear in the show from time to time, but expect a pair of new faces to be cast and, of course, summarily gotten over by the show's target audience before cameras even roll. Be your own hero. Or at least your own boss. Fresh on the wheels of the disappointing box office of Whip It, Ellen Page has just signed a deal to write and produce a comedy for HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will partner with actors Alia Shawkat and Sean Tillmann. It's unclear whether Page or her cohorts will star, but we'll put in our request now for a Diablo Cody and Drew Barrymore cameo. As befitting the Oscar-nominated star of Juno, Page's project Stitch N' Bitch is reportedly about the perils of hipsterism. The comedy concerns two artistically inclined young women who migrate from Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood all the way to...

Mendes Gets Glittery For Har Mar Superstar Video
Sexy star Eva Mendes jumped at the chance to appear in Har Mar Superstar's new video Tall Boy, because she has been a fan for five years.
The Hitch star agreed to be blasted with glitter in the promo after falling for her quirky pal's new single.
She tells EW.com, "He called me to be in the video, and I said, 'Yes'. I love the single. It sounds like old Prince. It just makes me want to dance."
And Mendes admits there's something she finds attractive about Har Mar Superstar: "To be an artist, it’s important to be utterly fearless. He’s not someone who’s conventionally attractive by society’s standards. But he is utterly fearless, and I‘m so attracted to that."...

The Whip It soundtrack. Not as easy as it looks, this soundtrack compiling malarkey. When I ruminated on which tunes might have trundled their way onto the tie-in record for Drew Barrymore’s roller derby-derived directorial debut Whip It, I got stuck at the grand total of two. The Devo number which shares its title with the Ellen Page-starring movie was one of course, while I also figured that a flick about female roller-skaters represented a most inviting opportunity to smuggle the Anna Karina-trilled/Serge Gainsbourg-penned power pop nugget Roller Girl onto the soundtrack of a major motion picture. But beyond that duo of offerings, I was clean outta ideas. No such difficulties for Whip It’s soundtrack supervisor and long-time Wes Anderson cohort Randall Poster though, as he has managed to er, whip up a 19 song-strong album that arrays veteran stagers next to bright young things,...

Barrymore Calls On Ex For Soundtrack Support
Drew Barrymore has given her ex-boyfriend Fab Moretti's new band a boost - she has picked them to perform on the soundtrack to her directorial debut.
The actress compiled the hit list of songs that will appear during her new roller derby film Whip It - and insisted her former lover's group Little Joy should be included.
She tells Billboard.com, "What was so exciting was to finally get to make a film that I could make an ultimate mixtape for and put the two together.
"It was sort of waiting my whole life, incubating, and I finally got to make them together... I'm really excited to bring that music to people."
The soundtrack also features Dolly Parton's Jolene, the Ramones' Sheena is a Punk Rocker and songs by Peaches and Jens Lekman.
Barrymore also commissioned new tracks by singer/songwriter Landon Pigg, who also appears in the film, Har Mar Superstar and Squeak E. Clean & Desert Eagles.
She adds, "Most of the people who are on this soundtrack are friends, people we took the time to go to personally and ask them if they would associate themselves with the movie, or people that we discovered that we can't wait to get to know. It's really interesting to have such personal relationships with everyone."...

Want to hear my Drew Barrymore story? Maybe another time (that’s what we in the business like to call a tease).
We’ve got other news to get to …
Drew Barrymore will host “Saturday Night Live” on October 10 with musical guest Regina Spektor who was featured on the 500 Days of Summer soundtrack. It’s Barrymore’s sixth time hosting the show.
Barrymore told Billboard.com there may be more volumes of the Whip It soundtrack besides the one listed below. She says it would includes songs such as Radiohead’s “No Surprises” and score music by the Section Quartet. A collectible vinyl edition of the soundtrack is due out later this fall.
The soundtrack is looking quite strong with “Pot Kettle Black” being my personal standout.

I have to admit, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Drew Barrymore as an actress, I've been really curious about her directorial debut, Whip It!. Based on the book Derby Girl by Shauna Cross, the film stars Ellen Page as a Texas teenager named Bliss Cavendar who rebels against her beauty pageant-obsessed mother by joining a female roller derby league. The first trailer has just arrived online courtesy of Yahoo! [1] and I think it looks both funny and endearing. There's no question that Ellen Page was a perfect choice for the lead role, and with a supporting cast that includes Juliette Lewis, Kristen Wiig, Marcia Gay Harden, and Zoe Bell (not to mention Jimmy Fallon and Har Mar Superstar), how can Drew go wrong? Whip It! hits theatres on October 9th; check out the trailer after the jump and reminisce about Rollergames in the comments below. [1] http://movies.

When we spoke to Alia Shawkat about her Sundance Labs experience, we couldn't let her get away without asking her about the two most curious things people are buzzing about: the Arrested Development movie, and that odd, poorly-synched viral video where she sang "Don't Stop Believin'" with her Whip It! costars Ellen Page and Har Mar Superstar. Read on for her thoughts on both.

• Why is Ellen "Juno" Page singing "Don't Stop Believing" with Har Mar Superstar and Maeby from Arrested Development? It's that kind of bizarre bad where you can't turn away, which is probably what they intended, so good job everyone. Now, no more Journey. • The Circus U.K. tour is just another chapter in The Adventures of Britney Spears and the Magical Live Mic. When they let her greet Manchester last night, she said "London" instead. How embarrassing! • Melissa Rycroft is still getting pity jobs over at ABC. Haven't they already made up enough for her public dumping? • Little Miss Sunshine already looks like...
