- Resides in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

- Was born 10 days later than fellow NHLer Peter Forsberg of the Colorado Avalanche, in their village of Ornskoldsvik. Played in the same junior club as Forsberg (MoDo) and is still best friends with him until this day.
- Was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, 16th overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Was traded to Vancouver for Alek Stojanov on March 20th, 1996.
- Currently the team captain of the Vancouver Canucks. Became captain on September 15th 2000, in Stockholm, Sweden during the Canucks training camp, following Mark Messier signed back with the New York Rangers.

- Signed a three year deal that returns him to the Vancouver Canucks worth 18 million. He will be 35 when the deal expires, and has expressed desire to retire in a Canucks uniform. (August 2005)
- Has now said in an interview with the Vancouver Sun over the phone that if the NHL lockout still does not end by the fall, he will not be playing in Sweden or in Europe next season, as he had an unhappy homecoming in January. (May 2005)
- Left Vancouver for Sweden in mid-January to play with MODO, his former junior team, for the duration of the lockout. (January 2005)
- Because of Swedish tax laws, decided to forgo playing with MoDo, his former junior team in Sweden, and has returned to Vancouver, for training with other members of the Canucks. If the issues are worked out, he has said that he will join MoDo mid-season. (September 2004)
- Parents are Sture and Ulla Naslund. Has a younger sister, younger by 5 years. Father, Sture, is a environmental engineer back home in Ornskoldsvik.
