The Baldwin Brothers were formed by TJ Widner and Jason Hinkle in 1983
while attending junior high in Kokomo, Indiana. The band named was
derived from an inside joke between the two and was not related the the
now famous actors/brothers of the same name. The two produced various
independent recordings off and on until the early 90s.
In 1999 Hinkle and Widner reformed the group while sharing an apartment in Chicago, Illinois. They produced a short demo recording which caught the attention of local producers and eventually landed them a recording contract with TVT Records. TVT released "Cooking With Lasers" in 2002 which received positive reviews and rose to number three on the CMJ RPM charts.
